    About Isabel de Poigny: Her father is involved in a very serious case of corruption and stealing money from people in Argentina (around 2000-2008). As an Argentinian is really awful seeing the daughter of a man who left many families poor enjoy her life and being in those places because she doesn't have relation to royals (only a cool last name), just a lot of (stolen) money.

      @MorwenAncalime first you said all that needed to be said about the attendees and the period of fashion and trends currently.
      Second I am not understanding why everyone is perpetuating this no necklace minimum jewelry BS everywhere for so long. If there was a time to bring out the big ones, family heirlooms, borrow stunning pieces that come with body guards this would be it. But peer pressure and trends rule over individuality and the excitement and enjoyment of fashion. So sad.

    • @vialogan
      @vialogan หลายเดือนก่อน +12

      I'm not going to fault these young women for simply being born into wealth. I will fault those who deserve it for terrible taste, awful hair, and other such things others have rightly commented on here. Bottom line, they may be sickeningly rich, but they're just people at the end of the day. They make bad choices. They have stomachaches. They feel less than. They hate their moms. They just broke up with their boyfriend. They don't want to be there. You know, people. Do I despise these shameless displays of wealth when so many can barely feed their families? Absolutely. But this isn't the place for an ethics discussion. So I'll just say...
      I really dislike the strapless style we're seeing lots of where it starts quite low so that it looks almost like we're about to get a show we most definitely do not want. Far too much space between the armpit and the top line of the dress. Pull it the hell up, it's very distracting! Oh, and Apple's armpit hair, WTH? That's GOT to go. No doubt Gwyneth is fine with it, but no. Just no. Gross.
      Finally, in a sea of ugly excess, the day was absolutely saved by the beautiful Rysa Panday who looked stunning from head to toe. Gorgeous dress, fit perfectly, almost like the lemon sorbet served as a palate cleanser at an expensive dinner. So stunning, such perfection. She made all the difference just as I was about to jump out the window to save myself from having to look upon one more monstrosity.

    The way that tiara ‘floated/haloed’ is just the way that high end tiaras are built it’s not the tiara/stones that sit directly in the head but rather a lower band element, the issue in this situation being that it’s supposed to go with a proper do that would hide that element & therefore the tiara itself would not get buried! But in this instance just looks strange.

    the thing that gets me so much about the hair, is that it’s such a sign of entitlement and privilege. To be invited to this, to wear a designer and often couture dress and like wild jewels, only to then beach wave your hair???? Like you show no understanding of the garment and how it should be worn and the event you have the ability to be apart of. And it gives this lazy feeling, like they couldn’t be bothered. And then I just find that the dresses end up wearing them instead of them wearing the dresses. Like if you have this opportunity…. EMBODY that dress and the theme. Go full out!

      The Legitimist vs the Orleanist claims. I don’t know anything about either family now. It’s a lot easier to find out things about public faces who have been dead for a long time. Bourbons and Romanov-descendants hanging out in this crowd is really coming down in the world, though. Not that the Bourbons didn’t throw a disproportionate number of deeply mediocre people anyway.
      I’ve always felt really sorry for Marie Antoinette’s children, though. It seems like the consequences of bad decisions and vices fall all the time on people who were innocent of the actual wrongdoing. Even Louis XVI - his desperation to be liked paralyzed him to the point of engaging in moral cowardice, and things would not have happened the same way under another monarch, but how much can you despise someone for trying to be too nice to people because he wanted them to like him?

    Some of these dresses might be the choice of the couture house loaning/donating the dress. The jewelry is all from one house which is why we see the same pieces ‘modeled’ on different debs. Elie Saab was definitely my winning look before you announced yours. No woman can go wrong in an Elie Saab and his latest collection is as swoonworthy as last year's collection.
    Many of the girls did their gowns an injustice by not bothering with a hair style. An upswept French roll, even a barrette to keep the hair off of their faces and show off their necklines. Aware that loose hair is the trend, but it is a fashion-fail with formal gowns (even greyge gowns - what a hoot).

Second, if you're going to shamelessly flaunt your privilege in being able to possess and wear such a thing, have one of your many paid "people" STYLE IT CORRECTLY! There is no excuse for having it tip over backwards into your "messy bun." I would have expected much better from Blythe and Gwyneth. Tisk tisk.

Franco was a very nice dictator until his death and the Spanish government still has to spend money to demolish and clear his family stolen properties. 21:00 My issue with that era of Chanel, and this dress is a great example of it, is that it only works for one very specific body type, extremely thin, tall, and not curvy. I just think designers, if they want to grab my attention, should show they can design for a more inclusive range than that. I do think the dress really looks great on her though, she fits the aesthetic beautifully. So have no issue with the dress wearer, but am side eyeing the house.
