Cheers dude, they don't always work out and certainly are not always classically attractive but they are fun to do.. if we all kept within the rules nothing fun would ever happen imo. Thanks for watching! The next video in this series will be up on Saturday morning! B
The best drug in the world is making saw dust and seeing the results of hard work. It would be amazing Ben if you could come to the US and do one of your workshops here.
All that remains is for Ben to carry a torch in the next workshop, and toast some wood. Awesome work. I always watch your videos, and they never cease to amaze me. Thanks for teaching so much.
Hey David, can't wait to have you.. I have the opposite problem, every week I get an idea from a student that I want to incorporate into one of my own builds! B
That oil finish is always satisfiying to watch, and the body curve looks really comfortable, a “simple” build like this can really be super cool. And it’s a idea giver for everyone that wants to build a kit but is afraid of making mods like this. I almost regret not having carved the body curves in my first kit guitar because playing it while sitting down almost hurts. But the neck finished with crimson oil is perfect. Always love to see your work !
I see you as the guy who is passionate and quite skilled at what he does, along with what I’ve seen from everyone from crimson guitars. I’d say your a master of your craft honestly... I feel like I’ve grown into a crimson fanboy over the last few months. Lol
Thank you to have made my night, I still feel like I have so much to learn but, well, that is the fun bit isnt it? Seeing what you can do and where the challenges take you.. big oak, resin river and gold leaf is my current project and I'm loving it! B
Crimson Custom Guitars cool beans, haha. And yeah I agree with you, when I come up with an idea that I’m not sure I can do but somehow tie it together through various breakthroughs. It really is fun, and ima have to try a resin build someday so ima have to watch that.
Love the spontaneity of it all..............I found my old 1987 Pacifica stuffed away in the corner a couple of days ago. It has a horrible thick black poly finish. So thinking.............burn the bugger a little...............and then red stain. Now problem is how do I remove the poly finish ? Most folk seem to remove it with a hot air gun. Is that the best way...........or would I be better off stripping it and if so.............with what ? I have already sourced a dark black pearl pick guard.................and trem cover, also have new pickups, nut and machine heads.
You know the way you cut the back plates for the electronics (which even my 22 year old daughter thinks is cool 😮), well, how about doing something like that for the front of a guitar? And also, a build incorporating some/all of the tools Crimson manufactures ie. metal ruler as the racing stripe, protractor (is that the half circle thingy?) the electronics cover/pick guard, fret rocker bolt on plate (advertising purposes, of course). Ps. Like the way you said (about the complication) " Yes, it's completely playable", and thought "But I'm not gonna let you play it".
Hey Glenn, good ideas.. I have considered a multi-level on multi piece top like that, there are other builders who do it and I dont want to seem too cheeky ;) Tell your daughter she has impeccable taste and I approve! Ta. B
@@CrimsonCustomGuitars I'm sure one of the members of staff are to blame, sneaking in a blunt chisel. No way you would place such a thing in your kit ;)
That would be cool, I've always thought riveted panels or similar could be awesome in a guitar, it is the lack of symmetry that messes with me when I get into it.. B
Yo Ben,when are you going to build a exotic wood style Steinberger "Cricket Bat" style guitar? I'd love one myself so let me know if you fancy doing one!!!!!!!?
You could stain it green & get a forstner bit & drill a hole behind the bridge about 2" above the rear of the back of the control plate, then you'll have a tribute to the Francis Rossi retired Telecaster!!! Or you could paint it white & beat the knackers out of it & then it's a tribute to the late Rick Parfitt!!!!!!!!

Hey Anton, I have big plans for one of the SRP kits crimsonguitars.com/store/kit-guitar-the-srp/ I think it will be taking a kit guitar and making it star wars, it maybe steam punk.. do you have a preference? B
Many moons ago, at a conference for senior employees of a large consultancy firm, the fire-alarm sounded at around four o'clock in the morning. It was interesting to see who came out of whose rooms! 😳
How did you decide what to put into this video from the three days of the show? You could have just shown yourself using the bradawl and I would still watch every second.
Hey Lee, we want to have 15 or 20 minutes in the end and be entertaining but most importantly educational.. at the moment the video is rough edited then 3 if us sit down and watch it making changes and suggestions then go fir another round before adding music and publishing.. anything you would add or change about the channel? Hey there Crimson Guitars Team, I was wondering if you could do a video on fretboard oils. For years I've simply been using cold pressed linseed oil from the super market. Do you have any opinion on that? Is there anything I need to consider? Sadly, the internet is filled with all kinds of diffent opinions on this topic and it's really hard to find any consesus. Some clarification on your part would be much appreciated. Anyway, thx for all the great content and even sharing your knowledge for free here on TH-cam!!! Keep up the awesome work and greatings from Germany.
Cold pressed linseed oil works ok, it is not as thin or penetrating as our oil blend but is better than the almost wholly toxic lemon oil many other people use.. check out crimsonguitars.com/store/fretboard-cleaner-restorative/ B
Dammit, should I order the kit, the oil, the stains all the necessary stuff and have fun now, or keep the money for the 6 day course first sooon. Can't have both at the same time ;P the more I watch the more I want to have fun now! Ben, amazing what you can do with these kits! P.S. Just located a sawmill with a beautiful guitar wood in stock. The body shape is out of trademark and legally Fender cant do anything and our headstock differs enough that we are safe, hopefully. We are also very small fry and I don't think they would care about us irl. Thanks for your support! B
@Ben in my book you're known as guy that does AWESOME guitars. Is that exosceleton guitar crazy? No it's not, it's awesome. I'd own that and be proud of it if I could afford it.
