I think given the nature of Honest Hearts it's understandable he didn't get a card, still rather disappointing. I'll take the Singular flavor text mention tho lool.
Don’t wanna build up too much hope, but there are going to be three Secret Lairs with Fallout, so like the Orks in Warhammer, maybe Graham was just a card that couldn’t find a home in the precons.
There is hope for the future because they didn't do stuff with they Fallout DLCs like Elijah, Ulysses, Sierra Madre, anything from OWB, None of the Fallout 4 besides maybe nuka world? I could see a Fallout MTG 2 set.
I think youre really underestimating Mr Houses activated ability. Yes 4 mana to roll once is awful but 4 mana to roll 5 and potentially get a full refund? Thats very solid
I can see him working as a sort of Voltron strategy where you try to make a lot of rogue and snake tokens and kill everyone with commander damage, maybe combine it with some equipments or auras to speed it up. (Not sure about the auras, there might not be any good auras for that in mono black)
I actually built him in the voltron theme and since it's mono black with the right set up you can ramp really fast and make enough mana to recruit your own rogues. Also since it's mono black I added a reanimator sub-theme. It works decently well and he gets scary pretty fast
I'm glad I preordered Mothman. It was one of my fav enemies in Fallout. I love cryptids! Curious to see what good enhancements the deck will flow with...
Mine is already set up in Archidekt and I'll be pulling the cards for it later on today. Naming it Mr. Fun House because I want to be dumb with it and dip into attractions.
I actually really like Preston (Yes, even in the game FIGHT ME) Yeah, he's got an enchantment theme which has a LOT of support and they can feel kind of samey, but untapping enchanted lands is pretty unique, and the fact that he untaps all enchanted PERMANENTS makes him pretty fun as a pseudo vigilance enabler. I think the aggressive playstyle breathes a little life into enchantress as a theme. Also, Aggravated Assault in a Preston deck is absolutely chef's kiss.
I’m blown away that Tomer, the artifact player of the group, doesn’t understand that Liberty Prime needing to sac an artifact each turn is not a down side. And that also gets a card draw every turn as well, while Madison Li needs to cast 3 artifacts to get a card draw. Pretty sure Liberty Prime is actually the stronger commander. Li “does more things”, sure, but LP will win more games.
Caeser seems sweet. Its attack trigger doesn't require you to attack with him, so you can attack with any value creature, sac that creature, get 2 1/1s and draw a card. Essentially, the floor is that you can cash in any creature for 2 1/1s and a card draw.
Raul is really exciting for Araumi of the Dead Tide. Sometimes, you mill over noncreature spell that you can't get back that you'd like to cast like Panharmonicon or Intruder Alarm.
Good review here! I think you are spot on with most of it, but I have one thing I'd like to add as constructive feedback. I will preface, I'm a bit of a purist artifact nut, so as a warning I'm biased lol, to me Liberty prime is strictly better than Li for the deck and here's why: 1. Liberty prime can sac to himself at instant speed, you get instant value to your coffers of charge counters if he is targeted, ensuring he gets another attack after he is cast again. 2. His sac ability can create evasion allowing you to recur him from the graveyard if you so wish, the graveyard is a resource too. 3. Liberty Prime triggers other card abilities because he himself IS an artifact whereas Li is not. 4. He's a hefty boy. As an 8/8 with Vigilance, Trample, and Haste he is immediately a threat on the field that can kill opponents with relative ease. 5. Producing charge counters in this deck is a non issue, so you will be able to use him pretty easily with 17 instances of charge production. 6. 11 non-artifact creatures in this deck including Li, every one of them is doing different things somewhat unrelated to Li, but they almost all look to play with artifacts? So I see a benefit there. 7. Cost vs. Abilities, Li has a lot of abilities for only being 3 CMC and they are helpful! She herself doesn't have game-ending qualities as much as LP does, why not capitalize on the big body and go tall while increasing your overall ability to win? With mechanized production as a secondary win condition to make your opponents have to think what's more critical to remove. 8. Li is fragile, at 2/3 she is bolt range, but also removal will slow you down in this deck either way, so might as well get an instant spank-a-tron to hopefully beat the ever-loving shit out of your opponents. I just see more opportunity here by using Liberty Prime as a commander in this artifact-laden deck. I'm glad you kept him in your "commander" tier but he's certainly a playable replacement for the commander slot and synergizes well with this deck.
