Doesn't get much simpler than melting a pile of scrap mixed pieces. 19 kg melted and 18 added to the stack so a decent haul from something that was sitting around for awhile. Thanks for the ongoing support and sticking with me guys and gals . I really appreciate you all . Now sit back relax enjoy the video and hope you enjoy it and look forward to seeing all you beautiful people next Friday👋🏻😁
why don't you mix the alloys? brass or bronze and aluminum? I don't understand. then your ingots become more than one color. If a lot of zinc in the alloy has burned, then add zinc
Didn't think this day would ever come! Been a long week, and this is just what I needed. Thank you as always BigStackD! So excited for when the Monsoons hit us here in Arizona! I am living vicariously through your storms right now.
This is where your decade-plus of experience really shows, with the pours into those wee tiny molds. Even using a lifter with chirpy zinc, you still made perfect hearts and stars (expert level) and made it look effortless, the mark of a true craftsman. Cheers, mate 🍻
I forgot to say this last week. If that was your voice last week "okay, let's melt," then you should find an Australian audiobook business. A narration of a few classic Australian short stories would sound great with your voice. That deep resonant accent would be great.
Firstly, no I didn't miss it, I saw last weeks mahoossive melt. And loved it. Looking forward to todays and have been since the last episode finished. A WEEK. A WHOLE WEEK, MAN. That's seven days in old money.....but we all made it..
Another great video with the spy planes, hungry birds, dogs bath and I think that's the most I seen it rain since I started watching your videos. See ya next Friday. 😊🍺
Awesome Video !!! Thanks!! I believe that is the most zinc you have melted to date. I love it when you melt zinc because of its low melting point. I just kept thinking, “Wow, look at all that future Nordic Gold”! 😂😅
Thanks for the amazing video, always great to watch you melt different metals. Have you ever thought about making random alloys like 10% aluminum, 5% tin or zinc, and 85% copper or any other random mixtures you can think of.
DRILL OUT PARTS! Yes very good advice! I melted down a box of RF Filters and they all had plates covering the conduits. A lot of them had water entrapped inside, but putting them in skinny end first let it cook off. Well I put one in fat side first, and I had about 2 seconds to react from when I heard a hiss and saw the level of melted metal in my crucible rise rapidly and when it started raining molten aluminum everywhere. Caught one good burn through my safety gear, and melted through both of my gas hoses turning one into its own blow torch till I got the gas shut off.
@@bigstackD You could say I had a rather kinetic learning experience. Now I have braided steel gas lines and a 2 foot Jackson Pollock-esque foil casting of my back patio. Safety gear worked as advertised. The one burn I took was on my gut about the size of a dime that found that one open spot. No big deal. All my kit is 100% cotton or leather, so everything else just bounced off or flash burnt out. Won't say I got lucky, but I will say I was prepared for just that kind of thing when it happened. Kinda Zen sitting on my stool surrounded by burning and smoking and steaming chaos thiking...huh...well I guess I'm done for the day, right? lol Have a good one mate!
could you do a video explaining the properties of the metals you usually melt, how you recognize them and how you melt them, maybe some dos and don'ts? I really appreciate when you share your experience of metals! Great vid as always!
Your growing friendship with the Magpies is scanning the same as it did with me. To the pint where they aren't always hungry when they pop in, they just want to check out what you're up to.
The late one to the melt party here Spay planes not even 7 minutes in !!!!! I'll go INSANE 😥😥😥😛🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😱😱😱😫😫😫😫😫😫😫 As always Cheers mate from Quebec ☕☕ or 🍺🍺🍺and 🥃🥃🥃🥃🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴
Nice melt, a little of this, a little of that and some zinc to try and show up the copper. We had rain heading towards us yesterday ( upper Midwest Michigan, USA ), for some reason the rain storms pushed south about 20 miles from us. I've lived here almost 34 years, and rarely has this happened. I was on the front porch waiting for the rain, went to the kitchen which is at the back of the house, and it was raining in the back yard, it never touched the truck or sidewalk in the front. Earlier this year, I had almost the same thing happen, but at the last minute, it sprinkled in the front. This has happened only a few times since I've lived here.
Always look forward to seeing your videos pop up on my feed. Sometimes I fall asleep to them, but always watch them the next day. I wish you could send your weather this way, as this weekend the temp is supposed to be 100F with high humidity where I am at (East Central Alabama).
BTW, loved the brief comment you actually VOICED in last week’s video! Total surprise! I think you’ve only ever spoken in one other video, that I’ve seen. Love your videos, and I always look forward here in AZ to Friday morning at 1am for your video upload of the week.
Hey BigstackD, love your vids man. Its very entertaining watching metal melt an you turn junk into something more precious. Are you ever going to do something more complicated than bars? Would love to see a nordic gold dagger pour or something like it. Also love how those birds feed from your hand, pretty cool
ahh!.. i love the rain!, im sure you folks down under need some good rainfall!... keep up the good work, love the channel... we had tons of rain here in so calif this year but alas... summer is here
Returning vetering of the channel was away on holiday courtesy of the courts. Glad to be back and so so happy to see the channel has exploded! Youve earned it!
Nice melt there Big D! It's a bit dodgy that Bunyip season is approaching! You'll have to deal with them AND the drop bears! Take it easy mate. Talk to you soon. btw, I sent you a couple of stickers for my channel.
No worries at all mate I’ll be sure to chuck it up on the beer fridge when they come in. Thanks again for your ongoing support mate. Hopefully you’re doing well 👍🏻 looking forward to show off the machine on the channel. Have a good one mate. I’m off to 50th so hopefully it’s not a repeat on last night🤦🏻♂️
yes ingots its friday, they are back, once i will definetly visit your backyards, have some tea with you, watching kukaburahs, parrots & crows with, you are superrrrrrstar, love from INDIA...
I loved seeing the ice! I have an idea for your next goal. It’s to use everything you already have in your shop. It will help clean things up. Unless you get something for free from somebody. I’d love to see a clean shop and many melts.
Zinc is almost 3 times heavier than aluminium and that’s normally the Best way to tell. But if it’s attached to something, and you can’t gauge the weight, you can always scratch a bit of a chunk out of it hit it with a blow torch and if it burns bright white or yellow or gives off white smoke in the form of zinc oxide then you’ll know it’s definitely zinc whereas aluminium won’t give off any smoke. Probably easier way to figure it out, but that’s how I do it👍🏻

