@@_moonw0man isn't it gorgeous? also the damn lyrics somehow manage to precisely describe every stupid shoot-self-in-foot thing I did in relationships a few years back... Was Widowspeak spying on me? lol
What you were, what it was You were fixing to get lost I tried to tame you, it wasn't long 'til you were takin' off Lightly, I was on your mind Lonely on the road at night You're still a wild one, but what is it you're running from? All scared, like you're staring down the barrel of the gun No pistol could get you, no rifle could shoot fast enough Some try to love you, but it's never long before you shake 'em off Lightly, I was on your mind Lonely on the road at night Lights so low and glare in your eyes Jump the gun and you were too shy Lightly, I was on your mind Lonely on the road at night Lights so low and glare in your eyes Jump the gun and you were too shy
that's the type of music style she sings, it leaves room for imagination, a duality of meaning. Like poetry, its set in words but the meaning differs from person to person, I think its the same with this song, uncertainty is a part of life, hence a good musician incorporates that in my opinion
They are from Brooklyn, New York but have formed a decent following in the Vancouver BC/ Seattle US area; when they played in sea-town a couple of years ago I knew nothing of them, so I imagine NYC area mostly, nice sounds eh :)
I want to personally track the 4 thumbs down and find out what they were thinking...but the music is just too dreamy to care. Their personalities are just as captivating as the music they play-such inviting and kind people, really.
Musically I really like this band and I like the singers voice. I think she just needs to sing clearer because I never know what she is saying I dunno is it just me?
I've been obsessed with this song lately, came for the moody dreamy ethereal vocals and catchy guitar line, stayed for the lyrics that cut deep.
same! so beautiful...

I still can't stop listening a year later.
hello person from 11 years ago
What you were, what it was
You were fixing to get lost
I tried to tame you, it wasn't long 'til you were takin' off
Lightly, I was on your mind
Lonely on the road at night
You're still a wild one, but what is it you're running from?
All scared, like you're staring down the barrel of the gun
No pistol could get you, no rifle could shoot fast enough
Some try to love you, but it's never long before you shake 'em off
Lightly, I was on your mind
Lonely on the road at night
Lights so low and glare in your eyes
Jump the gun and you were too shy

I don't know how many I've already watched this video. Can't get enough. Such an awesome song.
I saw them live last night, she sings so lovely and passionately. i loved them
This album is now 10 yeas old 😭😭😭
A little bit like mazzy star. Sounds great to me!
Wow! So good, and I like the way they sound, bassist not needed.
it was a pleasure playing with you at the crocodile in seattle on thursday! your music is beautiful :)
-rob. piano piano.
I love this band
This is a great live recording. It's sounds so good, it's almost like she's lip sinking.

I can think of a time in my life that these lyrics seem to describe perfectly, but that's just me.
I just woke up to KEXP playing Widowspeak (Gabe Beeson's night show).
sweet.
A long time ago live music sounded like this. Like, before Google.
I was at this show! Rad.
was the whole 'people continue to do work on your laptop' curated by the CMJ/KEXP team on purpose
That's part of the trip

+Sister Sister That's because the lead singer is from the Pacific Northwest-I believe she's from Tacoma.
Seriously, when I saw them live, some people were texting with their "i-Craps" in the middle of such a wonderful performance! Show some respect.
@TwistedSpeech you're right on that my friend! =)

Is not just you, just go online and read the lyrics like the rest of us. It's worth it!
It's not just you. I have no idea what is she singing about, but I don't care much about the lyrics anyway.
This was a great performance, maybe the vocals were a little too loud to be able to enjoy the rest of the music.
mazzy star reincarnated
🚶
Could just be a shite PA system
