      Also, be careful saying things like more people hit their boys rather than their girls. My grandpa was exceptionally abusive towards my mom but not to my aunt. It's based on what they want to see in their kids, and while that may relate to gender, it's not even a defining factor when compared to what bad parenting can do to a child.

      My anecdote serves as exactly that reason. If someone hears you just say that, they disagree with immediately based on feelings. If you qualify your statement though, then that person absorbs the fact without putting their walls up. This way, you win by changing their mind ;)

She threw a mechanical pencil at me and the lead part hit my arm, no problem didn’t hurt. Then I proceed to throw it back, and the eraser, THE MOTHERCLUCKING ERASER hits her in the forehead and she starts to bust out crying. Long story short I get an incident report, some pressed parent scolds me, had to kneel on carpet for 2 hours by my parents, couldn’t watch TV for 2 weeks and oh I missed my favorite team the patriots play in the Super Bowl. Male victims of domestic abuse are ridiculed, denied access to help services and are treated as if they are the aggressor. Dr. Phil has an issue where he supports female abusers and makes excuses for their behaviors, as well as completely ignoring the usual Domestic Violence situation of Mutual Violence. He blames male victims of female abusers and I've even seen video of him making the case that the man deserved, as well as him talking male victims into staying with their abuser.
      There was a couple on his show whom I forget the names of, but Phil really made me angry and that's when I decided he was full of crap. The woman openly admitted that she starts the arguments, starts the violence, refuses to let him leave, and even chases him down in order to force him to strike out as her whether that be in the form of moving her out of the way so he can escape or pushing/knocking her down. He described a harrowing experience where he came home from work exhausted and she began as soon as he walked in the door with typical name calling and then attacked, chased him down and trapped him a hallway closet for hours pounding on it and throwing things at. She backed up that that was exactly how it happened. And she bragged about badmouthing him to the kids and teaching the kids to hate their dad. Dr. Phil then basically told this that she had every right to do these things because he wasn't listening to her and giving her what she needed while she sat there with a shit eating grin.
      I swear, talk shows are some of the most damaging shit on TV.

Plus he don't really care, in that momment he was looking at a man he saw as a threat to his daughter. The "funny" thing is that it's not just two similar cases treated differently.
    The first case is much more clear cut, with an innocent victim abused by a psychopathic narcicist, because of his low self esteem and her manipulation.
    In the second case both parties seem to have emotional and anger issues, tending to violence and irrational behaviour, with the guy doing more damage, because he is stronger.
    Yet in the first case the perpetrator is treated as a victim, without taking any responsibility, while the guy in the second case atleast claims to take responsibility and works on himself gets a prison and death threat....

    • @noahheninger
      @noahheninger 5 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      So true. The second guy was taking at least some ownership of his actions, but was receiving the most condemnation. Dr. Phil didn't need to agree with his recent actions of sleeping with her the night before taping, but he should have endeavored to understand his rationale rather than using it as leverage to threaten him. I think he did it because he thought he had made a lot of progress and had earned it. I have no doubt that he did it in good faith. Dr Phil should have tried to uncover all this but instead comes across as very unprofessional to me. And the fact that the woman has no problem hitting him back and destroying his property says a lot, too.
      The woman in the first couple seemed to have no remorse and appeared to take no responsibility. She was definitely more typically abusive.

    No, he hasn't. If she goes out of her way to contact him and/or be with him the restraining order ceases to be valid. I would be surprised if his lawyer didn't get that restraining order thrown out just by showing her admitting on camera that she's the one that sought him out.

      And forgive my ignorance, but aren’t restraining orders limited to certain locations as well? Like if they left their home state to be on the show, does the order still hold in a place where the presiding judge that set the order doesn’t have any jurisdiction?

    • @angelicasimmons6858
      @angelicasimmons6858 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      You're right.
      When travelling to other states with an R.O., the state has to prove that it has jurisdiction over the person whom the R.O. is against. However, neither of them live/operate in the state on a daily basis (at least that's what it looks like), she didn't move there, and there was apparently no abuse taking place in that state while they were did, nor did she petition the state for an R.O. to have one issued.
      However, a valid R.O. is still considered a valid R.O., so when you move to a new state it's still valid, you just have to register it. And while travelling the protected person should keep a copy of it on their person and show it to the police to have it acted upon. Such as when the one whom it's against shows up at your hotel and refuses to leave until moments before the cops arrive. Then you can call the cops, tell them you have and R.O. and you must show it to them when they show up and that person will probably get arrested for the violation, but then it's up to the court.
      In this particular case, the court of the state they were in would have a really hard time prosecuting it, as the "violation" occurred in their state and would require a trial there. And the main reason they would have trouble prosecuting such a case is because she is the one who sought him out, who willingly had sex with him, and even ditched her bodyguard to go to him, as well as agreeing to appear on a TV show with him. There was also no abuse that occurred during their visit (that we know of).
      However, he can take the video of her admitting that she sought him, people saying that she ditched her bodyguard (which she had to know she had one), and use that to nullify the R.O. against him.

    • @jakandaxter1
      @jakandaxter1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Jarsia The statement I made was entirely factually correct. "Words alone (emphasis on alone) are not enough to charge someone." Neither I nor did OP bring up attempted murder.
      I watched this video months ago so I forget the context, but by his comment all he said was that he threatened him on the show, meaning they were speaking right there and not referencing prior events. If he said hostile remarks and did nothing else he's entirely within his rights.
      Edit: I could be wrong cause I'm not gonna rewatch the video but I'm going to assume the dad was not charged for the previous 'attempted murder incident' (if he was disregard this). If he was not charged for driving around with intent to kill then there's no evidence the incident happened and he could easily argue that it was made for TV drama.
      Even if he were to be charged for attempted murder that day you still need acts that further the crime. Objectively, he was driving around his town/city. There are millions of reasons why someone who is angry would do that. Is he not allowed to leave his house anymore because he's furious? In America we do not persecute thought crimes and because of that we have a strict standard on what an 'attempt' consists of.

    • @Jarsia
      @Jarsia 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@jakandaxter1 Well firstly, I'm sure the whole thing is staged drama anyway, it's more of a reflection of society that saying that kind of stuff is cheered on.
      But if we take the clip seriously, he did in fact say he had physically gone looking for him in order to kill him. That's not a thought crime, it's a blatant admission of attempted murder. Granted there is likely no proof of that and legally he could probably hide behind a defense of just "talking tough". But to literally say, "I got up and left the house with the intention of murdering you and you're only alive because I couldn't find you", that's not freedom of speech, that's detailing an illegal action you took. It's not him saying that that he would be charged for, it would be driving around deliberately looking for someone he intended to kill. If a cop pulled him over and asked where he was heading, and he said "Imma go kill by daughters BF", the officer isn't gonna let him go. Doesn't matter he hasn't succeeded yet, he's committed himself to committing murder, hence the attempted part.
      Now like I said, with no proof he could just say he was fucking with him, and the whole thing is almost certainly fake, but it's still messed up.
