Very helpful tips for a new-to-gravel, long-time MTB rider, thanks! It’s quite a transition in riding style. Especially downhill turning - SO different with these tiny curly bars!!😅
That's a good tip about using your body to steer. One thing I do to quickly dodge around obstacles in my path, is I'll give the saddle a bit of hip check with the inside of my thigh. I get the bike to move more quickly than trying to turn the bars.
Brake before the corner and not during cornering is even more important when riding off-road. Being fairly new to gravel guilty of the last one for sure, some of that i hope will fade with confidence.
And short turns use your hips. Lay the bike flat in the corner and stay up yourself. You keep control, and you have max effort of coarser tread of the tire. Keep pressure on the outside pedal while you keep it low. Keep flow, and use your rearbrake to adjust speed.
@@JulietElliottsChannel well that is partly true. Just use it to adjust speed is not agrassive as real breaking. When you have clearance enough you can even keep peddeling. You will notice you got a lot of control. It is a feeing thing. Don’t brake like a @% just dose and feel. And I hope I am not beeing a smart a$$ 🙌😂
Thanks for the tips Juliet! I think my biggest issue is too tense when riding... probably because of my anxiety... lol. I'm going to try and focus on relaxing more... and just enjoying the ride. :)
@garyboyle695 Well, it appears my luck is holding. If it becomes to steep and you run out of gears you won't have enough power in your legs to control torque wenn seated
Motor cycles steer with their head Juliet, where you look the bike goes, eg looking at a pot hole , you will hit it , and balance also helps use only the back brake to slow down or you learn to fly! Great utube channel😎
How many of these are you guilty of?
Very 😊
I don't really understand the drop your heels one, other than further _minimizing tension_ 🧐 but I guess I'll try it
At the start, all of them. Now all of them, sometimes.

Now that’s how you do a ‘how to’ video. Great advice, straight to the point, quick demo and your off to the races! Love it❤
Thank you
@@JulietElliottsChannel - your content combined with your personality and attitude is just fantastic. Thank you!
That turning tip, steering with body, is very good for all conditions, especially for winter, when riding on ice/snow! Cheers!
M o r n i n g !
Excellent tips, especially the one about ‘hinged hips’
Glad it was helpful!

Good tips across the board, especially on climbing position & minimizing tension
Such a great video!!! Love your Energy and usefull knowledge too ☺️
Thanks so much!

Great practical tips, really useful. Nice to see a few brief demos too 👍.
Great tips. I'm still not confident on a lot of technical gravel trails so will bear these tips in mind.
All excellent points of advice!
Top advice. I probably guilty of all these.
Good tips, thanks!

Thanks. Some great tips here.
Great tips! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
good tips Julie ! Thanks
Thanks Juliet very helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
All good stuff, thank you for this and all your videos 👍
Very useful thanks
Omg right on time when I got back to gravel riding. Too much air pressure was my mistake.
And short turns use your hips. Lay the bike flat in the corner and stay up yourself. You keep control, and you have max effort of coarser tread of the tire. Keep pressure on the outside pedal while you keep it low. Keep flow, and use your rearbrake to adjust speed.
Good tips although I'd say avoid braking in turns entirely

Love Devon, Working in Seaton ATM, The lanes are great for quiet rides in the evenings, Bunchy bloody climbs though
the climbs are savage!
What is a good pressure for mixed tarmac / gravel riding on all round tyres?
What is the tyre pressure you recommend?
If you practice weight distribution you can stand and sprint on the pedals on most climbs.
Good luck with that in steep loose conditions.

Great tips! Guilty of a couple!
What kinda PSI you rockin?
Some really good stuff here, but i got more out of your what to do’s rather than your what not to do’s
Guilty of some, not all. Luckily I have a couple years or motorcycling experience, so that helps.
Great advice J thankyou

Hi 🙂👍
like downhill sking, point your belly button where you want to go
Also do enough miles to condition yourself to be able to ride 100 mile rides, unlike JE, the great DNFer.
What a load of rubbish, out of every race and event I’ve EVER done there is only one DNF - Race Around Rwanda. Twat
All your comments are just trolling Juliet. Get a grip you clown.
Your response was epic! This is why I love you and want to buy you pastries.
