One of the great generational acting talents today. He dominates every scene and can play funny, menacing, ashamed, all tools are available. And he has one of the great voices in acting as well.
And his work as Elvis? For my money, it’s definitive. That it was passed over by most audiences without a mention or any awards consideration was unfair.

SO agree! Elvis / Nixon was just great. For a guy who didn't look a thing like EP, Shannon knocked it out of the park. And fair is fair - Kevin Spacey was fantastic as Nixon. Colin Hanks was also good, as was Johnny Knoxville. A VERY underrated film.

I kept running into him in Lincoln Park Chicago. It was so hard not to stare😂 I don’t really care about most actors but he’s the best.
The first movie I saw him act in was A RIVER RUNS THROUGH IT directed by Robert Redford. I love that film!

I watched Take Shelter and loved it! Definitely a slow burn type movie so it's not for everyone.
The most underrated actor in the industry. He needs to be recognized more for his work. He nailed it as George Jones.

I loved him so much in Boardwalk Empire, whether it was deliberate or not, I found him very believable to have come from Dutch parentage and being incredibly awkward in expressing himself in the English language. That near autistic dryness was fantastic.

Take Shelter was amazing. His performance and hers were unforgettable.
He's brilliant in everything. Just watched him in the Nine Strangers shows where he's on magic mushrooms in Nicole Kidman's character's wellness resort. He sings in the show too and he's an amazing singer.

He’s always played these intense and intimidating characters, but I remember hearing that he was the warmest and funniest cast member on Knives Out. He comes across as downright shy in this interview. God bless, ‘em.

My theory on why Michael Shannon is such a talent, he is a rare mix of a little bit country and a little bit rock and roll....super humble and down to earth and dangerous as all get out.....He is a contradiction like we havent seen before......extraordinary.

Michael Shannon has the range to play everything from General Zod to George Jones - and everything in between.
I've met a lot of famous people in my life. From country music legends to movie stars. My husband and I are in the music industry and have been in loved with some really great people, but we have never met anybody any nicer than Michael Shannon. Was around him several times and can't find one single bad word to say about him nor Jessica. They are so kind and down to earth to be who they are. But you know that's what gets you somewhere in life. Michael played George Jones better than anybody on earth could have played him. I know George well. He was my brother in law. My husband wrote 73 songs for George and 34 fir Tammy Wynette. So I know what to look for when it comes to seeing someone playing the two of them. Jessica looked so much like Tammy in the movie and there were times I actually wouldn't have thought it was Tammy had I not know better.
Michael acted just like George. He even had the same disposition as George did. I can honestly judge this George and Tammy mivie for I knew both of them well .we spent years together, wrote many songs together,
toured together, won awards together, we were the BEST OF FRIENDS. so I know what they looked like and I know how they acted. That's why I can say that Michael and Jessica done the best job playing them than anybody else could have.
They both sang in the film. Can't wait to see the first episode...

I live in Lexington, where he's from. Listen, folks- this isn't really a southern country town. It's more like Cincinnati. It doesn't surprise me AT ALL what he said. I didn't know who Johnny Cash was until he did a nine inch nails cover. The stereotype doesn't apply.
