- We have an overwhelming amount of VHS and DVDs in our studio, but instead of sift through those to help get rid of some of our library, we decided to watch three new movies that are only available on streaming! It's Mega Lightning, Shuny Bee's Fight of Fury, and Birdemic 3!
Also the two leads in Mega Lightning apparently also star in that terrible looking Winnie the Pooh horror movie that just came out. - บันเทิง
I played the "Surfer Guy" in Birdemic 3! Shockingly, only one camera was used in that scene on the beach. I have no idea how the two takes look so different lol. And yeah, James has already announced that there will be a 'Birdemic 4: Garden of Eden', so get excited haha.
You guys have been my favorite channel on TH-cam for years now, so this was such a cool and surreal experience to see myself in an episode. Cheers!

That's cool! What I'm wondering is, ok, Birdemic got a lot of attention so the director made a sequel. Is he really trying to make a good movie or does he refuse to improve is craft because this is what made him famous?
Whoa! You can't leave it at that, mate. I know it was a relatively short scene, but I'd love to know how that dialog was chosen. Like, there's no way anyone could convince themselves that humans actually talk to each other like this, right?
Next time you see James please sit him down him down and force him to watch the movie 'Shuny Bee's Fight of Fury'. Then for 7 hours proceed to tell him in a firm and direct voice while pointing at Shuny on the movies cover - "This man is your superior in every single conceivable way. As a film maker, a director, as a man, even as a father and more so even as a human being. You are not this mans equal and never ever will be. Not even in the darkest fantasy of a goblins nightmare could you be considered this mans equivalent".

Jay getting drunk and falling asleep in the theatre because he hated Birdemic so much is maybe most RLM thing I’ve ever heard
The only time I fell asleep in the theater was when I got drunk watching Predators.
I've never had alcohol in my life and I almost fell asleep watching the Rifftrax version of Birdemic. The amusement of bad bird special effects wears off quickly, and most of the movie is not even that, but boring crap like people driving around and having boring conversations. If you've seen a couple of clips of bad bird effects on the internet, that's all you need to see.
I got drunk and fell asleep during Rogue One a star wars adventure.

Everyone who is a fan Star Wars fan who I talked to either liked it or hated it based on whether or not they grew up with or appreciated The Clone Wars tv show, and those who did usually loved how it kept the same vibe as being a story about _soldiers_ and the complex task of rebelling against a overwhelming enemy force.

Be careful, James Nguyen gets butthurt really easily. About six years ago, he threatened to sue me for ten million dollars because I included a Birdemic parody in my graphic novel. He filed a DMCA complaint against me on multiple platforms and had my work taken off Amazon and most other publishing platforms. I didn't have the resources to fight the multiple complaints he filed back then and eventually had to end the whole series because of it. I hate that man.
If it makes you feel better the two main actors in the first birdemic don't like him either.

That's a real shame. If it were really not only a parody but part of a larger original work and thus transformative, it's protected by at least one clause of fair use, invalidating the DMCA claim.
Not that I'm a legal expert or that IP law is straightforward, but these copyright trolls rely on the fear or lack of knowledge and resources of smaller players to effectively commit perjury and get away with it. It's infuriating as both a creative and a consumer.
Anyway, sorry your work suffered at the hands of someone who's not only inept but dishonest, and best of luck in your future projects.

I'm happy to inform you all that Shuny has been tweeting frequently about Fight of Fury 2 Annihilation and posting production photos.

His kickstarter ended and failed in Febuary this year. Made about half than what was intended. Really hope he still gets to complete it. Production photos help. Passion projects like that deserve recognition.

Remember how in the 80's, women in movies really were bad at everything? Like 90% of movies with somekind of danger, had women either getting in to trouble or making things worse.
Even as a kid I thought it was bullshit. I'm glad it's no longer the norm, that shit was so aggravating.
I really want to sit down with James Nguyen and watch Vertigo from start to finish. During the first hour I can say, "do you notice how this isn't just a full hour of Jimmy Stewart and Kim Novak walking around going up to random people and random people talking about the concept of vertigo? Weirdest thing ever, but I actually worked with the guy who played "Taylor Swift"'s father in Fight of Fury. He smelled weird, showed up clearly drunk, and made me so uncomfortable that I rearranged the shooting schedule for the sketch my company hired him for just so I could get him out the door as quickly as possible.
He was supposed to be a weird drunk uncle though so it worked out. And he seemed to be happy to have the $50 we tossed his way for less than an hour of work.