I just wanted to draw some parallels that I think Tomer missed. First, while I've seen a lot of comparison between Taggerdy & Winota, the real comparison should be to Shadowfax. Taggerdy trades being lower MV & a bit of card draw for having a battalion trigger and losing haste. There is a slight difference in how they pick what creatures they play and that Taggerdy will want more small bodies to get battalion, but the deck will be very similar. Second, for Rex, while he did reference Necrotic Ooze it is more helpful to look at Mairsil & Kraj as they are both Blue-X legends with a similar design. The goal of both is to assemble some combination of abilities to either amass tons of value or combo. Although you have to worry about energy for Rex as well as attacking a few times with him, he has the benefit of being able to activate the abilties of each card any number of times as well as not having his the cards he is borrowing abilities from not be interactible. While not having 3 colors like Mairsil, the benefits he does have do help carve out a solid distinction between him and the others. Once the brain counter cards are set up, it should be easier & more reliable to combo
36:30 One more things with Jason Bright is he punishes/benefits from -X/-X board wipes. So doing something like Toxic Deluge/Black Sun Zenith, or even dropping an Heartless Summoning to debuff your creatures will trigger the card draw when the creature dies.
MacCready seems criminally underrated. It may not be a huge deterrent, but that life drain can add up pretty well. He seems like he'll be right at home in Doran decks as an extra evasion piece with upside.
56:58 I have a question on Cait, Cage Brawler. For the indestructible, would that include in the grave? Like, does it add the Keyword Indestructible, or is it just indestructible on field? 🤔
Question. Strong creates Rad Counters when damaged, right? Not "combat damage". Just, "when taking damage"? What if you put him in a deck with a bunch of 1 damage pings and just tickle him nonstop?
Colonel Autumn and Elder Arthur Maxson both feel like they were built to hang with Marneus Calgar out of 40K. That precon is maximum tokens forever, and both of those cards feel like awesome utility for all those tokens.
I'm running Mothman and the rad generators that don't require interaction in my Muldrotha the Gravetide deck. They really put in work once they start going.
Rex is an Azorius flavored Mairsil. Very combo strong, and in the best colors for protection, with looting attached. The exile being sorcery speed is the only thing that hurts on that card. Already been testing it, and fairly easy to infinite off.
As someone who has just made a Mr. House deck i can tell you it is so fun! It takes some time to get used to all the dice rolls, but once you know what everything does by heart. You start to feel like a dealer in a casino. If you don't mind rolling a lot of dice i have to say 8/10 deck.
@thornelson1411 You could make that argument about any deck. Why have less colors when you could have more? Because I want less colors sometimes. Land base cheaper, deck building more nuanced. Myrel is also a nuclear bomb in the Zone. I had a Myrel deck so oppressive I didn't build it in paper.
Building Mr house with the atractions from unfinity. Gonna be makin Vagas on my board Also Preston is a bit more than just enchanting lands, he untapped creatures as they attack, keeping up big blocks or letting them tap for abilities
In a go wide deck I could see overseer of vault 76 being great. My mono white deck would trigger a 1/1 counter at least every other turn and give me vigilance to improve my attack phase repeatedly until she is removed
I think of James, Wandering Dad this way; If you're going to activate an ability that costs at least two colourless mana, would you like to spend a single blue mana, and get a 2/4 creature on top? If so, this is already good enough. If not, bear in mind that this creature also acts as a 2 colourless mana rock. The first part of that question really solidifies him for me.
I'm personally very interested in Mr. House. A factory of never-ending robots. There were a few good Robots in the Dr. Who decks with relevant effects and enough playable die roll cards to supplement from across Magic, plus obviously lots of potential artifact synergies. Mothman also seems pretty cool.
Overseer of Vault 76 hit the "Bad" category, And valid points, but I'm going to put her in my Eowyn, Shieldmaiden deck. Play overseer: Enters with a Quest counter, Go to combat, her trigger on the stack first, then eowyn, 2 2/2 knights enter due to Eowynn, 2 more quest counters on Overseer, Pop her buff. Maybe not commander material, but I feel it can go hard in decks that cram the boards with lots of tokens. (Cadira, Tendershoot dryad, the artifact variant of tendershoot dryad..))
Curie, Emergent Intelligence feels very powerful with Phyrexian Dreadnought and other similar effects. If you have it as the commander, then that’s like a one card combo that could very easily win you the game. Of course, it’s fragile to a lot of removal but you can always build the deck to fill that hole.
