New US military bases in Philippines includes one that faces South China Sea

  • The Philippines has identified the four new military bases that it will be giving US troops access to. At least one of them will face the South China Sea, paving the way for a greater American presence in key locations in the region. Beijing has accused the US of fuelling tensions. It has warned other countries to be vigilant against being used by Washington. Manila has said the decision to allow a larger US military presence is vital to territorial defence, especially along the main Luzon island's eastern coast. The US and Philippines are expected to hold joint patrols and military drills in April.

The Philippines really went out of its way to please China but the latter just continued harrasing Filipino fishing and naval bases and expand territories within Phlippine territories.

The revitalization of a strong US military presence in the Philippines is the primary result of China's own aggressive and threatening actions in the SCS. A strategic miscalculation by XJP.
Without a strong and active US military presence in the Indo-Pacific, it'll be gameover for all countries in this region, including Japan, S. Korea and all of ASEAN combined. Statements made by China on US military actions in SCS do not resonate with the countries facing the SCS. Great move by the Filipino leader. Have tremendous respect for him.

The Philippines was never a threat to its neighbors. The Pilipino people are very warm and welcoming to anyone preferring always the path of peace, mutual respect, and friendship. But China forcibly took away islands that belong to the Philippines. In the face of such unabashed bullying and disrespect, the Philippines brought the case to the World Court in Hague which ruled on the Philippines favor. Not only did China wantonly violated Philippines sovereingty, it also violated and ignored the rule of law when it didn't abide by the court's ruling.
The Philippines need to strengthen itself militarily and this relationship with the United States is a first step in that direction. The Philippines has to take back from China what are historically and rightfully theirs. Those islands are at the doorsteps of the Philippines and over a thousand miles from China. All nations in South East Asia should support the Philippines in this struggle, or else they will be next. Much like Putin wants to swallow the whole of eastern Europe and started the war in Ukraine, China wants to take the whole of South East Asia and beyond and this dangerous adventurism in the West Philippines Sea is a clear indication of that.
More power to this renewed relationship between the Philippines and the United States of America.!

That’s a excellent idea for America and the Philippines to grow together in strength, bond, respect and trust. That is exactly what America wants more then anything. For our friends, family and Allies to strengthen and build up their nations and militaries into a military force with might and strength so they can protect themselves but also help each other and allies to help protect that part of the world from bullying and naked aggression. That’s the difference between America and China. China wants to take over your land, resources and sovereignty and America just wants strong Allies it can trade with and depend on to protect parts of the world. Say what you want about America and America being a Constitutional Republic but we are not lead by a single dictator making all the decisions bcuz of his own pride. We have institutions who dislike people’s rights being abused and do not allow Americans to do that. We will prosecute our own military and government if they step out of line. That being said yes America has made mistakes every country has no one is perfect. But what we need is Allies, friends and family who understand the situation in the world and who will not betray such friendships out of fear or persuasion. The Philippines have always been strong in body, Spirit and mind they are well balanced and very warm and welcoming to Americans and others who come in peace and friendship. There is nothing more wholesome and meaningful and beautiful then a friendship that in time becomes family. Look at Japan America and Japan were at odds with each other for a long time and then that went in to a terrible war that cost both sides and many other countries a lot of lives and livelihoods. But afterwards did america take over Japan? No we could’ve but we didn’t, we didn’t even remove their emperor he stayed in power. Because what we saw was a country who had spirit and heart and strength and we knew one day what that country could become, and it did become one of the bestest of Allies. All we did in the end was help each other to rebuild both our nations and help rebuild our friendship that turned into family after all that struggle, hate, fear and death caused by dictators, governments and world wide elites with an agenda. But in the end Something really beautiful came out of it and now Japan, Australia, America, Britain, England, etc. are all closer then ever we leave each others nations to govern themselves and they can build up their military and arsenal and train and grow as big as they want. But we also will die for the Japanese, Australians, British, English, and Taiwan and all of our allies. Because that what it means to have honor and be family there is lines in the sand between us but only for sovereignty it together we are stronger then we would ever be apart. Americans and Japanese and etc. are welcome in each others countries to travel live etc, we can go between borders and know that none of the real Japanese or American or Allies will not send someone to do something tragic to the others and if someone did it wouldn’t have come from the governments. We are Welcoming to each other as long as respect is paid towards each other there isn’t nothing that can’t be accomplished when you have Friendship and GOD leading the way. So to my Asian brothers and sisters plz don’t lose hope there is always hope and when you have friends and family and GOD you have everything you will ever need. May GOD bless you all and lots of love from an American brother in arms and peace.

