I'm a diamond support main so my personal ult usage has started to shift a little bit, but in plat and below, just use your ult at the beginning of the fight after you get it. unless you want to combo ults with a teammate, just use the damn ult to open the next fight once your whole team is there. that is the perfect time to use your ult. it doesnt matter what ult it is. when i was climbing through plat, the biggest mistake i would see support players make in my replays where my team won was that they werent using their ults proactively and they were playing so passive, not understanding that they need to make plays or not understanding how to make plays as the hero they have chosen to play. just ult to initiate fights. you will win so many more games.

@@gentlepengu you missed the point. You don’t just pick a DPS and pocket. If you have hitscan like ash and this ash is doing something. You pocket. If you have a solider. Who’s doing something. You pocket. If you have an ash and a solider, you pocket the one doing more. If neither of your DPS are trynna carry, you gotta figure out which one would be better to pocket. Hell, I’ve seen mercy’s pocket a kiri because she was doing something and out DPs were not. lol. Mercy pocket is not DPS. It’s who’s doing the most and securing the most kills.
@gentlepengu there's a difference between pocketing a dps and sticking your stick up your duos ass the entire game like it happens sometimes. It's about balance, mercy still has to pay attention to other heros.
@@AngrySecs YES THANK YOU. as a mercy player, nothing bothers me more than the misconception that Mercy just focuses on one teammate. my perspective has always been that your DPS are kind of your default. if there's nothing more pressing, you're vibing with them, but when there's an opportunity to damage boost your other support or your tank or someone else needs your healing or you need to glock a bitch, you go do that and THEN go back to the dps. I know you were making a broader point about the danger of fixating on your duo regardless of hero, but I'm obsessed with Mercy so I only talk about her lmao
@@Musey2 you shouldn't force the sensitivity to what you think would be "better", but use settings you feel most comfortable with. Try playing around with the advanced settings, try out different ones and adjust accordingly. I'll promise you it'll be a lot better, even when going in high sens. Good luck! I've never seen someone throw suzu on cool down like that. Its actually wild, it's like it's a macro that reads when the cool down is over. The whole team will be full health no debuffs and they'll suzu 10/10 times.
Yup i had a game similar my baptist was using his lamp of cooldown meanwhile am on lw wanting to curse him especially sence he used his lamps on the Middle of nothing so of course that lamp was active only 0.2 seconds
I think this Kiriko REALLY struggles at aiming their heals. Really good healing tracking with Kiriko can result in a burst of 130 heals. But this Kiriko is barely getting 26 heals (one pair of ofuda) while spending a significant amount of time holding down their heals.
this is my vod and i was thinking i should clarify a little lmao, im an ana otp trying to branch out to other supports this season, my suzu usage and heal aim was horrible im actively trying to improve that (liked the "clean up the walls" jokes), happy to say that my suzu aim has improved from when i watched this stream(kinda), heal aim still horrible, ive also started solo queuing a bit more to get rid of that "i only have to care about my duo" mentality, thank you for the tips youve been giving me in this video though! edit: started solo queuing and incorporating these thought processes into my gameplay and went from a 43% win percentage to 51% on kiri, also i got to gold 2 without duo queuing a game after this vod (take that people saying my friend boosted me >:D) edit 2 (yes i will continue updating incase someone finds this useful) ive also lowered my deadzone while lowering my sens to 90% vertical/90% horizontal, aiming to get it back up to 100 on both but this has helped me be more precise and calm while shooting and helps avoid situations where i think "where are they" while dueling them edit 3: deadzone changes worked wonders, im now dying less due to faster reactions and being able to suzu myself faster and tping out if i happen to be in danger, deaths like the one that happened at 7:20 doesnt happen as often(and i know, reaction wasnt the reason i died there, i stayed there far too long and thats why i died, but you get what i mean) edit 4: I STARTED LEAVING VC, i realized that vc is not the place that you want to be while learning a hero(people dont tend to listen to you if you make plans either)
Idk if this is something that you care about or if you've already done, but I switched my trigger layout, right for kunai and left for heals. Just a quality of life that I did for myself.
@musey2694 well I can't say much just off of one replay, but you've said that you've gotten better and have climbed so kudos. I guess my biggest thing is to always keep track of cooldowns that way you know when you should or shouldn't use suzu. Anti, certain ults, dynamite, just not popping it off cooldown. There's times when you could use it, but give your enemy the benefit of the doubt that they're keeping track of your suzu usage and will jump on that opportunity.
It always makes me mad seeing Chat say things like "Ugh console" and "Consle overwatch is a whole different game" like, sorry I don't have thousands of dollars to get a good PC with good equipment to play a game like Overwatch. the fact that I use a different platform doesn't change the that it's the same game. it's like if an artist that uses oil paint tells another artist that uses colored pencils that what they do isn't art. anyways, thanks for listening
idk about the dropping thousands on a pc part, my mid tier pc I paid 600 euro for 7 years ago still runs the game totally fine, overwatch is one of the most accessible pc games out there for mediocre setups. Yes it is technically the same game, but the severe limitations of everyone being on controller make it play very differently

