Cornette was right, it's a Fool's miracle that Grimes wasn't at the very least paralyzed. He was mere inches away from death & escapes serious permanent damage. I don't know if Grimes believed in God before this match or not but if he didn't he sure as fuck does now.
XPW was owned and run by a fucking bombed out porn producer who later hired hitmen to try and kill one of the wrestlers he suspected of sleeping with his wife. NGL, I liked XPW but good decisions was not something they're synonymous with.
No, New Jack almost cost New jack his career. Vic was uncomfortable about a spot. Instead of telling him you got this, he grabs vic and drags him off the scaffold. The 20ft scaffold. And they both land badly because neither one has any control. Vic didn't have any control of the jump. And New Jack, by trying to force the jump, lost the ability to hit his spot. That was New Jack, probably high, being unprofessional, and hurt himself.
I remember watching an ECW special years ago (early 2000s). New Jack tried to get him to land on the ring post and impale himself. For whatever reason Paul had the ring moved several feet, if not he would have landed on the ring post. New Jack was mad and cursing up a storm because he had rehearsed it differently.
Apparently, they were going to flip a coin to see who would fall off the scaffold between New Jack and Vic Grimes. New Jack was like, "you can flip a coin all you want to. I doesn't matter if it lands on heads or tails: Vic Grimes is falling off the scaffold." New Jack was there for business.
