Just a marketing trick by the luthiers and guitar techs. Nowadays everybody can find how to change strings on YT. Now they are just thinking of ways so people keep on bringing in their guitars.

Love the realization the mounting plates are included! I actually wish Graph Tech DID NOT include them because they do have matching plates available for purchase. It's a bit less offensive with the chrome, but gold tuners really look bad with those stamped "galvanized" plates. Drop the included plates and lower the price 10 dollars / pounds / quid / etc... or allow the grab-bag to be swapped for a single set of matched plates. Cheers!

Can you recommend a good guitar hardware shop in Europe? I'm currently planning a 7-string fanned fret guitar and finding the proper hardware has been unexpectedly difficult. It seems I would have to order most of the parts directly from the manufacturer, which can occur some quite hefty shipping costs. Shipping for Hipshot single string bridges and tuners to Germany, for example, is $50 US. Same goes for EMG pickups etc. etc. etc.
So, it would obviously be really helpful to have a shop in Europe that has a good selection of hardware, including stuff needed for 7 strings and fanned fret instruments... which is where most shops I've found so far either fail completely or have just _one_ part in _one_ color.

@@CrimsonCustomGuitars Thanks for the reply, even though you can't really help me right now. :) Good to know I'm not just blind and / or stupid.
So far, it seems I can actually get 7 individuals Hipshot tuners from Warwick Germany, bridges from ABM in Germany and, if I can compromise a bit on the pickups, I can get similar EMG pickups to the ones I actually want from several guitar stores... or I just pay the shipping for the pickups.
Do you have any recommendations on single-string bridges? Currently I just found two (ABM and Hipshot). Are there others you know of that you'd prefer? Same goes for tuners, obviously. Any preferences there?

Should have used the staggered version. Would have eliminated the string trees. 🎶🎸

Thanks for watching! B

Hmm. Those tuners... no advantage when installing a string... still got to wind it up to pitch. Tuning, once there, still no advantage, unless a string goes wildly out of tune. The one thing that does make me think i'd like to try them, is when you're in tune, and you want to RETUNE to say DAGDAD, etc. Then the rotation required to move the pitch by a set amount per unit rotation does make sense. Means if you're dextrous enough, you can drop tune a string(s) much more accurately than with any other current design.

Ok just to the point where Ben plugs the holes. So...... Guessing he has never opened the box and read the directions and seen the plates that fit his prior holes.
Shaking my head waiting for Ben's reaction when he discovers this and also a reason why ratio tuners are a great replacement tuner. They fit everything no drill.

Sigh. You also got the wrong tuners. You got 6 in line all same height. They make ones for telecaster style the get lower from 6 to 1. Ben, Ben, Ben. So disappointed in you.
BTW those 2 little nubs you drilled. Designed to fit the tuners from Ibanez, jackson, esp. basically what comes from the big japanese factory. You don't need the plates for those guitars. Just a FYi.

Is it just me or are those tuner posts miles too tall? I saw hardly any break angle at the nut.

IS IT JUST ME OR ARE THE TUNERS A BIT HIGH, LEAVING NOT MUCH BREAK ANGLE ON THE E AND A STRINGS ?
