About Isabel de Poigny: Her father is involved in a very serious case of corruption and stealing money from people in Argentina (around 2000-2008). I'm not going to fault these young women for simply being born into wealth. I will fault those who deserve it for terrible taste, awful hair, and other such things others have rightly commented on here. Bottom line, they may be sickeningly rich, but they're just people at the end of the day. They make bad choices. They have stomachaches. They feel less than. They hate their moms. They just broke up with their boyfriend. They don't want to be there. You know, people. Do I despise these shameless displays of wealth when so many can barely feed their families? Absolutely. But this isn't the place for an ethics discussion. So I'll just say... I really dislike the strapless style we're seeing lots of where it starts quite low so that it looks almost like we're about to get a show we most definitely do not want. Far too much space between the armpit and the top line of the dress. Pull it the hell up, it's very distracting! Oh, and Apple's armpit hair, WTH? That's GOT to go. No doubt Gwyneth is fine with it, but no. Just no. Gross. Finally, in a sea of ugly excess, the day was absolutely saved by the beautiful Rysa Panday who looked stunning from head to toe. Gorgeous dress, fit perfectly, almost like the lemon sorbet served as a palate cleanser at an expensive dinner. So stunning, such perfection. She made all the difference just as I was about to jump out the window to save myself from having to look upon one more monstrosity.

The current "heirs" to the throne of France are descendants of Louis XIV and his mistress the Marquise de Montespon. One of their daughters married one of Louis' brother's sons, and Monsieur's descendants became the Bourbon rulers of Spain.
The Legitimist vs the Orleanist claims. I don’t know anything about either family now. It’s a lot easier to find out things about public faces who have been dead for a long time. Bourbons and Romanov-descendants hanging out in this crowd is really coming down in the world, though. Not that the Bourbons didn’t throw a disproportionate number of deeply mediocre people anyway. Some of these dresses might be the choice of the couture house loaning/donating the dress. The jewelry is all from one house which is why we see the same pieces ‘modeled’ on different debs. The black ruched shiny bodice is giving bin bag, sorry not sorry 😂 Love this video and non-celeb reviews of people who for real chose their dresses. The JPG is gorgeous, def my fave!
I was thinking of the fad when I was in school for creating prom dresses out of duct tape. (Not sure if that was a thing outside the U.S. but boy it went hard there for a good year or two, in the days before social media and all lol. Why did we all do it?!)
I actually loved that grey Dior ballgown with pleated bodice and fine polka dot skirt. The contrast with the necklace and her colouring and hair really looks stunning in my opinion. Not many people could carry this colour or gown off so beautifully
Honestly? I think drop waist chanel flapper dress chick ROCKED that fit. The dress is weird, for sure, but I think she looked great. She's also like one of the only girls that bothered to do something with her hair that doesn't look like she's late for school
All that money, jewelry, and opulence, yet no one notices beautiful young ladies with dried out, cracked lips in the photos. Total cringe when considering the concept of this ball.
I did a debutante ball (not nearly this fancy) because it was important to my grandparents, and we were required to wear white, full skirted floor length gowns. We also had to wear white gloves and learned how to curtsy. It was absurd. But you know what? We all did our hair.
I think if the flowers on Marilia's blue bubble-hem dress had started out smaller towards the waist, then gradually gotten bigger further down, it would have had a much more dynamic effect, and drawn the eye up towards her waist and face.
I am so sad because elegance is really dying. They have access to hairstylists, tailors, etc. and you mean to tell me that they look like this? They all look like they shop at the discount prom dress store or temu. And all these balls just seem so uninteresting to go to, everyone look like they are ready to leave as soon they enter. I'm gonna need rich people watch the original Dynasty to learn how to be rich properly cause this ain't it.
My grandmother's house did not have curtains the last time I visted because the people here are wearing them. I asked my grandma "why she did comb her hair"? She responded, " Baby, It's a Trend"! Grandma, "Where is your jewelry"? "They were stolen by the wealthy". Grandma Knows Best!

At least the Astro Turf dress didn't make a second appearance, I consider that WINNING! Love your channel Luke, and your witty repartee, always fun, and so knowledgable.
Ok this event is, y'know, what it is, but I have to put my foot down on the bad wearing of a piece of Victorian formerly royal jewelry. First of all, the ruby makes no sense with the baby blue. Second, if you're going to shamelessly flaunt your privilege in being able to possess and wear such a thing, have one of your many paid "people" STYLE IT CORRECTLY! There is no excuse for having it tip over backwards into your "messy bun." I would have expected much better from Blythe and Gwyneth. Tisk tisk.
