      @Luis I am very pleased with my Fiat, after a year of driving around , I can't complain , full charge ,driving in the freeways gives me 85 miles total, but street driving , I can drive 30 miles and it will only use 4-5 miles of battery range because of the regeneration braking, this thing is quick at take offs

    We never mention credits and always talk full MSRP for several reasons. The tax credit is not applicable if you lease. Credits do not reduce the value of the transaction as you have to file for the credit with your taxes. Most importantly, the credit's value is determined by your tax situation. The credit cannot turn your tax liability to a negative, so if you don't pay more than $7500 in federal taxes the value is reduced. You should always consult a tax professional prior to buying.

    My wife has this exact car (even the same color) and she absolutely loves it. I get to drive it on the weekend's and let me tell you it is the most fun car I have ever driven! It flat out rips on take off leaving others in the dust. It's so quiet and solid feel to it. I'm thinking about getting rid of my Lexus hybrid (22.5 average mpg) ad getting myself one. BTW you get $2,500 REBATE even if you lease it. This car literally pays for itself when you add up the fuel savings and gov. Rebates. How can you go wrong????

    The 500e bases its DTE on a much smaller sample size than the average car, as a result the numbers jump up and down wildly depending on the road. What I am saying is a more rational longer average coupled with a display of how many kWh remain.

    It should be noted about the cost that you can get a very substantial portion of the cost ($7500) rebated to you through the federal EV tax credit (plus a $2500 rebate through CA), which makes this financially much more attractive.

    • @electrictroy2010
      @electrictroy2010 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +DaeguKyle ONLY if you pay 7500 in taxes. The average tax liability is only 4000, so that's the amount of tax credit you would get back (instead of the full amount)
      .

    • @electrictroy2010
      @electrictroy2010 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +DaeguKyle ALSO you can buy one of these used for 9000 dollars, so a lot lot lot cheaper than new, even with the credits

    2020, nearly seven years later Fiat is no longer selling any version of the 500 in the US and there are hundreds of used 500e's for sale, why is that? I bought a used 2013 Abarth because they are a riot to drive, such a shame Americans don't get it.

    I was going to get the 500e but Fiat lied about the lease prices and were selling the car for extremely expensive prices compared to their 199 a month lease and 999 down, so i went with the Smart ED. I love the smart and its pretty quick but still wouldn't have minded the 500e since its way faster, that test drive with 3 adults in the car and it just hauled ass to 70 it was crazy.

    What is the average range of this car with a full charge? Did I miss that info somewhere in the video? I would think that would be the first thing mentioned, here in LA it's the benchmark number for all EV's. By the way I am a 500 owner but it's a 2019 Abarth, because if the car is not available with a manual transmission or trackable, I won't buy it.

    I would like to know what it costs to buy a KwH and compare cost-of-operation to a typical gasoline car. We don't burn gas to acquire electricity, so I suspect the cost-per-mile is much lower than a gas car.

    • @rp9674
      @rp9674 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I guess-timate $ equivalent of 60 to 105 MPG for power @17 cents /KWh (S.Cal). No timing belt change, no tune up, no California smog check, no oil change, fewer or no brake/rotor jobs. Goes through tires a little quicker than gas equivalent.
      The dream is to run it off solar.

    To correctly asses the quality or performance of an electric car, you ned to have algorithm data as per battery-controller-drivetrain-tire friction, system behaviour, provided by the manufacturer, as specifications in the form of "kilowatt/hours per kilometre/ton (mile/pounds)" as consumed from the electric meter, and adjusted for charger,controller and motor inefficiently.

    MPGe is dumb but as long as we have old guys making laws then we have to talk in their speak so they can grasp things. It has nothing to do with gas just dumb. What bothers me is he thinks this looks good like a Tesla LOL! Second that is a charger because it is the source of the power that the batteries will store. Third who sits in the back of cars like those....really! What does that matter in a car like that. I still think the Spark is better....electric version that is.

      Dumb idea stop trying to put a round peg in a square hole. Plain and simply tell me the amount of charge my battery gives and the distance. I don't need someone trying to correlate it to something else.

      @rayj-ht4444 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You did not get my post I said just what you just said with the addition I don't need a gas variable included to understand cost. When I say size of the battery I'm talking about how many kwh then I need to know the RANGE . I don't need to know a gas equivalency.

    • @rp9674
      @rp9674 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use battery percentage and trip meter, ignore the mpge and the range estimator.
      Used Fiats were $2,000 less, faster level 2 charging, quicker 0 to 30mph.
      SparkyEV has a great dash and better back seats. If someone could come up with an aftermarket fix to those ugly nostril headlights, it wouldn't look too bad, the proportions are all wrong.

