Automotive Gem of the PNW: Griot's Motors + Cruise to 7 Eleven

- For our second episode of our #WhereLarry series we went cruising around the Seattle area with our friends from Griots Motors. They brought out two incredible German cars from the same early 90s era, both with a bit of Japanese flair. The 964 is a two time championship winning race car that raced all over Japan. Now it roams the streets of the Pacific Northwest. The E30 M3 has been tastefully modified with a very similar vibe. You can bet we made a stop to 7 Eleven for snacks and supplies.
#WhereLarry merch now available at 7collection.co...

I know this is a sponsored video and all but shout out to Larry for covering a couple of unique cars and for getting that bag. Respect
The Carerra S Porsche and 959 are both amazing despite those cars are like 20+ years old.
"We're trying to break it while it's still in our shop."
That is a level of integrity that is rare these days. That "will *we* be proud of the finished project?" philosophy is just awesome! 😎🤘
One of your best. The story behind that Porsche alone is incredible. Getting the catalog from the detailing business side has always been worth it for the featured vehicles. I think it is the best restoration shop going.
The story behind that Lexus and old GTR also are incredible btw.
I've been a fan of Groiots for years .
They make the best
car care products
out there. Their catalog features a
car from the collection each month. Sweet Larry.
Thanks 7eleven, and thanks Larry for always showing care culture at its best!
brown noser lol
Hagerty, I hope you know what gift you have in this man Larry. He truly is a gift to the car communities worldwide.
2 of the greatest cars of all time.
cool to see some local cars in this!
The old Porsche 930 and BMW E30 cars in Tyler Kapper's garages are simply amazing.
Two of the most beautiful and iconic cars ever featured on the channel! the story and the livery of the 964 are simply gold...thank you Larry for such gems and content!
I love everything about this episode, so much. Thanks to 7Eleven, Larry, and Griot’s Motors for sharing!
In my head...Sir Richard Attenborough voice over..."Here we have Larry Chen..."
Stellar Upload...Again! 😁
I love the answers about the f1 car, he’s a legend. What an amazing collection and company.
My cousin have a 1990 M3 here in Sweden. Bought it like 25years ago for 9000usd, insured now for 80000. All original, nothing done to it. I´m so jealous. I drove it one evening, designated driver. Amazing.
Two cars that have so much soul.
Great video as always Larry glad you got to spend some time with such great people 👏
As a Brazilian, it gives me goosebumps just watching that Senna's McLaren MP4! Especially knowing it is so close to where I currently live in Canada. ❤ This is a very special car!
McLaren MP4/4 from Ayrton Senna is my childhood favourite car since the days of GT3 A SPEC.😢
Thank you for visiting, Larry! As someone born and raised in Seattle, I was so happy to see you shine a spotlight, even if just The Shop, Evergreen Speedway, and Griot's Garage, that's just the tip here. We have so much more.
Great cars. Just came back from Japan. The 7-Elevens there are next level.
Nice shoot! Griot's is always inspiring to visit. I had wondered why Niki Lauda's F1 Ferrari hadn't been on display for a while. The E 30 M3 & air cooled 911 are my all time favorites. Thank you.
Larry welcome to the Pacific Northwest, we love our Volkswagens. 😂
had no idea that griots had a shop for restoration. makes sense why they always have tools and garage equipment in their catalogs now
What a car ❤
Great episode Larry. Really enjoyed the deep dive into Griots Motors and hearing Phillip's passion as he speaks about his shop.
Love PNW summer evenings, you capture the light beautifully
Bwhahaha “a beautiful bar of soap” 😂. I love the Griots Garage collection, I was there last week and couldn’t believe the quality and workmanship they put into the restorations! 👏🏿
Gotta Love the Town!!!!! ✊🏾✅
That Porsche is obviously very cool, but the story and history behind it takes it up several notches. Very cool that the original owner kept all that stuff and sent it to be with the car.
I used to live in the Seattle area and everyone who wants to take some great pics of their cars goes to the Don Armeni Boat Launch. It’s weird seeing places you used to visit regularly. Thanks for the virtual trip!
I had no idea this place existed in my hometown.
6:00 colors that have a lot of pop are colors that also fade quickest in the sun. It’s the chromatic property in the paint color that allows it to have lots of color saturation with out darkening the color, so it’ll have a Lucious pop, but it’s also vulnerable to uv light.
Btw the concentrated paint tints used to make & mix color.. those chromatic tints are the most expensive to replace when they go empty on the paint rack in body shops. Just a table spoon into a quart of white will give you that red/orange Marlboro color.
Wild to see larry in my local area. I was just looking at the welds on that e9 on saturday lol
Damn, that is one clean restoration shop, I love it. Sweet cars and great video as always from Larry
Thank you, Larry!
After they finish the car they should fly the Japanese driver down to Seattle to have him drive it on the track. Just to say thank you for all the stuff that he sent
Banger video Larry! That boat launch spot is great for pics. Queenanne Kerry park although difficult to get a parking space is another great city skyline vantage point for car photography.
Larry when you and Dino were in Italy several months ago I know you saw several LANCIA👀. Man what video that was to see so many Vintage and Iconic automobiles 👌. My mind was blown 👌
Larry you’ve got a GIFTED RADAR to Cross the Globe to interview and display so many Automotive Shops. Larry Chen and Dino; Nobody does it better👀👌🫡
I would take this 2 awesome cars, put them in a garage made of glas next to my livingroom and throw my tv out. You do not need more than these. Awesome!
Wow, I realise that the focal point is the F1 car and the other racecars, however, the Citroën Méhari lurking in the background is the actual star in the room 🇫🇷😅 If you have a chance, I think it would pique your interest, Larry😊 Thank you for all the high-quality content and for your unparalleled passion. Kind regards from Denmark 🇩🇰
awesome feature of Griots garage. I literally was there 3 days ago for Radwood and saw all the cars shown. was excited to actually touch Sena's car.
Named my new born son Ayrton. Looks like we need to make a trip out there and see that McLaren!
I take my Plymouth to some of the shows at griots. Some excellent cars show up.
I love how the previous owner of the Porsche was flabbergasted by the level of disrespect given to it's racing provenance!
The 711 drip is 🔥
been waiting for this one !!!
Very cool that a Convience store/gas station is getting involved with car culture cool video 👍 up
Oh I get it Griots Garage Car Care Products connection. I watch their weekly podcast 👍. It’s a Q & A podcast
You had me at Larry & Griot's.
7/11 marketing department def made a good choice with that campaign
On my way to 7/11 right now… in Tokyo
Living less than 10 min from the Tacoma Griots, I will say it’s one of my favorite places to visit.
If I ever have the $$$, I’m sending these guys my dads 1977 euro spec 911 that I inherited from him a few years ago! Until then I’m just tackling one “project” on it every winter lol.
33:53 seen this at ALKI 🔥 👌👌👌
I live in Tacoma and this was at the top of my algorithm this morning! Had no idea one of Senna’s cars lives in Seattle. Subbed!
Yes amazing to see Senna's car.
I love u Larry Chen.
… amazing & so detailed

