I keep seeing you making this exact same comment on multiple YT clips of the new RRK. Get a life dude. The old one was charming for it's time but compared to the new one, it's quite wonky AF. The while new isn't always better, in this case, the new one is manifestly superior.
I love the Animation but these fights are all so rushed. The Saito fight was one of the best animated sword fights of all time. Yet it felt do rushed in the new version. Looking forward to the fight with soujiro and shishiou hope they arent rushed like these fights. Theres no emotional build up

Kenshins entire style is based on him being superhuman (and is actively dangerous to him because he didn't stay training sufficiently to master it unlike Hiten). Like, Hiten is literally superhuman to an insane degree, as was the developer of Hiten Mitsuryugi. Kenshin is 100% a superhuman, and the guy he's fighting has also demonstrated superhuman feats.
Both old and new versions are great. I think the new version has better animation, while the old version is better at depicting how Kenshin goes back to his manslayer self and completely changes.

The direction of the old ones are always better than remakes but directors want to do something original without sounding like they are imitating the older ones Unlike before, the animation industry has so much talent than before with younger animators however the industry is also facing problems with bad management, and work schedule so the fillers that may considered to deep dive into the characters are no longer prioritized, i still think we still have long way to go until characters are fleshed out, but i still understand where you are coming. In the end i think it’s unfair to call it childish when there are things anime nowadays can’t cross with blood and gore depending what the channel the series airs on as well as the composite department. All the fuss Kenji had to go through in his battles because of his reversed edge sword. Almost all his fights would've ended a lot sooner and him with less damage if he used a regular sword (in this scene Jinei's head would've been split). But then the likes of Saito, Aoshi and other folks he fought who became allies would've died or be severely injured.
but that's kind of the point of his sword.. He still has the ability and the temptation to kill with a sharpened edge not on the primary side. The message of this shows writers was there can still be redemption and ability to change the world without bloodshed (although its not a realistic one)
he doesn't want to kill anyone anymore even if he gets damaged or runs the risk of dying in order to atone for the hundreds he killed and for what caused the cross shaped scar on his face, he was only about to kill jinei because it didn't looked like he had any choice
@ejp_reyes oh 100%. But the yellow eyes were (for the Anime) a very useful device for showing Kenshin's descent back into his manslayer mentality. It was very well used and utilized especially in this particular arc.
The animation is good in 2023 but there is one thing they did wrong. the eyes. when kenshin become battousai his eyes turn dead. they should not put any kind of shining color in it. it should be dark dead color and sharp. the animator here doesn't know that. what they did here when he get serious is just make the shape of his eyes sharper with edges. that's all they didn't change the color to darker and remove the reelections.
I personally think it’s a good thing. The only difference between Kenshin and Battosai is his eyes; it illustrates that there actually isn’t a lot separating the two.

The colored titles did have Manslayer kenshin with snake-eyes. In one iteration they were yellow so people have been running off the fact that "manslayer eyes" = yellow snake eyes. The OG anime did NOT have yellow eyes for jinei fight, it was onky against Saito that he had yellow
I get they want to emphasise speed but the choppy cuts between moves is not great, they could of kept the animation fluid without resorting to missing a frame after every 10. I really like the look and details of the characters, Kaoru crying was so beautiful.
It is not true that the old version of the anime is better. How is it better? It was a pain to watch the old series a few years ago. Now with the new remake of the anime, when I started watching it, it was so well made that I lost track of time how much it got me this new remake of the anime

i think the changing of the color of the eyes in kenshin symbolized a lot more. If they kept that, the fight would get 100% in my book. It showed depth, emotion and a taste of reality. Even a kind person can hide serious emotions that can only be seen in their eyes.
I love the whole idea of kenshin and his whole story, this fight looked so good but it was so quick and rushed, in JJBA fights could last episodes and this was only less than 2 minutes, really wish they made it longer
You guys who complain that the new version feels rushed (and actually watched the episode, not this edited video) forget how much padding was put into the original that had nothing to do with fighting. What made it longer than this was padded dialogue common to episodic format for padding purposes. The actual comparison that makes this version superior is the replacement of still-screen animation with actual animated movement. Look at how Kenshin and Jine are actually MOVING rather than a bust portrait surrounding by slash-flash animations. That laziness and archaic unrefined artwork is better than crisp and actual animation? It's like I'm taking crazy pills that I'm the only one who appreciates this over the original.
I read the manga version of this fight and I agree with you. There's so much padding in the old version. Mid dialogue fights before swords clash, it kinda becomes cheesy. This follows more of the frame by frame flow from the movies.
I agree ! Yes this constantly also has flashes but the old one mostly has images transitioning rather than actual animation . The vibe is better in the original , but the animation and flow makes it up for this . People just got too nostalgic .

Actually this is VERY manga accurate. If you go back and read it, the duels literally do not go beyond some very few strikes (also the editing on this upload doesn't help...) but I sorta agree in a way, manga and anime are different medias, if you have to make bullshit up to make fights seem longer then do it. Some stuff doesn't translate well from page to screen. I also like the 90's fight with Saitou a lot more in the anime than in the manga for example

Original is better because of the scene compositions and the soundtracks. The remake has better animation and character design that matched the manga art style but the issue with the remake is the scene compositions is just not good and the soundtracks while ok, it couldn't topped the soundtracks the original had.
The new version's animation is really good... But... They rushed the story so much, skipped funny moments, only going through the situations, the emotions just don't feel the same

Soma Saito is infinitely better than Mayo Suzukaze for Kenshin's voice. Both as the rurouni persona and as the manslayer persona.

The new version's animation is really good... But... They rushed the story so much, skipped funny moments, only going through the situations, the emotions just don't feel the same

@@АртурИванов-ч9э If you're familiar with Japanese anime and its styles as well as american cartoons, you'd definitely see the difference.. this samurai X remake tries to combine both styles but its a little jarring for people who watched the original. ( for ref - try watching street fighter - The anime and the american cartoon )