    24 kWh capacity lets you drive 111 miles. Here in California we’re paying on average around $0.30 per kWh to PG&E (yes the overnight EV rate is a lot lower but do you really plan on shutting off the power during the day? At least voluntarily? Makes more sense to use the average if you’re getting raked over the coals for your daytime use.). So assuming around a 20% charging efficiency loss we’re looking at $9 to go 111 miles, or around 8 cents a mile. This translates to around 49 mpg to go the same distance for the equivalent amount of regular unleaded at $4 a gallon.
    By contrast even at $4 a gallon regular unleaded a modern Prius can be run for around 7 cents a mile. And the numbers will be even worse if you use commercial chargers. And you get to pay thousands of dollars extra upfront for the privilege. Still not buying the economic argument for owning an EV.

      Looks like you really made it not work. I live in Southern California, 17 cents /Kwh off peak, I charge near work at 18 cents /Kwh. Range is approximately 55 MI, mostly freeway. 3+ years, no problem.
      If you don't want to make any accommodations, you should stick to a gas car.

    • @viffer94
      @viffer94 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rp9674 You can look up the PG&E EV rate plans yourself, the current rates are 19 cents per kWh off peak, 39 cents mid peak and 50 cents on peak. A straight average would be 36 cents per kWh so if anything I’m underestimating the actual cost. It’s great if you live in a part of the country where you’re paying 5 cents but that’s just not the reality here in Northern California.

      S. Cal SCE time of use D prime plan is 19c/KWh 9p - 4p I only charge at low rate, no prob, I think it used to be 17c. Charging near work is 18c/KWh. I know 2 places I can charge free, but they're not worth the inconvenience.

    Fiat didn't want to make this car. That's why it's only available in California and that's why it doesn't support rapid charging.

      I'm 6 ft 2, wish it had telescoping instead of tilt. I have a bad shoulder and it hurts it. You can install an extension spacer but it's over $200 in a fair amount of work.
      The regen is good on this car, I like that it uses a little regen in coast & more in braking. Regardless of what a display says you get average or better range for this battery size EV, on par with BMW i3.

    two facts: i own a modern 500e and second: sadly you use miles instead of kilometers and gallons instad of liters, which measures the rest of the world has no chance to understand and more: they are reciprocal to ours, namely not km/kW but kW/100 km like our usual l/100 km. i wonder when you eventually will abolish those kind of medieval measures....
    i can add my personal experience with the modern new 500e. it has a 42/37 kW battery with a WLTP range of 320 km (199ml), can be charged either 3-phase wallbox in about 3,5 hrs, or 20-80% high voltage in 30 min. with an emergency cable you can charge it on 220vV in about 13 hrs. the infotainment/information is with a 10" touchscreen, you have differend view modes of the speedomert, even the navigation can be shown. you can choose between low battery model with 24 kWh, my version and e luxury edition la prima/By Bocelli with "full house " feature. you can buy it as a convertible (+3000) and a third door on the right (+2000] the prcies have risen a lot, yor know ther reasons (Putin/Ukraine/raw materials)instead of 31.000€ last year my Icon version costs 35.000 now, by bocelly costs 39.000€ (prices 2023)
    it is a completely new construction with slightly greater sizes (+6 cm b/w)
    i bought it last year, urban consumption 11-12 kW/100 km in daily urban use, ( =17Wh/100ml or reciprocal 5,9 miles/kWh.
    i am very satisfied (contented?), it is an ideal car for us elder couple. it needs nearly no maintenance, becausde ther is nothing to maintain🙂
    we sold our BMW and never regretted it, it offers all (and more than) we need.

    Best looking All Electric behind the Tesla. Fiat should use the Tesla technology now that Musk gave it out for free.

    • @AAutoBuyersGuide
      @AAutoBuyersGuide  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well, Tesla hasn't handled the legal side of their patent release yet. Even if they do however there would be little benefit to the other companies out there, there is little in Tesla's patent portfolio that is earth-shattering. There are battery, motor and control system patents, but are they inherently "better" than the similar patents from the other car companies? It's hard to say.

      +Alex on Autos FIAT and also Ford could gain benefit from Tesla's level 3 superchargers (500 volt). I drove the 500e last night, but the lack of level 3 was a dealbreaker. I don't have to stand in a parking lot for 3 hours while the car slowly fills
      .

    For example, for the 24Kw/h you put in the pack, you have to consume 27ish* and then the controller and motor use only about 20Kw/h and waste the rest as heat, therefore you pay for 7K for every 20 actual Kw/h used in motion. witch is a whopping (30+%)compounded inefficiency.
    Some electric cars are more electric than others.

  • @dcuccia

    Let me see. A 24 kWh battery, 1.21 GW of electricity....
    (2.4 * 10^-5 GWh) * (3600 seconds/h) / 1.21 GW = 0.0714 seconds
    So, assuming a flux capacitor and ignoring wiring current limits...if the whlole time travel process takes roughly less than a 10th of a second...this electrical sucker might actually pull it off!
