The key difference between the Casio Duro and a Rolex Submariner is that you will actually dive with the Duro and use it as the sport-adventure watch that it is meant to be. The Duro will also keep more accurate time than any mechanical watch and require no/far less servicing. 200m water resistance with a screw down crown and excellent bezel action. You can’t beat it
for the price and it looks great.

The Duro is a great watch and an amazing value. I know casio won’t change a thing because why would they; they’ve sold 600,000 units. But if they dropped this to 40mm case with 20mm lugs. Be still my heart, it’d be perfect. I have two of them, and the lug to lug is great and it technically does fit, but I still find myself thinking they’re a bit too big still. Another great video Teddy! Well done!

The Duro to me is the perfect introductory watch for anybody considering a dive watch. There are homages with better specs out there but with the Duro you get the piece of mind and confidence purchasing from a reliable brand with history to back it up.

Got one about 5 years ago, immediately swapped out the OEM band for a NATO strap and it's been my go-to. Perfect fit for my 6.75" wrists. It's dived the Pacific, Atlantic, and Indian without a hiccup. Even a bit beaten up now, it still receives a fair share of compliments. Yes, and they are strap monsters too. I own all three major variants, and so does my son. Swapped the cheap resin straps and they are near perfect. At home I noticed that the second hand was a bit off...I soon realised that it was hitting the marks perfectly on the left half of the dial, but was off on the right half. Of course, when buying the watch I didn't stare at the second hand for a whole minute waiting for it to make a full circle, so I missed that detail.

My first watch that got me into the hobby . It amazes me how much quality goes into every Casio watch, from the f91, to the Duro, to various G-shocks and Edifice chronographs. I'm wearing mine right now on a 22mm NATO and it's an elegant daily. I plan to upgrade it to a double dome sapphire, but it is a watch that works so well as a daily and for the price- is unbeatable.
(My second watch was a solar GWM5610 Gshock, and third was an Orient Kamasu.) Casio and Orient definitely make such amazing watches for the price bracket.

I have the blue Duro and I'm telling you... that blue Duro on a good leather strap is as good looking as some of the $2K watches that are popular. Really, look at the macro shots; many $2K watches can't stand up to that scrutiny and look as good as the Duro. Places for improvement... Teddy is spot on in pointing out the lackluster lume and yes, we would all love to see a 41 or 40 mm version.

I have had mine for 6 years. I only take it off to clean it and change the band. I get eyeballs on it all the time and complimented on it frequently. It is a perfect size and fit. I travel around the world and buying mechanical watch is impracticable for me. I got a new battery and crystal for $7.00 on the street in South East Asia. I never wanted something I couldn't replace if things went sideways on the street. Don't change a thing CASIO. I am exceptionally pleased with my ownership.

I own 3. I love them. The beater aspect makes them unbeatable. I wear them to work. I wear them in the pool. I wear them to play tennis. I wear them on the lake. And I do these things proudly and without worry. They look amazing, and because of the case finishing, people mistake them for a Rolex all the time. I do put aftermarket straps and bracelets on them. It’s fun to change it up. Could not be happier with my Duro collection.

Recently got into watches (properly) and desperately wanted something that looked great, would get me used to the size of anything more than a 91W, function really well, be durable and allow me to bide my time (and save) for another starter/low-mid tier. I love my Duros. I have one in each colourway and have changed the straps. The black is on a tan, leather strap. The blue is on a Jubilee, dive style bracelet, and the black-gilt is on a beads of rice. There are sapphire crystals available, as well as alternative hand sets and bezel inserts. They're a fun, easy to own and modify watch. Mine are worn when on my moto, mowing the lawn, and working on the car. Cheap, reliable and tough enough for a daily beater. Brilliant watches.

