Here's something they don't tell you about Highland cattle. Originally they were mainly black. They were driven south, out of the Highlands of Scotland in the 18th and early 19th centuries to the great trysts (auction sales), where they were sold, slaughtered, butchered, salted and barreled, mainly to feed the Royal Navy. On the roads south from the Highlands, they had to graze and pass through the lands of other clans, such as the MacGregors, whose lands were in the Trossachs. The MacGregors and their ilk (remember Rob Roy) made a large part of their living by demanding payment to allow the driven cattle to pass through and rustling them if payment was not forthcoming and sometimes even if it was. Consequently, they were not popular, were declared outlaws and the payment became known as 'blackmail'' (originally a 'mail' was a tax) because the cattle were mainly black. The word still has the same meaning and connotation today as it had then.

Did I hear 30000 pounds doesn't sound like a lot???
they're all hair. I've seen a large, select herd in BC and the top weight was 1,000 lbs. if that.
@user-ov4mk9ox8y that's fair. I do t know their details but there is a nearby highland farm as well as a few jerseys and the difference is insane
billion or million?
They look a little bit like the longhorn cows in texas
0:35 History of the BWEED. I think there's an "R" in there somewhere.
