      The way you are describing dim mak aka dim Shue aka death touch is not accurate. The way you described dim mak is wrong and anyone who thinks it's touching someone will knock them out are wrong. Anyone who clam mastery of dim mak and is doing this made up knock out stuff are not masters of the art. Dim mak has everything to do with pin point striking into very specific, mostly soft tissue areas if we are talking about the destruction part of Dim Mak. This means sealing blood vessels or striking muscles and tendons to completely disable what you want on a person. If anyone has been hit in the arm and noticed your muscle expand then contract then you have experience muscle manipulation. Now take that same power and apply it to the left or right external jugular vain with a dragon knuckle, add waist whip to add more force and now your entering the dim mak tier. And for people being people and not knowing what they are talking about, The things you learn in Dim Mak can also be used for healing. So it's not all about destruction. Learn how to heal first.

    When you are in a fight there are some spots you can hit. For example I remember when we were kids, there is a nerve in your elbow, if you hit that correctly your hand goes numb for a few seconds. Pressure points like that exist, but you still need some other martial art base to apply that in a real fight.

    I actually appreciated the intelligent lesson. Individual human ability often leaves people astounded. Individual is a micro demonstration, or a quantum level that defies understanding. Teaching people moves that require almost impossible precision through mass media is impossible, especially when the average person watching these videos feels slightly insulted and think TH-cam videos might give them some advantage in some imaginary situation. Muggers happen, I'm glad people focuson that. 👍

    Dim mak is a specialized skill. Finding a qualified teacher is difficult; but offers a medically deeper understanding and options in a fighting situation. The more options a fighter has then the more chance of success. So usually associated with seasoned, skillful practitioners who have a strong foundation in defend and attack; allowing them the skill to breaching an opponents defence in order to apply the techniques. Usually done at medium, close range, sometime when wrestling, a short sharp strike can make all the difference! For most people, it's an area of expertise unnecessary for basic self-defence.

    its called commotio cordis it it also called cardiac concussion which can lead to ventricular fibrillation and ultimately death. It happens when you hit someone in the chest during a moment of cardiac polarisation a moment where mechanical force can be converted to electrical signals which can alter the rhythm of the heart.

    Dim mak is not just the "death touch." from my understanding, its the methods of manipulating blood flow in the body. Pressure points utilized by serious practitioners in many styles are found in the methods of dim mak. Not all are difficult to train on, given you are skilled at the basics of movement and basic principles of combative science. I would argue these are very useful and worth looking into for the serious practitioner. You never know what part of the body your attacker may leave open and afford you the opportunity to change the power relationship. knowing some of these methods, and also those of stopping air flow to the lungs, could mean the difference between life and death..of course, for the average person who doesn't take training very seriously, i agree its a waste of time. start with the basics and then move on..Namaste

    • @DarkLordShadaou

      +True WingChun I suppose it just doesn't seem practical for combat but perhaps in combination with trapping. I'm skeptical of it.

    • @daboodeef179
      @daboodeef179 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +True WingChun Also they call it Dim Mak but that is not really what it is called traditionally. Traditionally it is called Dian Xue (think that is how you spell it) according to my Taiji teacher. I have seen practitioners accidentally do it against Muay Thai fighters. I have felt strikes where a person accidentally discharges energy into me (wasn't bad, it dispersed quickly). But when you feel it you truely realize the difference between muscle power and the penetrating power that comes from Qi. Dian Xue is no joke and can be dangerous if the person does not know what he is doing and also does not know how to reverse the affects. It can be very effective, but the person needs to know what he is doing and have the proper conditioning and internal energy to be able to do it. Kung Fu (Gong Fu) means skill/force achieved through hard work. It is something that many strive for, but very few achieve and actually understand. Also, why do it? It's cool information but I would never do it in a fight. Why use our energy to hurt people when we can use it to HEAL.

    • @Zeonlist
      @Zeonlist 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +True WingChun Dim Mak actually is cantonese and Dian Xue is mandarin. It just different area has different name for this technique.
      People thought u suppose to just hit the pressure point but the truth is it very complicated. U have to learn the time for blood flow then u can only execute it perfectly by hitting the exact spot. Different pressure point may cause different effects.
      Interestingly, it wont be like the martial art movies where people will stun, it may cause u to temporarily lose strength for some part of your body, damage or even death(which most of the point is on your back). And some damage may cause death after few days or weeks if not treated well with herbs and medicine.. I read the book given by my 70 something dad so current technology should be able to heal it as well.
      In other word, don't learn it if you have short temper, u may actually cause some trouble for yourself.

    According to Bubishi (Wu bei zhi), dim mak is nothing more than striking an artery on a nerve cluster. Although that can be really dangerous it is really hard to apply, mainly because real fights are very hectic and chaotic. Some vital points are actualy easy to hit, eg. the biceps or inner side of the elbow, but again, I speak only from my own experience.

Im 58 yrs old and even though i dont have the strenght i did in my twenties i still remember all that the man taught me. A young man didnt know i knew any martial arts and at work when i was 51 he walkex up behind me and got me in a tight bear hug. I admit this young guy was extreemily strong. The Dim Mak is real, When hitting the sternum with the side of you're balled fist it delivers an extreme amount of force that stops a humans heart instantly. I watched another video, and they attached sensors to a dummy, and the Dim Mak was used on it, and this Ninjitsu master delivered more force in one attack than a grown man with a full swing of a baseball bat.

