The 9th string is officially one too many. Sounds way too muddy even with the perfect tone. There's basically no difference between the open string and the first few frets if anything else is going on in the mix.
@@Davix-tt9sh But at this point what does it provide that you don't already have in an 8-string, except short term novelty? Diminished playability of all the other strings, with no significant gain in terms of tonal choice given how low and heavy the 8th already is.
@@maximeb190 i'm honestly an 8 string guy, and i tune to EAEADGBE (occasionally go down half step). The c# sounds great in After the Burial songs, and they used to tune to c#A#D#G#C#F#A#D#. Loathe also tunes to C#AED on the lowest strings so you can tune an 8 to C#AEADGBe and have the range of a 9 without the extra inconvenience of an extra string. The c# sounds Cool tho