  • @glen193

I've several Dive watches: a Seiko Turtle, a Citizen Pro-Master, an Amphibia, G-Shock, etc...and, a recently purchased a Casio Duro for a beater/Work grab and go watch.
For years, I disregarded the Duro in spite of the large following and positive reviews. I admit I just felt it had to be over-exagerated and there was no possible way a $50 Casio Duro could be a good watch...afterall, I was burned on an Invicta pro diver (was dead within 3 months) when I first got into this infectious hobby so I thought "no way can this Duro" be good.
I was wrong. I gave in and finally purchased one. It has been a very good watch. It's actually good looking, very reliable, easy to read, and fits my 7.25" wrist well. Admittedly, the rubber strap sucks (IMO). And, true, the lume is quite lame and the finishing is certainly not up to luxury watch levels. It's pretty utilitarian in most every aspect, but I've been very happy with it. I replaced it with a good leather strap and Wow! What a transformation!
In any event, I'm definitly recommending this $50 dive watch-especially for those on a very limited budget, and for those who don't want to beat up their more expensive divers. In retrospect, this is the best $50 in hourology I've ever spent. Just goes to show how one's preconceptions can be wrong...

Finally, Teddy! :) For some reason, Duro is on my wrist for years, despite having some Seikos and Orients. Somehow, I always go back to this one. Cracked the glass this summer and replaced it with sapphire crystal - now I love it even more, as it had some scratches before. My piece saw some diving, spending time on the beach, site works, and is still going strong! Also, I've been checking accuracy using smartphone app, and it's remarkable, unlike any other watch I have - this one runs on avarage ... +0.0s/d. Yeap, after over a year, it's off about 3 seconds. Unbeliveble! I've tried many straps and always go back to original. One thing that is totally not e.g. Seiko or Orient level, is as you've mentioned, lume. It's rather mediocre. Personally, I would love it to be around 41-42 mm case size, too.
Other than all that, this watch kinda ruined watch collecting for me - 80% of the time I'm rocking the Duro. Just love this watch.
P.S. Give a try to EFV-100, too. Especially in white. Similarily impressive value. Cheers and keep up the good work with your channel!

EFV-100D is an amazing watch for the money, indeed. I have the black and white versions and can't decide which one I like more. Wear mine on french parachute straps and they look and wear quite good. 100m WR, screwdown crown and back, nice finishing. Lume is basically nonexistent, but I don't care.
Thinking about getting a Duro as my first dive watch, although I am not a diver. I'm mostly interested in field watches.

I own the black faced Duro and it's unbeatable for it's value. The clean design and legibility is second to none. Being a tad big also helps. The sun burst dial oozes charm when it catches the sunlight at the right angles. For $60, nothing comes close. This piece is in the same league as the original Casio 5600 G-Shock. A keeper for a true watch enthusiast, at a very affordable price point.

When the gold and blue versions came out, I bought those as well, and they're also great watches! When I use other more expensive divers, I'm always worried I'll damage them in some way, but when I use my Duros I feel I'm wearing G-Shocks 😂 They've got scuffs, sure, but they're reliable. For people who want all the functionality of a digital watch (Alarm, Chrono, Second time zone, Day, Date and a Countdown timer too!) but hate the looks of a digital piece and want an analog watch that can do everything, the lineage collection is awesome!

I have one. I am not a dive watch afficiado. aI do kind of collect Casios though that were never my intention, it just kind of happened. I finally about a year or so ago got around to the Duro. When mine arrived from Amazon I was just blown away. I mean to me a regular guy it was a frigging Rolex. I mean I was super impressed with the quality and pictures just never did the thing justice. it really is just a stunning watch to me. I call it my Casio Submariner. I think your review was spot on and your a guy who knows about the relevance of different brands and price points much better than me. It is all the diver I will ever need as the closest thing to diving I will get is a dive into a seedy bar.

I have a duro that is at least 4 years old and has gone on several scuba dives with me, one was down to 108 feet. I also use it during free diving which is really hard on watches because you are going deep (60-70 feet for me) then right back to the surface over and over. It's easily one of my favorite watches.

I've had one for a while now and love it. If I don't want to risk a more expensive watch when I go out to play, I put this on knowing I don't have to worry. I've had numerous enquires from friends about it due to its looks too.