With PC, the mouse represent the crosshairs position. With console, the stick represents the velocity of the crosshair. This makes console aiming much harder and so aim and characters that require lots of it are much much worse on console. That’s what people mean when they say overwatch console is a different game. The kind of characters which are effective are different due to the means of control. You are right that’s it’s silly to say they are different games. However, there is a clear change between the two platforms.

I think the reason they are as high as they are is due to duoing. the Winston wasn't perfect but they clearly know what they want to do as Winston. they have the right idea and execute it pretty successfully for their rank, and they generally have done a pretty good job of jumping out when needed and waiting for healing behind cover. that kind of thing is more than enough to carry a lot of games in lower ranks. the kiriko - and the mercy - was at least committed to trying to keep their Winston alive and that can be enough to let the tank carry. I think being on the low end of gold makes sense for them given the fact their duo is a tank who is likely high gold or even low plat (either literally ranked that way or in terms of skill level) AND they are attempting to work with their tank which enables the tank. if they queued on their own, I think they would probably be mid silver max, only because their aim is gold level.

@@THE__VANNY_._1 lets be real, console or pc if your not high diamond/low masters you're bad at the game (coming from a gold/plat player). But lets not just ignore everybody who is in a higher rank on console uses XIM because of how much easier it is to aim on m&k. Positioning and awareness can only carry so much before a mechanical check becomes a huge factor.
As a high diamond console Kiriko (peaked M1 in S4), one thing that really jumped into my eye is how shakey their heals are, which is a common issue bc of the high sens needed to keep up with the pace of the game (especially on Kiri with the quick turn+tp). My tip for them is to try and calm down when healing, try to make the concious decision of "okay my Winston is low, I need to land these papers before I do anything else". You can still throw a kunai or two in between heals but in a hectic situation a lot of console Kiriko will panic and whiff everything (even happens to me sometimes, having no aim assist on a quick moving target isnt easy😅)
The bias against console is so real and so stupid that it is rare to actually come across useful information like this. PC only players tend to imagine that controller players both have this amazing assist that works out to being aim bot, while also somehow having such a clumsy input method that they're not even playing the game... It's nonsense. Particularly when it comes to healing on console, I don't think PC players understand the amount of aim skill that it takes to track a target with thumbs with no assist
feels like someone who watched some high level streamers doing the support-dps role and doesn't understand that it isn't just something you can replicate regardless of your skill level

If soldier's crying about not getting heals he needs to find his E button and a wall, and use his shift to get there. General rule as someone who used to mainly play soldier but now also picked up support ;p
I'm not 100% sure because I don't play on console but have you gone into history where your highlights are saved and then gone to replays? on PC, there is an option to click on the replay and then pin it so it doesn't disappear. then there should be an option to share it and it will generate a code. however, all replays are deleted when there is a new patch so they don't stay saved forever.
Go to Career Profile → History → Replays. Find the game you want to save, while hovering on it you can see options on the bottom of your screen. Pin it by pressing right stick if you want to keep it for yourself and share with the options button (for example - on switch and the three = on Xbox, I don't know what the button is called on PS but it's located on the same spot of the controller) that will pop up a code that you can give to others. If you want to see someone else's game for example, you go to Career Profile → History → Replays → Import (on the right side, next to mode sorting) and write in the code someone shared with you. Be careful, all replay codes get reset after a patch! Meaning this mid season patch will delete the replay you saved (even if you pinned it) and the code won't work anymore
The issue is no one is supporting the dps. Mercy is pocketing Winston. Kiri is teleporting with Winston. And dps are fending for themselves and expecting to pop off.
I wish these types of vids (from all content creators) were more forgiving for the submitter. Eg. at 8 minutes, the Kiri was clearly trying to cleanse then TP out, but was a fraction of a second late. Then Emongg says, “well you should have cleansed then TPd out.”
I thought Emongg was being extremely forgiving. If you are asking for coaching then you need to check your ego and focus on what the coach is saying. The suzus were all over the place in this game. Even if you can point to one example where it doesn't match perfectly with what he said his point overall is still valid. This Kiri kind of left their team high and dry to quasi sort of maybe dive with their duo, threw a lot of bad cleanses off cool down, bad/low ult usage, and got tunnel visioned. I think that overall they are heading in the right direction but they definitely need someone beating them with a stick to stay on the path. It may not be fun for most people to hear criticism, but when you submit a vod that is what you are signing up for. If people want to climb this is the stuff they need to fix. Hearing "oh you're doing great" (when you're not) is more detrimental to one's growth.
By that, he means, "you should have seen coming that you'd be caught out and escaped earlier". As a casual, I didn't understand that either for some time. It seemed very unforgiving and almost mean spirited when better players said stuff like that. But they mean that you should be thinking about your position more often and think ahead of what dangers you might run into. If you're finding yourself face to face with a Bastion, for example, don't stick around to duel him, tp away before he melts you with turret form. If you stay and get killed but *tried* to get away when the Bastion went into turret form, you made a bad decision, it's not that you didn't have time, because you did. It's a common mistake because casuals don't commonly know or foresee what other characters can and will do to punish them so they think they can afford to stay longer than they actually can
Reaper hard counters Winston. That’s why your Mercy had to basically pocket the Winston the entire game, when they should have been pocketing the dps. This is a risky strategy because you’re basically leaving the dps to fend for themselves and you’re putting it all on your Winston, who’s playing into a hard counter.
I have to disagree about reaper being a hard counter to Winton, he is a soft counter at best That said in lower ranks where a winston might not think to just....avoid a duel with the reaper, then he suddenly becomes a hard counter lol
You have the mobility to not fight reaper at all and just long range him. Reaper will just end up spending more time shooting blanks or hitting the back line. He barely does anything to Winston now that Winston has range
Reaper only feels like a hard counter if you fight him face to face as a winston. Wintons can jump away or heck, even play around with the bubble if the jump is on cooldown.

