Part 3 of a short documentary I produced on Legendary Blues Rock Musician Rory Gallagher. Part 1: • Rory Gallagher - A Doc... Part 2: • Rory Gallagher - A Doc...
Was just watching Shadow Play from Belfast 1984 for probably the 25th time (absolutely brilliant) when I came across this. Really excellent film and took me back to the live performances I was lucky enough to witness in Sheffield and Leicester in the early seventies. I was at a party when I heard he had died - I was devastated and went straight home. The man has no equal in my view. Great film, many thanks.
Beautifully done! I'm new to Rory Gallagher. I bought the Ghost Blues dvd & was completely blown away! I cannot believe I slept on this guitar slinger for all these years. I used to read about him in magazines as a teen but never got around to buying his records. Silly me, indeed. He's truly amazing! Crazy how a lot of the greats die so young. I'm loading up on all Rory swag I can find.
and the flow of his wonderful spirit continues... it woke me to it's awesome energy and asked me to Follow him....eternally wrapped in his blues :~) lovely Documentary
@djconFFS Thanks for your comment. That was the narrator's point really - this short was released 12 years after Rory's passing. The main thing that inspired the documentary was the timelessness, relevance and strength of Rory's incredible music - even the opening gambit citing some 'mainstream' musician's comments and feelings on Rory were there to augment this. Don't for a second think that the timelessness of great music is lost on me :)
Rory was the eight. Wonder of the world he was all things good ,pity God threw away the mould after he was born R,I,P, we will never see the likes of hem again sigh, Margo
I saw him several times in Belfast, was at the '84 'Rory at Midnight' gig. I really enjoyed this 'Documentary Short' got the hairs standing up on the back of my neck with Rory nostalgia. We miss him because we loved him and the music he was...
Big Barry said it," an absolute genious",I saw Rory 13 times (6 with Taste),the greatest guitarist I'll ever see,Thanks for this 3 part documentary Matt, just fantastic!! 1,000,000*
Rory had a very rare blood type, making his sweat very acidic, which contributed to the dtripping of the paint off his guitar. Also the guitar was stolen at some point and left outside which also contributed to this.
@daviddara333... Even old strats still had a nitro finish, woulda taken more than a few days outdoors. I checked on it, but can't for the life of me remember what his condition was called. :)
i was 1 when he died and i think he is the best guitar player ever i hate so muhc music thats around nwo besides indie music better be anothe rlegand coming around some time soon oh and rory appartenly grew up around where i live

I've heard that Rory had a rare blood condition that made his sweat highly acidic, thus contributing to his strat's "no-burst" finish. If anyone can confirm or deny this, i'd live to hear from you!
@screenpuller haha ar ye serios? and i taught it was because it was thrown in a bush for a few days which destroed the paint job and then further wear from playing it?
Keeping his Spirit Alive Makes him a legend. He New he had a special talent.making music wasn't a Job it was his life .

@screenpuller I think it's a combination of his sweat and the nitro finish. The nitro comes off really easy anyway.