I have both the black & the blue Duro. I don't mind the original straps because they're authentic dive straps on an authentic dive watch, but because I don't dive I changed them for nicer, softer, stretchier silicones and am perfectly happy with the outcome. I keep thinking about swapping the bezels over so that the black will have a hit of blue and the blue will have a hit of black but I'm not confident I won't scratch up the cases doing it, so I leave things as they are and love them.

I have these two Duros. The second hands hit the markers. Actually I like the fact that Casio puts on a two bob strap. It means your money has gone into the watch, rather than the strap. I have plonked on a couple of nylon straps - a Bond strap for the black version, and a blue and white strap for the blue version. I have a GS and a Presage but still wear these often.

I dove into buying one when I heard a couple positive reviews for a diver-beater watch and then I saw that they had a Batman coloration; I AM IN. Fully intended to be my daily work watch (carpentry) but I can’t believe how pretty it is and how much I love the dang thing so bought the blue version when I saw it Walmart for $40 and I can say for sure that my more expensive watches are getting jealous of the time that these Duro’s spend on my wrist.

Hi Teddy, I don't often comment I just enjoy the videos but, had to this time. 1st congrats on your engagement to Courtney wishing you both the best on your next Journey. As I watched this video the funny thing is... I bought my 1st duro on my birthday 9 years ago today. I shocked to see you doing the video on my birthday (or released on my birthday). A great watch and because I am a Casio fanboy nice to see the Duro is still a popular watch especially for the price. I bought my 2nd last year the so called "Batman" look alike to the Rolex GMT we know.. it's not of course but, for some of us who are not quite there it feels good and for the value I am very happy with them both. Thanks again for the videos and congrats once again. All the best.

I own both a Duro and an Amphibia. The Duro is hands down the better option. I have the blue dial and absolutely love it. My one complaint, which Teddy touched on, is the second hand doesn't hit every marker. Mine hits the mark on the left half of the dial (6-12) but misses on the right side (12-6). Still, perfect option for the pool, the beach, kayaking, etc.

Thank you for this Duro appreciation haha.
I recently got back into watches - just got tired of wearing a smart watch all the time.
My old G-Shock was the only thing functioning out of my collection. First watch I bought was the blue duro and I got the black one for Christmas. I replaced the band with a nato strap before even putting it on haha. A green kanno on a gray and black nato is my next watch.
I don't know if you can tell, but I kinda have a type haha (dive/nato).

I got mine second hand guess it's around at least for 5 years on different wrists, the price was the key point for me and it never let me down. You will most likely scratch it some day but you will not regret it, it´s still working fine, it will not break and will tell you the time and date as accurate as you need...for years! When you have the chance to get one - GET ONE!

I own a black Duro since September, and it’s a great watch! It’s actually my daily watch ‘cause it’s so good. For the price, the quality is great: accurate, precise, 200 m of water resistance, a screw down crown, and it looks like a Rolex! Put a nato strap and it will wear like a Omega seamaster ⏱ Greetings from France 🇫🇷. Love your channel by the way 👍🏻

It's fantastic seeing reviews for very much affordable watches! Not everyone can or wants to spend thousands of dollars on top end watches and not everyone is after an automatic. Quartz watches are cheaper to make and upkeep, while also avoiding any issues around accuracy or magnetism or whatnot.
I've got a few nicer watches like GS, Tudor and Oris, but I've also got the Marlin in blue :D

  • @iainmantle1373

I bought one of these watches about a year ago and I absolutely love it, ok it's not a Tudor, or Rolex but I think the finishing on it is fantastic for the money, I did however change the strap for a better quality one which has made it look an even more expensive watch.
I have friends who I admit are not watch fanatics, but when I asked how much they thought it cost? And I got a price range from £150 - £350 I would say that tells you how good it is.

Unfortunately they are not available in Europe. My black/gold version had to be imported from Las Vegas via ebay which raised the total price incl. taxes to nearly 72 Euro.
Still love it. It is my daily driver. Working, swimming, cooking etc. I wanted to replace the strap at the beginning, did not immediately find one that I liked and therefore kept the Original. And now I am used to it. It is durable and I have no issues with the fit or my skin. I don't produce a lot of sweat as with a leather strap and it wears very well.