I'm going to try elder maxson in Marneus Carlgar, training all those tokens is spicy, and having an extra sac outlet that doubles as "anthem" is pretty good
I think MacCready's pillow fort is a bit undersold, imagine having two 5/5s on deck, you swing with 10 damage and end up doing 6, and taking 4 yourself. It pretty quickly makes someone just swing at another player. Then the go wide crack back is also evasive? Even in the 99 giving your go wide psuedo evasion for 2 mana is bad? Breh
I know Strong probably isn't good as Commander but I feel so compelled to try. Use his B E E F and fight spells to control the board and get rad counters, and use graveyard synergies for toolboxy stuff. He seems neat.
Curie is super fun to run as a commander! Cool, unique use for phyrexian dreadnought (since you can technically copy with Curie's ability in response), but especially fun since you can run it either as a mass card-draw machine (lab man win) or can use her as a pretty big hitter!
The reason there are so many Boros cards is cause the decks are Mardu, naya, jeskai, and sultai and the only 2 color pair that overlaps between them is red white which is in every deck but sultai
I have a feeling preston garvey is worth alot more than the tier you put it at. It could be nasty with aura enchantment decks. Also let me mention its naya. like 1 of the best tri color for big nasty creatures and going wide.
The way Tomer was wording things, I think he misread the last line of the card and thought that it only untapped enchanted lands. The fact that it untaps all enchanted permanents makes a huge difference.
Actually not even for an Aura deck. Just imagine it in the 99 of an Omnath Locus of all or Jared Carthalion. Its honestly a staple for any painbow deck
i've built a Nick Valentine deck, as he's my favorite character (next to Curie). i built him to be very artifact centric, along with Academy Manufacturer, and added a lot of ways to sac artifacts easily for extra bonus, and create lots of artifact creatures.
I’m surprised to see Butch Deloria ranked so low. I’ve been running unmodified Ceasar precon and that fact that his ability is only a two drop, and is permanent, is so useful for making the boros attacking style difficult to deal with. I was putting a bunch of one one counters on things with battle of Hoover dam, and other similar mechanics, giving them menace and it got out of control quick. To have these big things have menace especially with the amount removal mixed into the deck to reduce blockers was great to use. I don’t think Butch deserved to be at the bottom. Maybe as a commander, not the best for rogues and snakes; but as part of a 99 definitely a useful add.
Trick for Liberty Prime: you can use its Activated ability IN RESPONSE to his Triggered. Meaning you can declare an attack, then pay 2, tap, sacrifise an artifact, draw a card and pay the 2 energy you JUST got.
Rex seems pretty terrible in the 99, but as a commander it's definitely sporting some combo potential. If you've ever played Mairsil, the Pretender or Trayzn, the Infinite, then you know that stacking activated abilities on your commander can get silly fast.
I've played the Science deck a bunch at this point. The stock list doesn't have enough energy producers for prime to be consistent. After upgrades though, prime is way stronger.
I’ll be curious to see the new Game Knights - it’s hinted (beat over the head) that Kyle Hill wins in the most recent upgrade vid. He chose Liberty Prime as his commander, because he actually thinks the deck is way more supportive of its Voltron strategy than Li’s fiddliness.
I love The Master, Transcendant. Great cEDH combos / reanimation on a stick, and great for a more casual deck, also works well in sidisi and other Sultai decks.
Don't know if it's been said yet, but I'm SUPER stoked to get Red Death (the crab mutant) into my Ian Malcolm, Chaotician deck. That's a case where all three of those things are working for you.
Keep in mind with Liberty Prime that you can even sacrifice token artifacts with him to generate those energy counters. Sure she generates more energy easier but I don't think they're trying to use it or do the same thing.
I'd like to see how you'd upgrade some of these decks with cards that are exclusive to the boosters as well as cards that aren't. Might push a bit of "budget", but I think Fallout deserves an objective look at the cards only available in boosters and where they fit within the pre-cons or even outside them.
yeah lots of boros, 3 precons make use of the combination. Which runs thematically with fallout really well. Craggy wasteland not much green, the water is sketchy and sparse at best and the death is deep in there. And the Foe decks are the only ones that make use of black.
