Gear comments aside, I agree with what you're saying. People should ride within their limits. It's ok to be slow and a new rider. As long as you make it home.
If you want a free rec for a jacket, I really like Scorpion Exo's mesh jackets. It was still hot but it worked for this summer in TX.

I remember gearing up then driving to work then having to undress in restroom put my work uniform on everytime etc 😂 because i wanted to be responsible. Be safe out there