    There are some spots that can kill a person in one hit. But you'd need the right situation, and the right strength. Four fingers straight, used to stab and almost pierce type movement, if you struck someone's solar plexus it could kill someone. Or under the armpit the artery there, or the throat, could kill someone easily in one hit.
    Of course, you could kill someone with one punch to the forehead if you're strong enough. So perhaps it is silly to talk about this. Little David, a young man and really almost a child, killed Goliath with a sling and one smooth stone in his sling. Kind of a tortoise and the hare type situation.

      The thing is, dim mak is based in Chinese meridian anatomy like acupuncture. So it is considered science based in the East.

      +CecilRyuTaekwondo Yup. I've seen old Chinese masters who do this type of stuff. However, they do have very strong fingers through years of practice, and are able to generate enough power to strike deep enough into the meridians; the "light touches" that we see in movies most likely don't work. I think these are basic prerequisites. There's nothing magical to it.

    Mr.Wong with a strike to the corroded artery you can stop blood flow to the brain for a long enough time for your opponent to loose consciousness that I've seen last up to 5 minutes. Never seen it being effective to use a finger but it would be possible to use a thumb to sever the artery entirely without fully piercing the skin. But traditionally and most effectively is to use a knife hand or ridge hand chop.

    The real question is what would be the context and real world application of a 'death touch' that required even 3 moves to execute when you can kick and dislocate a knee, jab and take out an eye, spear hand to the larynx any of which would disable an opponent where they couldn't effectively fight back any further? None of those moves require a specific combination only a set up opening to accomplish. Sometimes the simplest answer is the answer.

    I studied martial arts in the forms of Chung Do Kwon, Tang Soo Do, Hapkido, and Karate for 7 years and I achieved a second dan black belt. I have performed demonstrations in front of thousands of people while breaking eight cement blocks at my peak, eight 1" thick boards with my elbows, and eight 1" thick boards with a spinning back kick. The Dim Mak that was performed in Bloodsport is impossible. However, a punch to the solar plex (or solar plexus) is enough to incapacitate anyone while you de-escalate a situation...or take on the next guy in line. I have fought many times and I have always done my best to avoid the fight in the first place. Out of all of my many teachings, one thing that I have learned is that it is better to attempt to avoid a fight, than to fight at all. Martial arts is for self defense purposes only, not so you can go out and pick fights.

    As a black belt in a martial art that has pressure points for kill strikes and paralysis, I do have to tell you that it is possible. However, I do believe everybody should take Master Wong's advice here. All the points he made are correct. Not to completely discount these point strikes though because there is one reason these exist. They are for old master martial artists, as my master always says, "I am getting too old to sit there and duke it out with an 18-year-old, because even if I win, I am hurting after. Instead, all I want to do is poke you once, and that's the end of the fight."

  • @Mithril170818
    @Mithril170818 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is performed in secret special ops divisions of military. It is not performed in normal training of martial arts. If they are good at this, they only need to touch you once. Then they are free to finish you off. I’ve had a friend who told me he was on the receiving end. You are paralyzed for a time. Apparently they have to touch you again to revive you...

  • @harryhui2214

    There are many silky questions here. Wong Sifu is telling us to attain true discipline in martial arts, self defence, without fantasising about things like Dim Man or Nei Gong--which in themselves take a lifetime to achieve. The strength in the fingers needed to do those strikes is unbelievable. I doubt any average human has attained that kind of strength.

    In some books they describe Dim Mak as a single punch a "delayed death touch". It does not kill or stun immediately but rather at a particular time depending on which organ was targeted. The ability to perform it is supposedly passed down orally from a handful of masters to their students.
    Isn't the poking around of meridians more similar to the 5 finger death touch/steps or something like that shown in the Kill Bill movie?

And your age . Thanks

    Our Wing Chun school is having a seminar from my Sifu's Sifu (SiGung) and at first it seemed like it would be "normal". But now he has stated that he is bringing some Dim Mak DVDs to be sold at the seminar. I didn't even know what Dim Mak is. After watching your video, I come to realize that I actually did see it used once in Kill Bill. The Five Point Palm Exploding Heart Technique. Both him and my Sifu sometimes mention the selling of some goo that you can smear on your body that will help healing injuries and soreness from any type of physical training. It is always something with these Chinese based martial arts. A Hung Ga Sifu wrote on his website that he once tiger clawed his way up the side of a building during a fire to save a child and that is why we should join his kung fu school. I am simply ignoring all of that stuff and learning the Wing Chun that I know is real.

    Real dim mak isn't so much pressure points combinations as calculated strikes to viens and nerve clusters that cause internal dmg/bleeding that kills the person days later. Very hard to do and precsion/finger strength is paramount.

    Dim Mak is not what you think Mr Wong. The thrusting motion with the index finger you are using isnt always the strike to attack a point. For example open palm rubbing upward the arm and then down is the warmer, afterwards there is another strike which is the index finger and bam... you just shut down someone's heart. Hey Mr Wong look up Erle Montaigue gor more in Dim Mak. Peace

    Hey Master Wong,
    Great explaination and great video as always but isn`t the Dim Mak translated into "death touch" ?
    So for me that means Dim Mak is the strike itself and not the targets you`re aiming for.
    And a lethal strike can be anywher on the torso, neck or head as long as it is hard enough...
    like if you hit somebody wiht a baseballbat in the head it is Dim Mak isn`t it?
    As said erlier i like your stuff and i would like to hear your honest opinion on that
    Thank you a lot for your work
