For information, with this new IPS screen, it is advisable to use 1.5v alkaline batteries or rechargeable batteries with a constant voltage of 1.5v, because conventional rechargeable batteries have a voltage of 1.2v and this is not sufficient for the IPS screen. If you use 1.2v rechargeable batteries, the console will turn on the first time you use it, but after that the screen will not turn on, there will be only sound and no picture. In this case, you have to remove the 1.2v batteries each time, wait a bit and then put them back to play again. Conclusion, buy 1.5v stable voltage rechargeable batteries or alkaline batteries
have you ever run into an issue with your IPS mod screen becoming extremely dim? i got the Gamedrive yesterday and played for a few hrs, then the screen crapped out, now its extremely dim... I tried to connect my other NPGC mainboard to it, and same result, so its clearly the mod board or screen itself.. not sure what the fix could be apart from completely replacing it with a new one?
Is replacing the front glass really necessary? In every installation video I’ve seen people are doing this, but mine is in good shape… how come everybody is using the one that came with the kit?
I’m guessing to have nice new adhesive, and maybe a better front glass/lens? When I remove an old glass lens I know I usually consider that part as no good. Have you had better luck with that?
@@jivinhipcat I didn’t bother doing the whole 4 wires for OSD thing either, the touch pads are plenty for me. I don’t know soldering and didn’t wanna bug my roommate too much, so I just had him help desoldering/soldering the speaker part
I strongly suggest if you are going to do this, to do it with a replacement shell and not an original shell. This is for preservation purposes and peace of mind. The destructive process shown in this video is just that destructive. While it's a great mod. Just please, for preservation sake please do this to replacement shells only. The video game community will thank you for generations, literally.
It’s the Flash Masta cart www.flashmasta.com/product/neo-pocket-flash-masta-usb-32mbit/ I haven’t heard of any problems with CardFighters. Maybe it’s a different version; this one has been translated to English, or maybe there is a different cart people are having problems with? Not sure.
@@jivinhipcat Thanks for sharing! Yes some others must have older versions and they didn't work, probably drew more power than the newer one and official carts.
@@kayg5903 There's a fix for that but it's not great. Buy Energizer Lithium Batteries. It always gives a constant power draw even when it's about to run dry unlike Alkaline Batteries which has a variable (as it gets weaker when nearly depleted). As a solution, i've invested in buying rechargeable Lithium AA batteries that give 1.5v constant.
I got over 10 hours on Lithium Batteries with medium brightness settings and pixel Mode turned on. Looks to be around 7-8 Hours on good Alkaline Batteries. Not the 30-40 Hours you could get with original screen but far more flexible in bad lighting and more detailed.
That's a nice piece of hardware you got there mate! The part where you say, "I'm real picky about that." That's called OCD! lol. Just joking. I recently bought a Nintendo Dsi xl for $10. It works and everything except the digitizer is kinda ugly, and not only that, the top lcd has some black spots. Please please, help me. I've went all over my town to cell phone repair places and electronics parts repairs and nobody wants to do the job. Do you think you can do the repairs for me? I already have the digitizer and the lcd should be showing up sometime next week. I was going to do it myself but I lack a soldering station plus my soldering skills suck! lol. Get back at me
Yo Evan! Well, I’m so busy lately so I wouldn’t be able to help out with that. You should post about it or send pics or anything when you’re done though; that kind of stuff is cool. Unless it goes the way my friend did the other day. He was changing out his laptop battery. Somehow he fried it. I asked what happened and he said something like “It wasn’t working after I connected the battery, so I tried connecting the battery backward to see if that was it.” XD I still mess with him about that.
Hehe! Cool cool. I'm going to wait to fix my dsi. Plus, I also have a regular ds that also needs a new digitizer replacement. I'm really going to have to wait to fix them because I've decided that the best course of action is for me to invest in a soldering station. The good thing is that just 3 days ago I barely ordered my experimental piboy dmg! Yes! I'm so excited! Anyways, I love your craftsmanship! Nice work!
Nice. A lot of the time I just use a super cheap soldering iron. It doesn’t heat up as quickly, but it works as well other than that. Experimental piboy dmg?
Yeah this new screen is phenomenal. I really love how the colors pop, and pixel mode is essential to me.
Instablaster...
I just finished modding my own by watching your video. Thank you Champ

Great video and upgrade, Thanks for sharing it buddy ;)
Wish I could send you mine to do for my son. I would end up breaking the whole thing
Excellent work!
Hi!
Great video 🙂👍
The link for the kit does not work, do you know where I can buy the same kit you have in the video? Thanks in advance.
Bon travail 👍

How did you get card fighters 2 running on this screen? For most of us it won’t work. What cart are you using?

@@jajabinx35 That's an interesting idea. What's the downside aside from the battery measurement on the OSD being throw off?
Nice video! How's the battery life for this mod?
I haven’t done testing for battery life, but I think Macho Nacho did some specifically on it