If you really want you can play Reaper like Brig and it doesn’t really have to be about getting in Winton’s face you can make your back line unkillable almost. It’d be like you saying “Brig doesn’t hard counter monkey” you can definitely play around a Brig and Winton can play around most of his counters but it’s still unfavorable. Torb is a “soft counter” Their original take that mercy should healbot a Winton being hard countered is wrong. Extremely so as well. Like who should mercy be pocketing the worst player on their team going 4-4 or the best going 28-7? The best. So if a heroes being hard countered you’re enabling the weakest link to be weak for longer, why. Like if a DPS is feeding as mercy you don’t just hard commit to that. If this Winton was theoretically being punished by this reaper… They’re not, but if they were, you’d want to pocket the DP not Winton… Also hard pocketing the tank is never the correct decision, very situational when you wanna pocket a tank as Mercy. Like full charge, ultimates, etc.
I understand where you’re coming from, but a mercy pocket healing a Winston against a reaper is not doing anything, they’d be better off dmg amping the dps

This dude has aimbot, I saw 3 hard snaps to their head that are extremely unnatural; especially considering this is console and the sensitivity is all over the map.
If you think it's impossible for a console player to hit lucky headshots I really dunno what to tell you. I've hit what I considered to be absurd headshots on Widow, but the thing is I've been playing for 8 years since season 2 of ow1. Judging on one game from a few shots out of the thousands I've played wouldn't seem very reasonable now would it?

I think the reason they are as high as they are is due to duoing. the Winston wasn't perfect but they clearly know what they want to do as Winston. they have the right idea and execute it pretty successfully for their rank, and they generally have done a pretty good job of jumping out when needed and waiting for healing behind cover. that kind of thing is more than enough to carry a lot of games in lower ranks. the kiriko - and the mercy - was at least committed to trying to keep their Winston alive and that can be enough to let the tank carry. I think being on the low end of gold makes sense for them given the fact their duo is a tank who is likely high gold or even low plat (either literally ranked that way or in terms of skill level) AND they are attempting to work with their tank which enables the tank. if they queued on their own, I think they would probably be mid silver max, only because their aim is gold level.

@@THE__VANNY_._1 lets be real, console or pc if your not high diamond/low masters you're bad at the game (coming from a gold/plat player). But lets not just ignore everybody who is in a higher rank on console uses XIM because of how much easier it is to aim on m&k. Positioning and awareness can only carry so much before a mechanical check becomes a huge factor.

