So we are back and finally getting caught up on the Ghostbusters Frachise with GHOSTBUSTERS AFTERLIFE. In Ghostbusters: Afterlife, when a single mom and her two kids arrive in a small town, they begin to discover their connection to the original ghostbusters and the secret legacy their grandfather left behind. It defines Ghostbusters for me this movie does an awesome job of connecting the first 2 films great story and cast I absolutely love this move it’s near and dear to my heart.

Ghostbusters Afterlife is set in the same Universe as the 1st and 2nd movie and set 32 years after the events of Ghostbusters 2. Afterlife is Ghostbusters 3 in the movie timeline, although the Ghostbusters video Game was said by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramus (who wrote the script for the 1st two movies and the Game) to be what they had envisioned as the 3rd movie.
Fun Fact in Ghostbusters 2 the lady on Peter's TV show says "The World will End on Feb 14th 2016" we got Answer the call in July 2016 lol

Afterlife was really good follow up from The Original Movies and how it respected the source material and honest the legacy and characters I really don’t mind the characters much they’re good and I really the scene with OG Ghostbusters all together even with the late actor hologram it was beautiful touch excited to watch the Sequel

When production began on “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” in the summer of 2019 they already had an Egon. Sort of. Reitman hired Bob Gunton, the talented, 76-year-old character actor perhaps best known as the sadistic warden from “The Shawshank Redemption,” as the on-set Egon.
“He’s this brilliant actor who came and performed the scene with the original guys, and he had to do the selfless thing of agreeing to be a part of a movie that you would never see him in,” Reitman said. (He also appears in the movie’s cold open, which establishes Egon’s demise and his existence as a shut-in in the middle of nowhere Oklahoma.)

1:44 this connects the first one. The director said that in the future the second one might come back in a future movie. It’s about 30-40yrs after the first one. Ivan Reitman was on set helping his son. The newest one isn’t directed by Jason but he is a writer and I believe a producer. This was a great way to say goodbye to Egon. 46:07 they used a body double to be the person on set and used old footage and some cgi to make it look like Egon.

Ivan was still alive at this point but it was Jason’s idea to do a new Ghostbusters movie, he made the whole film with his father sitting right beside him all the way.
Jason had a part in the 2nd movie too. He was the kid at the birthday party that told them they suck!

The 2016 Answer the Call movie was a reboot of the 1st movie with an all female cast and does not fit into the Timeline at all, as the 2016 movie does not even pay homage to the first two movies. (it was more a look we can do it better than men movie) it had cameos of the original cast yes but they were not the same characters

I hate that movie because I have seen Holocaust dramas that made me laugh more.
