you can make a simple Tone control Knob with an EQ and a Macro :) just map one high and one low band of an EQ in an inverted proportional manner to the macro knob, hope this helps :)
The groove pool automation is such a brilliant idea! Have started using similar techniques for HH's by grouping audio effects - freq mod, utility, sat etc - and mapping various parameters. Instead of using the MFL LFO I use the 'Randomizer' for automation. However, I could never think of how to randomise timing without creating phase issues! Great tutorial :)
If you don't mind me asking, how did you get it to map to the groove pool. This tutorial kind of skips that part. I got the LFO to map to everything else minus that.
Hi. If I’ve understood correctly, at 2:24 in the video the guy hovers over the Global Groove Amount parameter. This is the same parameter I click when mapping to the Max for Live LFO. Hopefully that works for you.
what about using audio, as i mostly drag and drop samples in arrgmnt view. could the lfo still be used and what would you map it to. i normally do a 1 bar loop and change the vol on 2 and 4 hats to give a humanised feel
Max devices definitely can get CPU heavy but the LFOs are surprisingly lean. Depends on your system of course, but dropping a few in a project shouldn't eat up more CPU than other devices.
Hi nothinghammchannel. You can use the Max LFO device on nearly everything within Sampler. Does that answer your question? What are you trying to achieve?
Thanks for replying me. Actually I have not asked the whole question...Would like to try the same effect as it is shown in this video (humanizing drums), but with Sampler. So let say how I can do this HiHats? Thanks!
+nothinghammchannel using a drum synth (like Max For Live's drum synth device used in the tutorial) is easiest because the parameters are designed for drums. It's possible in samples too - if you know Sampler well then assign the Max For Live LFO to the volume velocity controls, the pitch controls and volume decay (but first drop its volume sustain all the way down)
Hi. Glad you enjoyed it! DrumSynth let’s you synthesise drums but is not a sampler, so you can’t upload your own samples to it. If that’s what you want then try Simpler

Click on the 'Map' button in each instance of the LFO device to select what parameter you want it to control, and rename the device to help you keep them straight. It sounds great.
Anyone know how to replicate this in another daw? Do i have to get some kind of drum synth or do i just need an lfo tool?.... I know i can do it with automation but this is so much faster

In the tutorial the Drum Synth High Hat comes after the LFO's in the chain. When I try dropping the LFOs in front of the HH Synth I get an error message from Ableton stating that you can only insert audio effects AFTER the instrument. How did you manage to get the LFO's in front of the Instrument?
Hey, thanx for the reply. I'm familiar with the LFO and i've tried with 100% depth and a fairly slow rate to really hear the difference. The problem seems to be something else. The global swing get's greyed out once i map the LFO to it. It's moving but is not changing the swing at all. I tried mapping to the Tempo and it's the same problem. It's moving but also greyed out and is not changing the tempo.
Couple more things that could be overriding the LFO -- make sure your project isn't synced to an external MIDI clock, make sure there are no clips set as the master tempo, try some different groove divisions to make sure the groove settings will have an effect on your MIDI sequence, and also try starting with a fresh Live set. There are quite a few variables so it could be hard to diagnose from here, but if you're around Sydney you're always welcome to drop by!

Then you can add a bit of groove with claw machine in piano roll. Won't give you the same effect but play around and you can get some semi-realistic stuff
