NOFX played in my backyard before they were even named NOFX. Fat mike wasnt even fat mike. and Smelly was the trashiest one. good ol days! i miss hanging out with mike in LA
In the "45 or 46 songs.." compilation booklet, Mike says this record was lost and would never see the light of the sun again... I'm glad this is here, I really wanted to know how they sounded before their 85 EP... Mike also states he was 16 when he recorded this, that means they were young and they were already writing complex and awesome riffs. I thought this record was going to be much worse, but it's great.
I saw nofx all the time back when they were playing this and just starting out They hung out in green bay for about a year and played every show they could. Ive seen them a dozen times, never by choice and never once paid! Use to chant go home at fat mike when ever i saw him...gbhc.
I read about this in the liner notes of 45 or 46 Songs That Weren't Good Enough to Go on Our Other Records. It's quite damn good. Fat Mike said it would never see the light day. It did see the light of day thanks to the magic of the Internet and TH-cam!
Saw em once and asked them to play ant attack, Mike got waaay pissed...nuttin beats this and the Mystic rec years, mom's rules, shitting bricks...my friends....they probably got burned by D. Moody, tired of aholes in the stupid cromagnon punx days....wuz pretty stupid them days...still worth it though...good on them for doin what they feel like...
I remember this tape somebody probably stole it from me. The more I think about it I'm starting to wonder if it was a 7in or tape we trade all the time oh well still pretty cool
never disappointed. I fuckn love these guys so much. good demonstration of younger Mikes vocal cords..or is that someone else singing? song no.2 reminds me of ill repute
Are you geeks seriously saying this sounds "horrible" ... what the shit do you think Hardcore /Trash/Punk etc is? Blink 182? Its Hardcore not Softcore...This sounds perfect...and captures exactly what they would have sounded like and wanted to sound like... its not meant to sound like MTV...it was finger to commercial corporate bullshit... getting hold of this in 1984 was like pure gold...if you weren't there maybe you'll just never get it...never really know what it was about ... so its not your fault... but grow some testicles anyway and give mum her car keys back, buy yer own car!
Eugene K I love this. I also love Maximum RNR, Liberal Animation, S&M, and half of Ribbed. After that cutoff point this band turned to pop puke sellout mush. I don't recognize their existence anymore after Ribbed. They were no longer NOFX. So like Ben Weasel says, stop writing these sellouts. They broke up after Ribbed!
I just don't get why its different from their official reissue. This ones better because it has the intro. But was their more than one demo tape or what? I saw a picture of one in their hepatitis bathtub book and it had a slightly different setlist too...

Infinitely better than their other material.
It’s certainly the best I’ve heard this band sound

I think this is cool. Thanks for posting this.
the best era of NOFX, wish they were still like this.
Thanx, I wasn't aware they started as a splendid punkband ! Kroezel
It's crazy how they were still in high school when they recorded this, but had this level of talent.
I like it, it reminds me of Corrosion of Conformitys "eye for an eye"