10:00 I think she’s wearing the tiara incorrectly, it’s probably on a frame and it should be flatter. The frame should be touching her head so the jewels touch her hair/appear to float
I'm terribly sorry but some of those girls are very successful at making handcrafted haute couture gowns feel like some rental gown you'd rent last minute for your own prom.
My big thing is that almost all of the dresses have a high school prom vibe. They were pretty but also pretty boring. The dolce with the Sistine chapel skirt was kinda ugly. Just too much going on. The Elie was pretty spectacular but none of it was INTERESTING, you know? My two cents.
The fact that the French Revolution didn't completely kneecap the descendants of the monarchy from continuing to have legacy wealth is the most depressing part of this video for me. Down with the monarchies. Everywhere.
Just some thoughts... Isabel's nod to the crop top. Initially, I thought if only the skirt wasn't oversized. Then, if only there wasnt all the extra fabric at her back the skirt would be great. However, to answer your question about the "buckle", my mind went straight to a "Chastity Belt" nod. Lol... i had to go there. 😂
For HRH Princess Eugenia De Bourbon Vargas, her father is literally the pretender to the french throne (more precisely one of the three main pretenders). For monarchists, her title is Madame Royale
Marie Antoinette has no living descendants. These guys are clowns. Eugenia herself would never be in line for the throne, because in the French monarchy only men can inherit the crown.
Her father is also Franco’s great-grandson, her mother married a cousin of the former Borbon king, who is 80 and corrupt and living in Saudi Arabia and in debt with the Spanish tax authorities. Franco was a very nice dictator until his death and the Spanish government still has to spend money to demolish and clear his family stolen properties. So yes, what a nice dress this poor girl is wearing, because her family is the opposite of talent and success.
21:00 My issue with that era of Chanel, and this dress is a great example of it, is that it only works for one very specific body type, extremely thin, tall, and not curvy. I just think designers, if they want to grab my attention, should show they can design for a more inclusive range than that. I do think the dress really looks great on her though, she fits the aesthetic beautifully. So have no issue with the dress wearer, but am side eyeing the house.
For everyone complaining about their hair (valid) one thing about rich people is that fashion wise they are actually very very boring and too shallow to take fashion risks and that’s why everyone has beach waves
@@TabooTalz these girls’ primary point of reference is like… Hailey Bieber they want to look like her more than they want to look like their own mothers lol
I actually wonder if there’s a dress code, so a bare belly wouldn’t be allowed but with the mesh fabric it still “within the guidelines”. Just a thought because I’m pretty sure traditionally they would have had things that weren’t allowed since they were considered immodest.🤔

I thought it was a garbage bag fr
I actually loved that grey Dior ballgown with pleated bodice and fine polka dot skirt. The contrast with the necklace and her colouring and hair really looks stunning in my opinion. Not many people could carry this colour or gown off so beautifully
I loved the proportions of that gown. The color, not so much. Too muddy.
The Apple Martin dress? NO. It looks likes a toilet roll cover
Doesn’t fit right. The top part is too low on her frame, messy hair boo, and fake lips more boo. Can’t really see the jewel in her hair.
Oh, you totally win the comment of the day and it’s so….correct!!! LOL
And the pointless disembodied bow
it looks cheap to be honest.

The return of high-low skirts gives me 2010s shopping at Ross/TjMaxx…and it hurts 🙂↕️
Here for that JPG gown and the Elie Saab!
I think if the flowers on Marilia's blue bubble-hem dress had started out smaller towards the waist, then gradually gotten bigger further down, it would have had a much more dynamic effect, and drawn the eye up towards her waist and face.
I agree. As soon as it came up on screen I immdiately thought the flowers were too big and placed oddly on her dress
lol you’re hilarious. Love love your videos. “Loofaesque” 😂😂😂 you’re also gracious and kind. A wonderful mix.
But the STYLING! It's like they swanned in to the designer in lounge wear, put on a dress and was like 'Done!' Makeup, hair, jewelry; come on people!
It always amazes me when I watch your great videos how much we agree what's good n what has to go.
“German-Brazilian” given the history of Germans in Brazil … 😬😬😬
I really try not to make assumptions about people based on their ethnicities, but in this case 😅😅😅🤷♀️
LMAO I didn't even catch that at first oh nooo 😭😭😭😭😭
I don't think they want you to connect those dots...😂
literally thousands of Germans emigrated to South America both pre and post WWII. Many of these were legitimate refugees and it’s frankly appalling hearing sm jokes that equate them to Nazis. Sure, given this event I wouldn’t be shocked at something fishy going on in her bloodline, but I advise you stop making essentialist jokes that are insulting to people who may very well be descendants of emigrants that arrived to Brazil decades before the Nazi regime 🤷♀️open the schools fr…
The only history of germans in Brazil is the one where they immigrated before 1930's
24:14 does SAAB ever disappoint? The answer is no.
