    The kids are CLEARLY uncomfortable. There's a difference between expressive dancing and sexual dancing. The normalization of treating kids like they're sexually mature is so disturbing, and you're right that it makes it harder for them to set boundaries when they're older.

      When it should be the exact opposite. Dance is one of the best physical activities you can have to teach teens and pre-teens how to set physical and emotional boundaries, on both sides of the partnership. Like, instead of forcing them to date, send them together to see older dancers perform and arrange for an encounter/discussion with said dancers. Could also be a reality check for the parents and "teacher" on what it implies to be a dancer while we're at it. Can't hurt.

    I've been a semi-pro dancer for eight years.
    There is absolutely NO reason for children to be wearing bra tops while they learn to dance. None.
    In real dance classes, we teach STRONGER boundaries, as well as sensitivity and empathy for your partner, and how to communicate your feelings. Partner dance is a wonderful way to teach young people how to handle feelings, attraction, body awareness, and self expression in a safe environment.
    What I just saw goes against everything that we teach.

Real institutions, with real professional instructors do not subjugate the students to innapropriate and abusive instruction, choreography, or costumes. These "Dance Mom's" do not have the credentials to instruct children's dance. And that kiss! Sick and wrong. No respect for personal boundaries, and no respect for the art of dance. As for street or hip hop dance exibited in popular culture, I agree with Aba pertaining to kids emulating certain moves. For instance, kids twerking is innapropriate. I don't want to see it. I don't want to see kids doing the splits and then bouncing. Not cool. Parents need to be careful what they expose their kids to, and celebrities need to take more responsibility for their actions. Again, there is a difference between kids wearing leotards in a dance studio and performing for friends and family for shows, and competitions where numbers are "judged" and you have dance companies who know they get a competitive edge by sexualizing the dance numbers and costumes to get the most amount of attention and awards for their company.

      @@sanadrin8359 First off, you are making assumptions about the people who disagree with that movie (did you watch it btw?). And the show they are referring to (dance moms) ran from 2011-2019 it literally ended last year, so your argument is VERY irrelevant EVEN IF everyone who criticised is in their 20s.

    • @sanadrin8359
      @sanadrin8359 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@noctilucera7585 Firstly just because its an assumption doesn't mean it is wrong, considering a majority of people who use Netflix are young adults probably.
      Secondly, I don't think it is irrelevant considering as someone who fell in that age group, when that show started I was only 11, and had never heard of it until the outrage over this film, meaning it must not have been popular outside of the outrage it garnered from boomers, and pedophiles who got a fucked up free source of the thing they desperately try to get material on, child promiscuity.
      Finally, no I haven't seen the film, and don't plan on seeing it because I am just not interested in watching children performing and sort of promiscuous acts. It won't change my point of view on anything, I already abhor pedophiles, and shows like Dance Moms, and feel they and the people who make such shows should be raped to death by boars.
      However, I don't see how my viewing of the movie is relevant either, considering I wasn't arguing anything on the movie, just explaining to people why more people are up in arms about this but not Dance Moms, which btw I feel is a blanket statement cop-out implying since other generations didn't stand against something the current generation finds horrible then they don't have a right to complain about the same issue when the same issue is to a lower degree.
      Another reason I feel my assumption is correct is that the current generation is much more open about there thoughts and views on subjects and quick to pile on the cancel culture on things they hear about, and this film is being canceled probably means the age group I said is probably responsible for the backlash and criticism.

      @MaeB I get what you are saying. But, what actually happens and what get more views are two different things. Men are more villianized than women even when they commit the same crimes. The stories that get more views are of men papetrators.. Take the story of The French President for example, Imagine his situation was reversed 😂😂😂😂. There are women abusers too and the consequences of their actions are almost has similar to men. One of the reasons why they don't get caught is either the law is always on their side and the media outcry is always mild when it comes to this cases regarding women abusers. Another example was the Netflix "White lines" where the mother admitted to jacking off her son in a red cup conversation,her defense was that it was like jacking off a male pet😂😂😂😂. Imagine if a man said that his 11 year old daughter was sexually attracted to him(which happens all the time) and he eases her sexual urge by fingering her?🙄... At the end of it all.. I tried searching on TH-cam critics of Dance mums and the search result for critisms is relatively low. We can't get equality if a particular group gets chastised than the other for the same crimes.

    As a youth advocate, this reminds me about how parents fail to understand how kids learn "no". The parent thinks they can bully their kid just by saying "no", and fail to ever respect when a kid wants to set boundaries and say "no. The difference comes down to recognizing individual autonomy as the foundation of all human rights. Sadly many parents contradict this by acting as the predators crossing their kids' boundaries. You have to ask what they really mean then when they say "kids can't consent". So the authority figure decides whether a kid is hugged or not? Or worse, sexually used or not? If this is the case, it justifies every level of abuse up to sex trafficking, where the authority is making the decision for the kid. I constantly see parents contradicting their words with their actions, using hypothetical stories of abuse to justify actually abusing and controlling their kids' lives. This makes such kids extremely vulnerable throughout their lives, because the parent or adult normalized abuse and normalized disrespect for boundaries.

      Because parents try to live vicariously through their kids, so they don't see it as abuse, because they want to be in their position. It's disgusting, and one of the major reasons people need to learn to be satisfied with their own life, and not control their children's lives. It also doesn't help that people tend to see abuse from women as FAR MORE acceptable than abuse from a man. It's the same thing. People are deplorable, and should be getting jailtime for making shows like this.

I respectfully asked her not to when we were alone and then she proceeded to verbally abuse me multiple times, in front of family, over the phone, via text. She was my aunt. Their lips did not touch. But let me tell you I put up with her calling me all sorts for 3 days and then I snapped. And now the whole family think I'm a POS. That's fine. Kiss my BABY when I have told you no. I'm calling the police. I don't care if you are family, I will NOT have someone kiss my child or touch them without consent.
