Breaking the Lightstrike Pro in in the Boston 12, felt extremely uncomfortable (and I still don't like that shoe much). So when I recently got the Adios Pro 3, I fully expected to hate it for the first 40-50 K. Boy, was I wrong! The AP3 felt absolutely amazing straight out of the box. So much so, that I ran in it 3 days in a row. Very comfortable, stable, and bouncy. I totally get why some people use it as their daily trainer.
I still got my Asics Magic Speed 3 and it is awesome and don't have much competition for this fast trainer with normal foam . Now with the Magic Speed 4 ,with high stack middlesole, it is in a dangerous crowed territory. I love Asics, it is my favorite brand, but for this category I would rather get like : -Adidas adizero Boston 12( or 13 soon enough); - Mizuno Wave Rebellion Flash 2 ; - Puma Deviate Nitro 3.
I think for these type of shoes, the plated training partner, that an old pair of race day plated shoes are better. Even last year’s super shoes on discount are cheaper than these. Probably better to get a MetaSPEED + (currently sub £160)
Just got a new pair of Boston 12. First pair did a lot of km. Not that I have tried all these shoes but it is the perfect road running shoe for me. Speed 3 is great as well but Boston 12 suits me a little better. There are so many of these plated trainers now its hard to choose🤔
Those are 2 totally different types of shoes start with... then Magic 3 and Magic 4 are different as well. Your Boston should compare to Superblast 1 instead.
I just ran 16 out of the box with these and they feel like the edge plus with extra stack. Other reviewers said the Brooks max two was too firm. Good review. They are probably firmer than I wanted, but I have too many mushy shoes.😂
I found my MS4 a bit too long at the same size I bought my Novablast 4 in. The thumb space width at the toebox was about a thumb and a half. Did your shoe feel a bit too long as well?
Still torn between vaporfly 3 and asics magic speed 4 for my speed sessions, any suggestions? (I’m currently rocking pegasus 38 & novablast 3 for my dailies)
I also wanted the Boston 12s, but Adidas changed their fit to a narrower toebox with the 12's (from the 11s), and that didn't work for me. The Magic Speed 4 is a better fit. So that is why I chose the MS4. Fit>tech!
Thanks Fordy, love your work. I think for a carbon plated up-tempo shoe I'm enjoying the Puma Deviate Nitro 2. And back in the day my favourite was the Nike zoom tempo. That was such a good shoe.
I'm curious how the stiffer foam will be for a heavier runner? I'm a hybrid athlete, so I lift 5-6 days per week and run 4-5 days per week. I've been doing a lot of Zone 2 training but still like to get some interval training in as well. I'm 5'11, 215lbs but consider myself to be in pretty good shape. I'm a sprinter transitioning to running more 5-10k races just to have some fun as I get older. Either way, that's a round about way of asking whether you think the stiffer foam will break in better for guys/gals like me? I love my Metaspeed Sky Plus Paris and turned in a 16:30 on my first try, which turns out is pretty good lol. I had no idea what I was getting into. My buddy signed me up and said to run fast...seemed simple enough.
Got so hyped up when shoe released, from asics web i got impressions that most in it is turbo foam - but it looks like another example of stacking little sliver of exiting foam in the shoe that you wont even notice it is there - So basically it seems asics killed fantastic workout shoe - v3 - and gave up instead mediocre "super trainer" with unnecessary high stack and amount of racing foam so their marketing department can blow it out as it is best thing after slice of bread - ill pass on this one, will check out hyperion instead - hope it runs as good as it looks lol
I think you just didn't get the purpose of this shoes. This is a speed/upper tempo shoe. If you go easy it won't be responsive. But as soon as you increase your pace, you will feel the responsive of the shoe.
What does everyone have against Brooks? I actually tried out the Brooks Hyperion Elite 4 and liked them quite a bit. They have one of the most breathable uppers I've ever tried. My feet barely sweat in them, even on hot days.
Endorphin Pro 4 has become my super trainer in my rotation, I know technically a race shoe but it's pretty durable and comfy.
It’s a great shoe
I have them and was asking myself what to do in them 😂.
It's pretty durable too!

Some foams just work
The pro 3 is amazeballs, waiting for the 4 to come out to get another pair of 3s cheaper.
@@theghostofpcs2391 - I raced in that shoe from start until it fell apart! - great shoe.
Love my pro 3's!!

I love to have a narrow shoe once in a while among the increasingly wider shoes... Some fun is needed 😅
Fun is the way forward
Better get the Adidas Takumi Sen's if this is really firm.
I’m 20 miles into the Hyperion Max 2 and now they are even better since they softened up a bit.❤

Good shout
Encouraged from this to stick to the Magic Speed 3 then, that was a good speed shoe. I've had my days running in hard running shoes.
Great video as always 🙌

Very hard

Which 'mushy' shoes do you recommend for daily slow, long mile training? Thanks
@@kellrockets101 probably new balance 1080 or Hoka Clifton
@Cellularsurfer thanks man! I may give them a try. Ive only tried the asics novablast 3, and thought they were decent

Watched the rest of your vid and you had the same comments! Did it affect your running gait?

I plan to use the MS4 as the training partner for the Sky Paris. Sadly, my order is delayed.
Nice teaser for the Hyperion Max II. I trust you won’t make us wait long.
What ever happened to the Glideride?
@@frankbenjamin6135 sources say Glideride Max releasing at Chicago Marathon expo.
Hi How long after your recent calf injury has it taken you to get back to those paces in that shoe?
7 and I’m not able to hold them for as long as I did 🤦♂️
Magic speed 4 or Boston 12 ?

Curious with the hyperion max 2
Thanks Fordy, love your work. I think for a carbon plated up-tempo shoe I'm enjoying the Puma Deviate Nitro 2. And back in the day my favourite was the Nike zoom tempo. That was such a good shoe.
Good choice!
I wish Brooks Hyperion Max came in wide too
Waiting for your endorphin elite2 first impression
Wednesday
this or rebellion flash 2?
Neither
Propel V4 is £60 at NB right now. Is this worth the extra £100 for a faster daily? Cheers
Nope

Not for me, I use the Speed 4 or old carbon shoes like Vaporfly 2 and original Metaspeed Sky for my faster training sessions

Why can't Asics just give it the superblast treatment (basically a superblast in racing trim)?
@@macoyupadoodle no please not, SB is mushy
