- The most dangerous wrestling match ever was XPW Freefall 2002, Vic Grimes was tasered by New Jack and thrown from a 40ft scaffold tower. Some say that was attempted murder. To make matters worse, the insurance papers for the event were faked so it was totally uninsured.

This makes Taker throwing Foley from the top of the cell look like child's play by comparison.
But that's not what is truly impressive about that match, it's the fact he took another fall that could have easily paralyzed him if he landed wrong, which he almost did. It was basically a matter of a couple inches. And then he kept going after that, falling into the thumb tacks. Also, the guys sitting at the table he was thrown on had no idea it was coming, imagine if they didn't get out of the way in time. So, I would definitely not call that child's play and also stop hating on Mick Foley, that man is a legend of the sport.

@@briahthompson If Jack had thrown him a little harder or even if he hadn't turned while he was falling, he would've completely missed the ring and hit the concrete, which would've killed him for sure. The scariest part is that's what New Jack was hoping for because all he wanted was revenge for Grimes unintentionally giving him brain damage in 2000 and that's just one instance of how even though he was over as hell with the fans, he often took things way too far and that'll be his legacy but he did that to himself when he never had to.

Scaffolds in wrestling matches aren't usually that high. So this here was definitely overdone and very risky.
indie wrestling in the 90s and especially 2000s was so unregulated and honestly, they were EXTREMELY lucky that situations didn't get a lot worse

Imagine going up on the scaff knowing ur going off it but then new jack pulls out a taser and starts lighting u up, ain’t no way I’d be going off it after that, dude was pretty big new jack couldn’t pick him up and throw him off dude would have to allow it. If u look at the moment he goes off he more or less jumps. Was a work 100%

what really puts this incident into perspective is that angel took the same bump a few months later.
in an interview he talked about how awkward it was being up there, the angle there was that he got shot with a dart gun that suppsoedly paralyzed him, but he was still unsure how he should transition standing on that structure to falling safely and hitting the tables, white he was up on the platform, so the guy he was up there with essentially just gave him a bump on the back and he jumped.
he also points out that he was unsure about the bump, among other reasons because he felt that it would take vics prestige for taking the bump just month earlier, among other reasons.
vic grimes was known to be the big guy who takes high drops, and new jack was pretty much always in kayfabe.
i think the storyline is awesome and everything, but realisticallly speaking i do still believe it to be significantly more likely that the spot was just slightly botched by them.
maybe they didnt know how to realistically transition to the drop on that wobbly construction.
the idea that new jacks claims arent primarily for character purposes seems to strongly conflict with accounts of who he was in his personal life.

Anyone who found themselves matched up against new Jack on a card dreaded it,Mike awesome was 6 foot 6 powerhouse who coild move like a cruiserweight and whose matches were loaded with dented chairs and destroyed tables,he feared for his own life the one time he took on new Jack. To say nothing of the mass transit incident the gypsy joe incident,the time he legit stabbed a guy in the ring,when he cracked one guy’s skull ooen with a chair shot,or an Indy tag match where he went needlessly violent on a young tag team for having their name seem like a rip off of his old tag team with mustafa

I think that Jack is absolutely lying when he said he wanted to kill Vic. I think that either A: they just screwed up the fall and Jack made this whole thing up to work the marks and keep up his mystique, or B: Jack deliberately overshot Vic, but not to kill him, instead to “teach him a lesson”
Well new jack kinda brought that on himself because vic didnt want to do the spot but jack forced him so of course the spot got messed up. New jack was dumb as a bag of rocks blaming someone else for something that was clearly his own fault.

At the Living Dangerously PPV in 2000, Vic fell off a scaffold and dragged Jack down with him, causing him to land on Jack’s head and give him brain damage. Jack then claimed he overshot him out of revenge
He didn’t wanna go through with the spot during the match and wanted to back out of it…. Here is a rule that I learned from Tommy Dreamer. If you got a spot in the match, and it’s televised LIVE. You cannot back out at the last minute.

a fall like that no joke, when I was younger I fell nearly 50ft in a cave onto a pile of sharp rocks, ironically the rocks save me, one foot hit the uneven rocks first breaking my fall as well as my ankle then I went down on my back, some of the sharp rocks thru my clothing cutting open my back, hit me head as well but just hard enough from falling backward after my body had stopped, cut the back of my head open as well, knocked the wind out of my lungs, never forget the struggle to get air it seemed like it took forever.

I get why Darkside of the Ring did the episode on them with all the seediness involved in that company that fits the title "Darkside of the Ring", but XPW was pure TRASH! They've contributed NOTHING to the wrestling business and where it is today & Rob Black was NOT an influential promoter in wrestling history. He was a complete POS who should still be in jail to this day. Shockingly XPW is actually still a thing. Sort of, very few people give a flying FxCK about them & I was only made aware of their current existence with that disgusting testicle spot that went viral. But right after the news of that died down the promotion went right back into obscurity where they belong.

I dunno, but i think neither the tasering nor the scaffold were shocking. It's just the tables that was wrong (at least the way it was). The scaffold was there so someone gets thrown down, so this was not surprising.