As a high diamond console Kiriko (peaked M1 in S4), one thing that really jumped into my eye is how shakey their heals are, which is a common issue bc of the high sens needed to keep up with the pace of the game (especially on Kiri with the quick turn+tp). My tip for them is to try and calm down when healing, try to make the concious decision of "okay my Winston is low, I need to land these papers before I do anything else". You can still throw a kunai or two in between heals but in a hectic situation a lot of console Kiriko will panic and whiff everything (even happens to me sometimes, having no aim assist on a quick moving target isnt easy😅)
The bias against console is so real and so stupid that it is rare to actually come across useful information like this.
PC only players tend to imagine that controller players both have this amazing assist that works out to being aim bot, while also somehow having such a clumsy input method that they're not even playing the game... It's nonsense.
Particularly when it comes to healing on console, I don't think PC players understand the amount of aim skill that it takes to track a target with thumbs with no assist

how do you save the file on console cause i had a really good game i wanna save
I'm not 100% sure because I don't play on console but have you gone into history where your highlights are saved and then gone to replays? on PC, there is an option to click on the replay and then pin it so it doesn't disappear. then there should be an option to share it and it will generate a code. however, all replays are deleted when there is a new patch so they don't stay saved forever.
Go to Career Profile → History → Replays. Find the game you want to save, while hovering on it you can see options on the bottom of your screen. Pin it by pressing right stick if you want to keep it for yourself and share with the options button (for example - on switch and the three = on Xbox, I don't know what the button is called on PS but it's located on the same spot of the controller) that will pop up a code that you can give to others.
If you want to see someone else's game for example, you go to Career Profile → History → Replays → Import (on the right side, next to mode sorting) and write in the code someone shared with you.
Be careful, all replay codes get reset after a patch! Meaning this mid season patch will delete the replay you saved (even if you pinned it) and the code won't work anymore
The issue is no one is supporting the dps. Mercy is pocketing Winston. Kiri is teleporting with Winston. And dps are fending for themselves and expecting to pop off.
They both pocketed the reaper who was 1v5ing an entire team before capping 3rd point. Stop acting like dps were neglected children.

I wish these types of vids (from all content creators) were more forgiving for the submitter. Eg. at 8 minutes, the Kiri was clearly trying to cleanse then TP out, but was a fraction of a second late. Then Emongg says, “well you should have cleansed then TPd out.”
I thought Emongg was being extremely forgiving. If you are asking for coaching then you need to check your ego and focus on what the coach is saying. The suzus were all over the place in this game. Even if you can point to one example where it doesn't match perfectly with what he said his point overall is still valid.
This Kiri kind of left their team high and dry to quasi sort of maybe dive with their duo, threw a lot of bad cleanses off cool down, bad/low ult usage, and got tunnel visioned. I think that overall they are heading in the right direction but they definitely need someone beating them with a stick to stay on the path. It may not be fun for most people to hear criticism, but when you submit a vod that is what you are signing up for. If people want to climb this is the stuff they need to fix. Hearing "oh you're doing great" (when you're not) is more detrimental to one's growth.
By that, he means, "you should have seen coming that you'd be caught out and escaped earlier".
As a casual, I didn't understand that either for some time. It seemed very unforgiving and almost mean spirited when better players said stuff like that. But they mean that you should be thinking about your position more often and think ahead of what dangers you might run into.
If you're finding yourself face to face with a Bastion, for example, don't stick around to duel him, tp away before he melts you with turret form. If you stay and get killed but *tried* to get away when the Bastion went into turret form, you made a bad decision, it's not that you didn't have time, because you did.
It's a common mistake because casuals don't commonly know or foresee what other characters can and will do to punish them so they think they can afford to stay longer than they actually can

Reaper hard counters Winston. That’s why your Mercy had to basically pocket the Winston the entire game, when they should have been pocketing the dps. This is a risky strategy because you’re basically leaving the dps to fend for themselves and you’re putting it all on your Winston, who’s playing into a hard counter.
I have to disagree about reaper being a hard counter to Winton, he is a soft counter at best
That said in lower ranks where a winston might not think to just....avoid a duel with the reaper, then he suddenly becomes a hard counter lol
You have the mobility to not fight reaper at all and just long range him. Reaper will just end up spending more time shooting blanks or hitting the back line. He barely does anything to Winston now that Winston has range
Reaper only feels like a hard counter if you fight him face to face as a winston. Wintons can jump away or heck, even play around with the bubble if the jump is on cooldown.

It’d be like you saying “Brig doesn’t hard counter monkey” you can definitely play around a Brig and Winton can play around most of his counters but it’s still unfavorable. Torb is a “soft counter”

Like who should mercy be pocketing the worst player on their team going 4-4 or the best going 28-7? The best. So if a heroes being hard countered you’re enabling the weakest link to be weak for longer, why. Like if a DPS is feeding as mercy you don’t just hard commit to that. If this Winton was theoretically being punished by this reaper… They’re not, but if they were, you’d want to pocket the DP not Winton… Also hard pocketing the tank is never the correct decision, very situational when you wanna pocket a tank as Mercy. Like full charge, ultimates, etc.
I understand where you’re coming from, but a mercy pocket healing a Winston against a reaper is not doing anything, they’d be better off dmg amping the dps