As usual great video always look forward to seeing you and the monkeys lol. But I have to ask why is there so much slag from zinc?
why don't you mix the alloys? brass or bronze and aluminum? I don't understand. then your ingots become more than one color. If a lot of zinc in the alloy has burned, then add zinc
why don't you make something with real GOLD?
Hi. What brand of crucible do you use, recommend.
From New Zealand 🇳🇿
Is there a reason why the molten brass always look like it's lumpy when it pours? The other other metals look smooth almost water like
I feel like he is slowly transforming into Ace Ventura Pet Detective with the way those birds eat right out of his hand! And I’m here for it!
Me too, I like birds, any idea what they are? Magpies, crows ??
I have no idea why, but watching you melt metal is so relaxing. Thanks for sharing with us.

Good to see the world being kept safe by the wonderful Bullion. Your pups are beautiful.
"Actually, turns out she loves it" That almost made me spit my coffee across the room.

The copper smashing on the anvil is quite musical.🎵
This is where your decade-plus of experience really shows, with the pours into those wee tiny molds. Even using a lifter with chirpy zinc, you still made perfect hearts and stars (expert level) and made it look effortless, the mark of a true craftsman. Cheers, mate 🍻

Brass looked great today. Always love to see all the powdery slag coming out.

Bloody hell mate, that doesn’t sound too good at all😆

I know this isn't the save the rain channel but that water from the rain is more valuable than your melts combined.
The rain in the background got me drifting off LOL relaxing as hell
There is just something so cool about zinc melting. The birds are really beginning to trust you!
The copper pours are the most satisfying
I'm really impressed with how you can tell the metals apart so easily.
The late one to the melt party here
Spay planes not even 7 minutes in !!!!!

A lot of work! But how much pleasure 😊🤜🤛
its interesting how some of your fancy new 4k def shots take on the visual aesthetic of coronation street re runs from the late 80's to 90's :)

Now you have throwing stars 👍
Greetings from Poland :D
👋🏻
Those birds have beautiful voices. Greetings from Copenhagen.
And it begins once again.
In accordance with prophecy
Getting that brass up to par with all the others. I like it. Makes the stack look even.
It always amazes me how much surface tension zinc has!
Always interesting. But a question... how do you tell zinc from cast aluminium or other alloy/s?
Zinc is almost 3 times heavier than aluminium and that’s normally the Best way to tell. But if it’s attached to something, and you can’t gauge the weight, you can always scratch a bit of a chunk out of it hit it with a blow torch and if it burns bright white or yellow or gives off white smoke in the form of zinc oxide then you’ll know it’s definitely zinc whereas aluminium won’t give off any smoke. Probably easier way to figure it out, but that’s how I do it👍🏻
I love the sizzling and popping sound the molten copper makes when being poured, and when it freezes to me it kinda looks like the surface of Mars.