South China SEA used to be peaceful and the US has been sailing through the region for decades without issues. Making port of calls with regional countries. The peace was disrupted when China started claiming the sea and building artificial island militarizing the area. Wonder why China keep saying US disrupted peace where they are actually the one disrupting it.

    • @ericyeo805
      @ericyeo805 ปีที่แล้ว

You mean there were war and are still going when the US didn't sail through the SCS? Check your record. US has never stopped sailing the SCS they also sail through the strait between China and Taiwan, which they recognise as China. And were there any wars, and if there was, how come the US did not intervene? FYI, there is no war for decades, and perhaps now we shall witness in not too far future. When that happens, too bad you are part of the target, and the costs are ver high, like what you have seen in Ukraine where people were the innocent victims. Pray that does not happen.

Why is China talking about the US containment of China? Is there a reason for China to be worried if it did not in fact do something that requires containment? Maybe China's aggressive posture and actual expansionist policy in the South China sea is the driver for the US latest move to forge renewed alliances in SE Asia and the Pacific.

But Taiwan could be, since US don't have military base in Taiwan. Same as Ukraine, no US military base in Ukraine, hence it called as proxy war.

Some EU nations had been calling on China recently to improve their relationship. Amongst Asean nations, Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia had also met with China recently to improve on their relations. Malaysia will be touching on the Spratly Islands issue with China soon but not the Philippines it prefer to seek the US to resolve the Spratly Islands issues with China by offering more US military bases to especially 5 US bases facing China. The Philippines preferred the US then Asean, as they have decided that it's best to come under the US. Philippines is almost viewed as another American State (another Star to be added to the US flag) The Philippines is worst then Myanmar at least Myanmar is still a member of Asean. The Japanese felt that the US has started to dictate term and condition that the Japanese Government must adhere to the US instruction that Japan cannot sell chip making equipment to China.😢😅😂 and had recently met up with China to clarify the chips issue.
    Latest news
9 military bases now and the US already moving military stuff over, looks like Marcos Jr had brought the country into deep trouble in just least than a year as President of the Philippines

Well said. The US serves its interests and no one else's. I'm not sure why the comments here are all happy to welcome the US bases. This is a provocative move towards China. When SHTF, the US will watch while the Philippines will fight their proxy war with China. Ukraine is fighting the proxy war of the US with Russia and the people of Ukraines are being decimated. The US said that it will fight Russia to the last Ukrainian, surely it will not have any problem fighting China to the last Filipino. It is really sad seeing the pro EDCA comments here. During the Marawi Seige, it was Russia and China that came to the aid if the Philippines. When the US did not do anything then, what makes people think that it gives a sh*t now? The only reason that the US is opening relations now is because they need the Philippines as a launching pad for war with China iver Taiwan. Most ASEAN countries are staying neutral because they know what is coming. May the almighty Creators protect the Philippines when the dying empire of Babylon (the US) makes its hegemonic move against China. Reading the comments heres, I can safely sad that majority of the Filipino masses are DUMB AF! Once again, the Philippines is on the wrong side of history.

Philippines is a sovereign country & decides what is best for the country. To say that the Philippines is inviting the hegemonic US Military presence into the country is a rhetorical assumption on your part. First off, the Philippines would probably take a different route if it were not for China's aggressive stance in the West Philippine Sea. The constant harassment of Filipino fishermen in their own sea territory is a constant threat to their livelihood & lives. The Philippine Government made several official protests against China's bullying tactics & occupying an islet that doesn't even belong to them.
So yes, the Philippines has had enough of diplomacy which China does not respect considering being a member of the United Nation body. It is high time China's moves are being watched by the US Navy & Military who will be stationed in the Philippines to contain their every move.
