    This is wonderful Lisa ❤Thankyou so much for sharing. Do you use the powdered pigment layers in final stages or do you continue to work over them? Can you? And if you continue to work over them, do you fix them first with the fixative? And does this fixative work to fix/seal the whole painting? Sorry for all the questions - just want to be sure of what I’m doing 🙄

    • @LisaBBoardwine
      @LisaBBoardwine  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tricia, thanks for watching my TH-cam channel! I do use the powdered pigment all through the painting process, however if you work over it it will blend into the paint and you usually have to reapply. You can fix them if you want to retain an area. I block out the area with the powdered pigment so as to not seal the entire painting if I am still continuing to add layers. Such a fun medium! Thank you for this....I have been using cold wax for a while now and I have been wondering if dry pigments would mix with it. Can't wait to give it a go🎨

      Karen, yes! The dry or powdered pigments work great with oil/cold wax! Give it a try and have fun!!😁🎨

    Thanks for your videos. I have a question. You may have said this early in the video but I turned the volume down because the music was distracting. Everything I’ve read has said that powdered pigments are dangerous to inhale. Do you wear a respirator or N95 mask while working with them? Thanks

    • @LisaBBoardwine
      @LisaBBoardwine  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Susan, thanks for watching my TH-cam channel! Powdered pigments. Or any dust type of product can potentially be dangerous if inhaled.Check with the manufacturer of the powdered pigments you use and get their recommendations on how to protect yourself against any possible health issues.

    How do you finish your pieces? Do you just polish or buff them?and if so, with what?

    • @LisaBBoardwine
      @LisaBBoardwine  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Susan, I really like the matte finish that comes with adding the cold wax to your oil paints- so I usually don’t cover them with a final varnish. It isn’t really needed unless you want a sheen or a shine. On an occasion I might use clear cold wax to seal, or sometimes the matte GamVar.

      Ann Marie, I used an Ultramarine Blue by Gamblin, Gold by Pearl Ex, and I think a burnt sienna from Daniel Smith. Thanks so much for watching!!

    I wondered.. could I mix cold wax with metallic mica powder and use for gilding? Would it buff up to shine? And would it rub off if used on jewellery or pueces that would be handled like small sculptural pieces made from clay? Your work and tutorials are brilliant xx

    • @LisaBBoardwine
      @LisaBBoardwine  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lesley, thank you for watching my TH-cam channel!! You can mix it with mica powder and powdered pigments not sure if you could use it in jewelry pieces. That is something I have not tried so I am not sure how it would be. You can buff the cold wax to a sheen on a painting once it is completely dry! Hope this helps!!xo

    • @lesleysholes
      @lesleysholes 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LisaBBoardwine that,s brilliant. Thank you. Some of the gilding waxes are so expensive. I have a lot of lovely mica powders already, and use cold wax on my paintings, but wondered about gilding my clay sculptures, and maybe some jewellery pieces. I.ll try. Thank you sooo much. Hugs from Scotland xx
