Do note that the buff from Okinaga's flame vent lasts only about 6 seconds, while the buff from the lazulite sacred flame lasts almost 20 seconds and allows you to deal chip damage to blocking enemies (as of patch 1.03)
note that is you use the flame vent to coat your sword, it will replace the divine confetti you applied beforehand. Same is true with the Purple shield, it overrides the confetti's effects.
@@tibberstehpup7116 it's been two weeks so I don't know if you've already found out but it's through a skill called 'Living Force' it is at the end of the Prosthetic Arts tree. So it costs quite a bit to get to but by the time you do, you will most definitely have at least the first iteration of flame vent. Just press the attack button after using the flame vent to coat your blade.
I just checked this and in fact the total damage of the lazu vent is higher than the okinaga vent even when you factor in the burning effect. Tested on Ministry soliders The only time both deal exactly the same damage is when you apply oil for the okinaga vent for the initial strike to become more powerful(still not as strong as lazu vent. The total damage for the initial strike plus the burning effect will deal the same damage dealt by lazu vent making it the best for general use. For enemiez who are afraid of fire you should still use the okinaga vent for the stun effect in which you can deal more total damage by doing extra hits
Fascinating! However, the BIG question is, what about Living Force? Will using regular flames deal more damage than lazulite flames against Ministry Soldiers?
@@testone6588 So I did more tests: 1- Monk: Lazu - dies with one charged atk Okinaga - ~20% health remains 2- Purple ninja Lazu - 5 charged atk to kill Okinaga - 6 charged atk to kill 3- dual sword monkey Lazu - does 15% total health dmg Okiaga - does 25% total health dmg witb burning status effect So it turns out that some enemies are indeed weaker to fire. Will keep testing and share my findings Note: all of these tests were done in NG+1
@@princeminato I really like the spear. It's engaging range is extremely usually for my play style. But then again to each their own good Sir. I still think the flame vent is the coolest tool.
@@princeminato nah dude, spear does tons of damage and stagger from a great distance. It's one of the better ways to deal with groups of enemies like with the rats on the roof in Ashina Castle, plus it's easily the best tool against Headless Ape and Shigekichi. It's one of my favorites after flame vent too.
It's interesting looking at the tools people like to use. I don't see many people say they use the shuriken most, which is my go to tool. I love that fact that you can follow the shuriken toss with an attack to quickly close gaps and keep pressure.

After the patch, the Living Flame buff on the Lazulite Sacred Flame upgrade lasts 20 seconds now instead of the previous 7 I'm too biased towards the purple fires that I didn't think to test the other flame vents if they got the same duration buff, but I read elsewhere that only the Lazulite Flame got the buff and the others still lasts the standard 7
I abused the hell out of this tool on my first run and my first run without Kuro's charm. I've gotten better but I still love it. Such a satisfying weapon.
Worth noting that almost any enemy that is set on fire becomes stunned. Unlike with the Firecrackers, this stun will last more than one hit on human enemies, allowing you to do considerable followup damage. Using the flaming sword buff followup attack and then setting the enemy on fire with a sword swing instead of the flame vent itself allows you to do the most damage possible during this window. Note that even if your attacks are blocked or parried, they still do fire damage and inflict burning.
Living Force stacks with Sugars! If you want to decimate a Headless instantly stack the Sacred Flame with an Ako's or Yashiriku's Sugar. Nice tip on how Burn damage nulls Posture recovery!
Spring load flame vent is divine. The buildup and range is so much greater than the base version that you can charge it up safely and it immediately puts Burn on most enemies. If not, then just put some oil on them first. I found it especially effective against lone shadows and samurai bosses.
Ya'll planning on doing one of these for the skills as well? I'm pretty sure a lotta folk will probably ultimately only ever stick with Ichimonji and it's upgrade, but I'm finding One Mind to be pretty sick. If you can stun your enemy with the slash-orb, even if they block the follow up they'll take an absolutely chunk of vitality damage, and their posture will be filled nearly as much as with Ichimonji.
Well with this one it's kinda clear that they all have a certian function to fill. Be smart and use them in diffrent situations to find what works best for you
@@gaaalavant If you're going to be fighting apparitions, you're better off with Malcontent (vs. Headless), Phoenix Lilac's Umbrella (vs. Shichimen Warrior), or Penetrating Sabimaru (vs. O'Rin of the Water) and stick with Divine Confetti for the sword buff.
my favorite tool in the game and its amazing with living force skill i use it all the time XD i just want them to make the buff last longer like the demo
You forgot to mention that the effect of fire and divine confetti given to the sword apply to the sword skills and for example you can deal damage to the Guardian Ape with the dragon slash from afar or just multiple fire slash to a burning enemy
huh didnt realize spring loaded flame vent was so much better. only ever used the base because i only needed that first blast didnt even realize 1 that it did more damage 2 how cool the charge attack is, it looks like it kicks ass
RIGHTEOUS!!! Sacred Flame time! great work Fextralife! I was always wondering if the sacred flame = divine confetti. I was hoping it would be so, but i didn't know for sure till now. This is great news (here i come NG+ headless). i didn't know enemies had a status effect bar but that makes so much sense, thanks for adding that in there, learned something new. :] If they continue to do changes/patches to the game, is there any way we could look forward to seeing a break down of patch notes on your channel?
Also worth noting is that the flame vent pairs really well with chaining a sword swing after the initial blast. If you have the Perk that allows you to coat your sword with the prosthetics element, you can get a ton of burn mileage out of the vent. Plus if you coat your sword with the blue flame, it has the exact same effect as divine confetti.