Piper makes for a pretty insane commander and finally accomplished my dream of mono blue voltron. Run piper with the blue umbras and some auras to give her unblockable or flying with proliferate and some of the new manor cards like Tanglegrove kelp and you can run away with the game by turn 6-7 with a 15/15 flying piper and 35 6/6 clue creature tokens.
Arcade Gannon; hear me out. Draw a card and discard a card is not bad in an artifact deck where your artifacts can come back fairly easily in other ways, but he also gets them back himself! His percieved slowness can be migigated in plenty of ways. Whether we find ways to untap him or just proliferate his counters as fast as possible. If we use him once and then proliferate twice, suddenly on the 2nd turn he went down he's bringing back a 3 cost, and then 3rd turn a 4 cost (and don't forget the 0 and 1 for turns 0 and 1) and in an artifact deck that is not afraid to discard, that's really not bad. I just think it's easier to get very good use out of him then we're thinking.
I'm running Preston as commander with Dogmeat and Threedog in the 99. Going auras + wide board. Multiple combats and preston resets your mana each time? Sounds fun to me
I think what your missong about Overseer of Vault 76 it's the fact that she gets counters from tokens as well. I think she's great in a tokens deck! (In the 99 obviously)
I'm brewing a Dogmeat deck with an Equipment primary and Aura secondary theme where I use Bludgeon Brawl and Dan Lewis to turn my unused Junk into Equipment!
I think for Mr. house there are some fun combos like vexing puzzle box and clock of omens. He’s also the first good dice deck that I’ve been looking for. I think the unique combos puts him higher for me.
There’s a lot of good legendary humans out there - Thalia and Myrel as example. I think Colonel Autumn deserves a shot as commander with human synergy.
Caesar and Faramir, Steward of Gondor are probably the best multicolored Soldier commanders. I know Faramir focuses on humans but a good chunk of those humans in azorius create soldier synergy.
Nick is a backup Eloise for Eloise, Nephalia Sleuth + March of the Machines combo. Paired with any Blood Artist effect, Nick, MotM, and any token artifact is infinite life loss for your opponents.
Have a friend who’s been running a house deck ever since he was spoiled and it’s absolutely absurd. I think the worst I’ve ever seen the deck has been 4 robots and 2 treasures on turn 4. Gets out of hand super fast.

What a silly question, Liberty Prime.
Liberty Prime hates commies. Nothing more American than that.

Liberty Prime would likely have been a secret weapon of Washington's if they had been losing the war. Though as for a 'Murica deck Washington would be the correct choice as one of the founding fathers and the first president of the United States.

but I'm going to put her in my Eowyn, Shieldmaiden deck.
Play overseer: Enters with a Quest counter,
Go to combat, her trigger on the stack first, then eowyn,
2 2/2 knights enter due to Eowynn, 2 more quest counters on Overseer,
Pop her buff.
Maybe not commander material, but I feel it can go hard in decks that cram the boards with lots of tokens. (Cadira, Tendershoot dryad, the artifact variant of tendershoot dryad..))
Really excited for the new energy decks, finally my janky kaladesh collection might be useful
Perfect video for the info I was looking for
Curie, Emergent Intelligence feels very powerful with Phyrexian Dreadnought and other similar effects.
Yeah, using Fight spells to trigger Enrage is a very cute strategy!
Curie is super fun to run as a commander! Cool, unique use for phyrexian dreadnought (since you can technically copy with Curie's ability in response), but especially fun since you can run it either as a mass card-draw machine (lab man win) or can use her as a pretty big hitter!
Nick being my favourite companion makes him an instant commander for me. Might just be something as simple as mono blue artefact Voltron
The reason there are so many Boros cards is cause the decks are Mardu, naya, jeskai, and sultai and the only 2 color pair that overlaps between them is red white which is in every deck but sultai
Something about Mr. House people seem to overlook. Unfinitiy attractions. At least 1 free D6 at the start of every single one of your turns.
As a card he deserves better and as a character he deserves to be where he’s at. “A settlement needs your help!”
It basically wants you to build a Chishiro type deck.
Actually not even for an Aura deck. Just imagine it in the 99 of an Omnath Locus of all or Jared Carthalion. Its honestly a staple for any painbow deck
No way if you build around liberty its way better
i've built a Nick Valentine deck, as he's my favorite character (next to Curie). i built him to be very artifact centric, along with Academy Manufacturer, and added a lot of ways to sac artifacts easily for extra bonus, and create lots of artifact creatures.