Great video!
I love that rabbit with that ALH T D I
Live just down the street from Don Armeni boat launch. Sad I missed seeing these cars and Larry in person.
WOW.
Liked for the thumbnail
i love it - finally pure German style, no spoilers - it's Golf GTi not rabbit - 964 blowed my mind
So cool seeing John @slowpregress E30 M3 and learning of the connection to @griotsgarage!
If an American shop is taking on a Renault Alpine then they are amazing. Not an easy car to mess with in the USA. And they are definitely very cool.
My hood! TTown!
i've actually seen this same combo of cars roll up in a parking lot by my house. the e30 was caged however. it was the sickest shit ever. i'll never forget it
edit: i didn't notice this red one is caged too. sickkk
Think about this.. the fact that they bought that f1 car literally translates into they helped McLaren build the mp4-12c road cars and beyond. Pretty cool.
My dad’s buddy raced a purple 964 cup car in PCA races for a lot of years (Nord Stern region). It was such an amazing car, sadly he sold it when he jump up into 996 & 997 Cup cars.
Man if you are ever in Portland area would love to talk cars and photography
You were in my town! I work less than a mile from Griots!
"It's just French" LOL
Your brother has good taste lol Take some time to learn about the Alpine, it's pretty fascinating.
We should swing by one of your events. Old shop was a bit inconvenient to get to lol
Nice rides.
Dang, I want that rabbit.
That white alpine has the same engine as a delorean
There were a couple instances where you could see and hear that the RS was a racecar.
The history on the 911 is so sick
Hopefully you had a chance to visit the LeMay car museum while you were here in Tacoma.
M3 RS very cool cars Gentlemen!
Thanks Larry!!!
Is that an E30 small tail light heckblende?
This is the same griots as the detailing products in advance and auto zone?
Correct
It’s way too bad MOTOR TREND and ROAD & TRACK didn’t know about you back n the 80’s& 90’s I know back then you weren’t born but those photographic shots you took. I’m ready to buy that print was once you have it up on your website 👌
that Porsche looks so similar to our Promodet 964.. I wonder 👀
That 66 Chevelle is my favorite. On a genetic DNA level inside me. My parents and grandparents are Chevy people lol
What camera & lens' were you using at the dock?
Please do prints of this shoot!!!
Senna forever!!
MP4/7 What a thing
Damn missed a Larry Chen sighting in Tacoma lol
They gotta take the cup car to the ridge Motorsport park
When was this filmed? I'm 20 minutes away from Griots Garage for the next few months would have been great to finally meet you.
A beautifully used bar of soap 😂
Damn Larry we call Tacoma Tacompton
Hiii what’s your camera set up?
Larry. The still at 41:37 needs to be a purchasable print on your site. Like..that's a fucking amazing photo man
Yo shout out to the 253
That moment when Larry misspelt Ayrton Senna in his thumbnail.
"french..it's just.. French." 😂
When will the porsche episode from philippines be uploaded
I got gas and hot dogs at that gas station yesterday.