Okinaga flame vent does slightly more burn damage than other flame vents, and so when combined with oil there is a tendency to immediately get burn and then with living flame you can get a secondary burn out of enemies. This means you are dealing flamevent damage, burn damage, oil burn damage, plus room for several buffed sword hits with the two stuns you get. The result is that you can make a joke out of 3 phase genichiro by using like... 9 emblems. And this works on like every boss. Also, if you don't want to use oil, the living force can give you just enough pressure to get the burn status effect without any more spirit emblem cost, because flame attacks go through guard, so you get free damage, extra posture damage, and that fire status procts through guard. You pretty much always use living flame with normal dragons breath rather than the charged up flame. Charged flame blast pushes you too far away to get hits with your newly buffed sword, so you don't get as much out of it. The real strategic benefit is that it opens bosses up to high amounts of damage (up to like 50% or more on some bosses) at the beginning of a fight and prevents posture recovery, so posture damage done early doesn't recover and by the time you are done all your combo damage from relentlessly attacking, they are at low enough health that they don't have the ability to recover posture.

Living force has been so vital to my 1 attack power run. It provides such an important role in dealing damage. I love flame vent. It's up there against umbrella for being the most valuable tool in the game for me.
Okignaga is super OP when you hit them with the flame blast R2 and follow up with a R1. Bc it usually will light them up as well. So you get the initial blast damage the R1 damage and follow up fire sword damage. It melts people. Pun not intended.
I’m too lazy to go back through the video but I don’t think this was mentioned, the living force buff you get from the Lazulite Sacred Flame last a lot longer than the one for Okinagas Flame Vent, so when picking which one to use, keep in mind that Lazulite Sacred Flame gives a longer lasting buff
How about the damage of the red fire and the blue fire when you channel them to the sword? Are they the same to normal enemies (25% increase)? The duration of the flame seem to be buffed too so I think it is a good skill to use now.
I enjoy the videos of the tools. But ive also been curious on the effectiveness of using which tools with jumpong attacks. Cause I've noticed it differs between tools, could you maybe add a few seconds to add that to the video. Or maybe no one uses them lol, as they are tricky to use and time.
Mann i grinded so hard get the skill to coat ur sword wit fire .. Help wit the gun fort . sure itll help wit headless when get that last upgrade for flamevent
When you get to that point in game for Lazulite upgrades almost or all the appertation type enemies were dead for me so its kinda point less. Also it costs too much spirit emblems and so divine conffeti isn’t that rare and there is a farming spot for it and at the end game you can buy it from merchants.
That's a great video but, how do you get the Lazulite Flame Vent? I have been trying for a long time to get this one and I have all the ingredients but, the game says I haven't met all the requirements for this upgrade.
I disagree about living force. While you do need your attacks to connect, it makes setting things on fire very easy, and is probably the fastest way to kill drunkard enemies or the chained ogre. Really underrated skill
I "ran out" of flame barrel, but I have more than the 3 spirit emblems .... what do I need to do ? Get coin to buy more, or travel to somewhere to "regenerate" the emblemss ??
How do I make enough time for these tools to be usable? They take a lot to activate, and it messes up my entire rhythm. (I'm trying to use the tools suggested by the game against opponents supposedly weak to it, but seeing very little return with a lot of risk)
A surely wonder question for this specific tool i'd like to know... is that does it increase more Damage for the ( Initial Blast R2/Hold R2 ). Whenever i upgrade my Attack Power more higher ? Or is it just Flat Health % Damage against Enemies ? I'd like to know plz... cuz i know the Spear & Axe do more Dmg the more AP i have.
The Lazulite flame would be so much more useful if there were more useful if they're were more apparition type enemies in the game, not to mention by the time you get the Lazulite flame you would have killed off most of the very few apparition type enemies.
I intentionally saved them to use the lazulite flame on them... it may seem silly, but I'm a sucker for flames, and purple stuff. It was worth the wait.

I agree. I wish the very last upgrade tree let's the tools be the strongest upgrades as you need to play through the game at least twice to get them fully upgraded.

So basically lazulite flame + living force is a way to get divine confetti buff anytime you need for spirit emblems. Looks worth it to me.

I use this every time my divine confetti runs out. Plus the malcontent headless won't stand a chance.

I've also found that if you back a difficult enemy up to a ledge and hit them with a charged flame vent they can be thrown off the ledge.
I did this with a bunch of bosses only to find out it doesnt count as killing them

Sounds like basically Okinaga's is the best for normal enemies since it causes burn, but lazulite is best if you're fighting ghosts.

Everytime i used this i feel like I'm using the Strike Vent from Kamen Rider Ryuki or Dragon Knight.

Does a sacred flame covered sword do more damage than a normal flame covered sword?
To aparrition enemies yes, normal enemies use the red flame

A surely wonder question for this specific tool i'd like to know... is that does it increase more Damage for the ( Initial Blast R2/Hold R2 ). Whenever i upgrade my Attack Power more higher ? Or is it just Flat Health % Damage against Enemies ? I'd like to know plz... cuz i know the Spear & Axe do more Dmg the more AP i have.

The Lazulite flame would be so much more useful if there were more useful if they're were more apparition type enemies in the game, not to mention by the time you get the Lazulite flame you would have killed off most of the very few apparition type enemies.
Yeah, but it would still be cool if it could light enemies on fire with a scared flame
I intentionally saved them to use the lazulite flame on them... it may seem silly, but I'm a sucker for flames, and purple stuff. It was worth the wait.

Oil them up first before burning them. They will catch fire on the first try.

I agree. I wish the very last upgrade tree let's the tools be the strongest upgrades as you need to play through the game at least twice to get them fully upgraded.

@@Tybear-qz4bx not only that but there are very few aperation type enemies to begin with and they don't reset upon rest so it's only viable in those few battles Wich is complete waste because by the time you get this final upgrade your most likely to have already dealt with all those aperations
