I have a 2024 250 XC-W which is the same air box in this video. The manual states to put grease on the perimeter of the air box. In your video I don't see that? Maybe it's optional. I will take off my filter this weekend.
My manual instructs that the grease be applied to the base of the air filter itself, specifically on the centerline. Grease would certainly act as a barrier, but would also collect debris and create more cleanup. I did not see any grease from the factory, and I have not applied any thus far. Just applying filter oil and a skin at this point. It would be interesting to have more information from those who had engine damage. Such as if they followed the manuals instructions, if they were doing rapid mid race changes, if they are sloppy mechanics etc.
I understand what your saying but u don't even have a bead of grease on your ,that the fail safe on keeping dust out, after 25 years of racing I have never dusted a motor.
I agree with you. Install the filter as you said, maybe grease the base or oil it more than usual, and it will seal.
