It’s really charming that they have character specific dialogue in their endings in SNK vs Capcom. You don’t normally see that kind of love shown in games.
I had Dark Arms, Match of the Millennium, and the Metal Slugs as a kid. I highly recommend playing Match more btw, there's different bosses depending on whether you play an SNK or Capcom character. Plus a decent amount of unlockable characters and mini games.
I'm probably not the first one to say this, but Garou: Mark of the Wolves *was* released on the Switch. I have it on mine at least... along with Psycho Soldier.
I bought all the individual releases and still scooped this collection up! These NGP games are so wonderful! Wish I would of had one when they were first released. 😊
I just remembered, I bought a neo geo pocket color bundle that came with fight of the millenium and what not; it was like in 2004 I was actually surprised EBgames sold it at the time. But yeah I had a lot of fun with that, to this day I still love the sprites of the pocket. I have absolutely no idea where it is now though T_T
Remember Metal Slug: Third Mission was released for the GBA as Metal Slug Advance. The game feature colorful graphics and a health meter just like Metal Slug: First and Second Mission on NeoGeo Pocket Color.
I love my Neo Geo Pocket Color, incredibly clicky stick, incredibly satisfying to use. I own cartridges for Samsho 2 and Metal Slug 1st Mission but I’m absolutely down to grab this collection when the physical copy releases.
Nth person to say Garou is on the switch already, sorry - it's my favorite beat 'em up ever. Also they added rollback to a bunch of versions which is awesome.
I still have my Neo Geo Pocket Color system that I bought when I was a kid. It works and I play it everyday. Tho I do not have a copy of Gal Fighters ):
And nowadays I just want an emulator to play these games I keep seeing around. Because the money I spend (that'll probably be 20x the price of whatever they were back in the day) probably won't even be going to the original company so no point in not pirating them really.
@@AshWilliams-v3e I use RetroArch and apparently there was one there so now I have that Dark Arms one on my phone~ I was mixing this up with the N-Gage, which I'm still waiting for an Emu for.
Iori normally: I'LL KILL YOU KYO. Iori in SNK vs Capcom: tweet. Also plot twist, that ending is canon to how Terry got invited to smash. That's my Canon now.
There’s a lot of great unlockables in some of these games, increasing the content of the game. I think I remember Last Blade is a game that looks like it is simply one of the last blade games, but as you play more, you eventually stumble on the fact that they put both Last Blade 1 and 2 in the cart. Samurai Shodown 2 on Neo Geo Pocket was a treasure partly because of the cards you earn. They also have some information about each character, both for slash and bust versions. What makes this profound, is that this was the first time the actual character story and lore was fully explained, in English. So for English speakers, in the west, they got their first taste of backstory, normally only given to Japanese audiences, localized here. BTW, my channel also has an old studio remix of one of the Dark Arms songs. Dark Grab day music. Ala. 19:53. Which I put together not long after originally getting this game , brand new, for my NGPC.
I had these pocket gaming magazine and it had an article about the Neo Geo. Man, I thought the little sprites in its standout fighting game looked so cool lol
The start of the chibi style Began on the original Gameboy, With the Takara ports of SNK games. I think that’s why when the Neo Geo pocket color came out they ended up going with that same style as it works so well for handheld.
Well, Terry does have one more super in MotM but it's his High-angle Geyser from '98. You can actually purchase a "hidden" super by earning points in the Olympic mode. The reason Terry doesn't have Buster Wolf in MotM is because the game was in development at the same time as Garou (1999), which is the first game where he perfomed the move.
When I was 13 I wrote a techno song using a .mod sequencer on my PC - I don't even think I had a sound card just the PC speaker. I used wav files I got off a BBS of "Open the pod bad doors Hal" and "I'm sorry Dave I can't do that" as a call/response and strung together kick drums and notes until it passed for danceable music. Lets just say I really, REALLY felt that SB email.
First.... MATT Garou Mark of the Wolves IS already in the Switch!!!!! That said Almost all these are good games and so worth buying this (at least 2 of them cost more on ebay) also Beast buster is awesome ^-^
All of those games came out here on the original system. I own all of the games in this collection, minus Metal Slug 2nd Mission and Last Blade, on the original system. The Golf game was originally called Neo Turf Master, a way better name in my opinion.
The redesign for Yashiro with the artist notes on twitter kinda clearly has Chris and Shermie cropped out on either side of him, she's as good as confirmed :) twitter.com/SNKPofficial/status/1375266722010124295/photo/1
Hate that they put Dark Arms in this first collection cuz I rather play that only. Should of been included in the second collection along with Card fighters .
I got a NGPC from GameStop back when it released in the US... I thought I was hot shit...it was WAY better then my GameBoy....then they released a few games and stopped supporting it in the US...
Yeah, while I forgot about that super basic ACA arcade port, I was thinking of the more elaborate online enabled ports that other consoles got a few years ago.

I love that Guile looks exactly the same even in adorable chibi form.
8:09 'The only new Morrigan sprite, ever!' LOL
Pocket fighters???
Also Gunbird 2 for the Dreamcast!!
Matt: It's just volume 1, so there's probably more down the line.
SNK Arcade Classics Vol. 1 for Wii/Ps2: You sure about that?
The really messed up part is that there was a SNK Arcade Classics 0
@FinalxNinja And I'm glad I was wrong.
Wow, the sprites and the art of the games are really amazing, for a hand handle console. Should be more popular than the gameboy color.
Add in the fact that every Neo Geo Pocket system got 40 hours of playtime, on just 2 AA batteries.
The library is small. But nearly ever game is a banger.
That Beast Busters art and spritework is phenomenal!
I had Dark Arms, Match of the Millennium, and the Metal Slugs as a kid. I highly recommend playing Match more btw, there's different bosses depending on whether you play an SNK or Capcom character. Plus a decent amount of unlockable characters and mini games.
"I just about fell off the toilet". Thanks for that image, Matt.
It took years for the dulcet techno tones of Strongbad to get out of my head and one simple phrase brought them all back.
Fhqwhgads!
I said come on Fhqwhgads, I said come on Fhqwhgads.
Everybody to the limit, the cheat is to the limit, everybody come on Fhqwhgads!
This was a fun ride through some NeoGeo pocket color titles, hell yeah to that.

Garou is already on the switch. Pretty barebones arcade port. Can pick between Japanese and Western versions. Plays smooth

That Terry ending is canon to me
Same. Ken did meet him again in more SvC crossover and of course, Video Games the Game.

I really hope that SNK releases this collection physically.
Limited run has released a physical edition of this for the Switch (and maybe the PS4, not sure if it was or not).
Some indie dev should just hire Matt to narrate/read the story in the game.
Sooo if they release SNK vs Capcom: Cardfighters Clash and Faselei! in the future for volume 2. I’ll consider it a day one pick up.
Stay away from snickers at all costs!! GET HUNGRY!!
I want this but gonna wait for the physical version
I need to grab this collection