At least the Astro Turf dress didn't make a second appearance, I consider that WINNING! Love your channel Luke, and your witty repartee, always fun, and so knowledgable.
For the first gown with the terrarium sleeves, I think the word you're looking for is MODEST. And I'm okay with it.
Yes he did mention that the dress was modest. The input he gave was 'modest clothing could be cooler'.
It’s not just modest, it’s a dress for an old lady. It can be modest and young
I do wonder how much input these young women actually had in their "choices"
Ok this event is, y'know, what it is, but I have to put my foot down on the bad wearing of a piece of Victorian formerly royal jewelry. First of all, the ruby makes no sense with the baby blue. Second, if you're going to shamelessly flaunt your privilege in being able to possess and wear such a thing, have one of your many paid "people" STYLE IT CORRECTLY! There is no excuse for having it tip over backwards into your "messy bun." I would have expected much better from Blythe and Gwyneth. Tisk tisk.
The organizer, Renouard, of the ball takes care of everything: Dresses, jewelry, hair,
Your laugh at the beginning of talking about the cropped top dress killed me lol you're so low key hilarious I love it
😂😂😂😂😂the comments about the hair are gold
All of these dresses remind me of Homecoming dresses sold at The Deb in 2009.
why dont they ever do somethign with their hair.
10:00 I think she’s wearing the tiara incorrectly, it’s probably on a frame and it should be flatter. The frame should be touching her head so the jewels touch her hair/appear to float
The one in the crop top looks like she's sitting in a marshmallow!😂
The 1990’s called, and Kate Moss wants her hairdo back.
I liked Mina Muniz-Tschape's dress. Probably my favourite look of the event. Rysa's dress was nice too
I would love a post-le-bals tea spilling sesh. Some of these girls look like they only live for super petty drama
Apple Martin sure does. She is the definition of a Mean Girl. Even got kicked out of her previous school for bullying.
Heyyyy..thanks for this video ! It's so nostalgic. I attended this 11 years ago and I still keep the Oscar de la Renta dress that I wore.😊
Everywhere.
Mood.
woow you guys are soo cool and woke
@marismm6405 yes we are thank you!! 🥰🔥🧡
You realise legacy wealth isn't exclusive to monarchies, right?
Most of them aren't even aristocrat
It feels outdated to even have these events but I like seeing dresses. The John Paul Gaultier was my favorite!!
23:55 this. is. GORGEOUS. Absolutely gorgeous. Holy heck. LOOOVE!!! 😍
The first one looks like it has old news paper bags covering the flowers or it looks like when you buy a fish at the pet store
The way they all dance is BAAADDDDD !!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yes...super, unhealthily thin....and no bust...at all.
Apple's valentino was lovely, but it really needed a necklace to complete the look, it just looks incomplete without one
For everyone complaining about their hair (valid) one thing about rich people is that fashion wise they are actually very very boring and too shallow to take fashion risks and that’s why everyone has beach waves
acceptance by their peers is super important for them. otherwise they get relegated to the normies
I just don't understand why they didn't even do an elegant updo 😭 it's a tried and true rich person hairstyle
@@TabooTalz these girls’ primary point of reference is like… Hailey Bieber they want to look like her more than they want to look like their own mothers lol
Money can't buy taste
I would like Bravo to make a Debutantes Rules reality show or Real Debutantes of de bal or something. I would watch it 🍿🥤
Lucia Ponti‘s dress is the best! Elegant, classy, beautiful fabric. I Love it!
Her mother is Sasha Alexander, who was on NCIS and Rizzoli & Isles.
I agree. Something about it is elegant.
Her grandmother is Sophia Loren.
Chucky pandey i can't 😭😂
I actually wonder if there’s a dress code, so a bare belly wouldn’t be allowed but with the mesh fabric it still “within the guidelines”. Just a thought because I’m pretty sure traditionally they would have had things that weren’t allowed since they were considered immodest.🤔
Luke’s face on the preview says it all before I even watch it
They need to teach some of these girls how to pose too tbh
I would wear the most regency dress possible to a ball 😭😩
Thank you for telling us who each girl is because most of the names I do not know lmao
Mina’s dress was great, so young and fun. I think I love everything Elie Saab creates. ❤
I'm yet to see something as gauche as a D&G gigantic skirt with full colour church frescoes 😀 and brown velvet... Mamma mia.