@@jakobvanklinken I’ve known Shuny for years and he definitely had a vision. Really inspired to help bring it together but Wasn’t able to shoot the entire project. I came aboard for the last fight scene. All I can say is that the crew had fun despite the logic and technical aspects. I have bts from that day and would love to send to the RLM crew if they do a spotlight on the movie

I used to work at The Oriental and worked that terrible midnight showing! I also worked every The Room showing and saw Tommy sitting alone in the corner of our twinkly majestic 1927 movie palace while people laughed and applauded his suicide. He kept trying to connect with the staff and we kept pretending to be busy. I felt bad but it was also a sold out show. It's like a Twilight Zone where you get what you think you wanted but it is actually Hell.

The random scene of a MMA fighter asking Shuny to train him wasn’t an unfinished subplot. It was literally just an ad for Shuny’s actual martial arts school in Pasadena, which is why he says exactly where it’s located in the scene.

Yes! Shuny (pronounced Shoo-knee) Bee was my daughter's tae kwon do instructor when she was a kid! We went to a screening of his movie in Portland, Oregon around 2010. Great guy so it was hard to watch his movie in a theater WITH HIM. (I have to correct myself (March 27, 2023). The movie we saw was Gorkha Protector. It had a similar plot but was filmed in India.)
This crap was shown in a theatre? I wonder how long it took him to realise that absolutely NO ONE was calling for that sequel?

The kids' fight scene at 44:20 is better executed than like 50% of adult fight scenes in BotW movies.
It's because you aren't allowed to hurt children, so proper choreography is needed. Adult choreography consists of the choreographer smashing two Lego men into each other and says "do it exactly as I showed you".

James Nguyen shot Birdemic 3 on a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K. As soon as I found out, I messaged him and offered to color grade the film totally free of charge, as I use that camera on all my work. He never got back, and I was laughing at how bad the color grading was in the Final Cut.
These films have really inspired me to make my own movie. Seriously all you need is a cell phone and a Halloween store.
The destruction of so many copies of NUKIE has left not only a sizeable hole in my heart, but also sizeable hole on their wall of VHS tapes.

59:00 Jay is straight up telling us (at least his) editorial process for when they do these roundtable discussions to the movie. It's actually pretty fascinating. Makes sense, too - load all the footage as they progress, special care by that episode's editor, and then have the roundtable discussion be the last bit of business needed before finally getting through everything. What this implies is that there's a little bit of ingress before the gang gets together to film that last section of the video, as Jay would have had to fix up a bit more of the setup to be able to put the entire movie in the editing timeline and skim through it and THEN get the roundtable. I'm guessing that BotW, normally is a whole day thing and roundtable is normally held at night.
Yes, BoTW is typically an all day long activity, from what I understand, and a fairly grueling one at that. It's why you don't see guests that often, it's a real test of endurance.
They’ve made small comments previously that there is a large time gap between watching the final movie and the beginning of the discussion. I don’t remember what episode it is but I know that someone made a comment in the past along the lines of “Before [the discussion] we were talking about some other shit for several hours”

Seeing Mike getting increasingly drunk during the show is just the funniest thing ever. I also loved how it took the combined brain power of all four of them to make some sense out of Fight of Fury's story. And the "What....what....what..." moment around the 45 minute mark....just golden! All in all just a great episode, thanks guys.

Lots of comments about how there have been only two UK films on BotW before - Thunderpants and Xtro. Everyone seems to forget Slaughter High was also British because of the fine cast of English thespians delivering their lines in perfect US accents, putting Hugh Laurie as Dr House to shame in comparison.

The process of making movies back in the day means even bottom shelf crap was made by people who were mostly competent at the technical aspects of movie making. The quality of trash movies went down the drain as soon as VHS cameras came out and you could easily make a "movie" with a camcorder that shot on video tape.