Red Death allowing your opponent to draw a card could give you more time as your opponent hesitates to fire off their Thoracle
Poop. What's that website he's using at 17:18? I was literally looking for that all day yesterday and can't remember it's name!!
Trick for Liberty Prime: you can use its Activated ability IN RESPONSE to his Triggered.
Meaning you can declare an attack, then pay 2, tap, sacrifise an artifact, draw a card and pay the 2 energy you JUST got.
As a guy named Ian who plays Ian the reckless as a commander he is NUTS!!! Built it as a meme and still wiped a full table of four on turn 6...
Rex seems pretty terrible in the 99, but as a commander it's definitely sporting some combo potential. If you've ever played Mairsil, the Pretender or Trayzn, the Infinite, then you know that stacking activated abilities on your commander can get silly fast.
I think the home for Nick Valentine would be the Dr. Madison Li deck!😂
I've played the Science deck a bunch at this point. The stock list doesn't have enough energy producers for prime to be consistent. After upgrades though, prime is way stronger.
Energy is making a comeback in Modern Horizons III apparently so fingers crossed.
Trying to make Liberty Prime work consistently is the challenge bc of the janky energy support available
@@goldbergbrainhe did win and omg he smacked them so hard with Liberty
Give Craig grafted exoskeleton. See if openets choose to take damage then.
Sarah Lyons is absolutely cracked in the 99 of a General Ferrous Rokiric deck.
Is she not just a hasted version of alibou, ancient witness?
52:05 You're forgetting the color she's in, she's going to be a lot faster with all the +1/+1 doublers green has.
Imagine thinking every legend ever needs to be a commander and not a way to stop someone from having 19 copies of a named character.
I love The Master, Transcendant. Great cEDH combos / reanimation on a stick, and great for a more casual deck, also works well in sidisi and other Sultai decks.
31:07 i can IMAGINE playing a 4 cost turn one with a board full of dudes but... how?
Tomer, something you skipped over is that Paladin Danse is a Knight, Sidar Jabari of Zhalfir will appreciate him and most humans are Knights.
I absolutely love Sarah Lyons. Unfortunately I've never played fallout 3 but I'm making a deck where she's the commander and I'm having so much fun
As a Gannon, it is my mission to break Arcade Gannon as a Commander. I'll get back to you with the results in about a hundred years..
Don't know if it's been said yet, but I'm SUPER stoked to get Red Death (the crab mutant) into my Ian Malcolm, Chaotician deck. That's a case where all three of those things are working for you.
Preston being bad is a great flavor win.
Cause he's fuckin awful
Yeah but another settlement needs help, I will mark it on your map
Bro only put Preston in Bad because he doesn't want people that play him to swing with him and say "Another settlement needs our help."
"James, you're a good dad."
Thank you, Tomer ❤️
Lily Bowen + ozolith and couple proliferate cards could get pretty insane. In a +1+1 counter deck
Keep in mind with Liberty Prime that you can even sacrifice token artifacts with him to generate those energy counters. Sure she generates more energy easier but I don't think they're trying to use it or do the same thing.
Sophia seems like a slam dunk for a Galadriel deck. Not to mention a flavor win!
I'd like to see how you'd upgrade some of these decks with cards that are exclusive to the boosters as well as cards that aren't.
Might push a bit of "budget", but I think Fallout deserves an objective look at the cards only available in boosters and where they fit within the pre-cons or even outside them.
I think you misread Mr. House's bottom text. You can roll 4 dice if you use treasures to pay the cost.
yeah lots of boros, 3 precons make use of the combination. Which runs thematically with fallout really well. Craggy wasteland not much green, the water is sketchy and sparse at best and the death is deep in there. And the Foe decks are the only ones that make use of black.
Ya no liberty prime is so much better in the precon as the commander 8:00
Sounds fun to me
Paladin Danse is going to be a slam dunk in my Ich-Tekik+ Rebbec golem deck, which is an artifact deck with 2 commanders that happen to be humans.
Curie is basically nuts with cards like Phyrexian Dreadnaught
Id love to see your builds for the commanders from the set that excite you. If not full build broad strokes of themes and ideas
Step 1 play Caesar Step 2 graft his exoskeleton Step 3 profit
Gets out of hand super fast.
yeah house is really strong and seems to be underrated by a lot of people
It's probably because they assume he only works with D6s while he really shines with D20s.
