Diamondbolt has a secret character in his video named “Greg”. Greg appeared in his videos, greg was a skeleton always saying his famous catchphrase “it’s all skin and bonez”.
I know him. I actually know Diamondbolt IRL (he was the best man at my wedding) and I asked him if Greg was a real character, and he just seemed unusually upset.

Some say if you watch every single Diamondbolt video 5149 times in a row, Greg will appear.

The hanging munchkin was ACTUALLY created to be a hoax.
In the original movie, there was a crane in the background.
Somebody edited a blurry hanging munchkin into the background on top of the crane.
In the Hanging Munchkin video, you can actually still SEE the crane's wing a little bit.
And boom, hoax created. Love the video, DiamondBolt!
It bothers me how many people still actually think the hanging munhkin is legit

Gotta love pre-2000s VG hoaxes, back when the internet was still in its infancy, game magazine BS articles were treated as gospel, playground gossip on Mew under the truck was the hottest news, and videogames were treated like a whole other dimension.

One of the best parts about the Nier church thing is that Yoko Taro was asked about the whole thing back when it was still ongoing and he ended up giving a vague enough response as if to play along and got people even more convinced it was legit.

hoaxes originally were just lies or farces meant to trick multiple people, kinda like a chain letter with only one author and everyone is the target, as far as i can describe it

Having legit nostalgia for the Wario apparition and all the personalization myths about SM64. To think that it emerged at the same time as the Gigaleak that revealed Luigi and the decompilation made that time a proper SM64 renaissance. And the insane Speedrun scene was already booming much earlier too.
Sadly, it lost it's charm when people milked it to death

The ‘maybe he had v1.0 and it never updated’ is a fair possibility to consider, considering a bunch of glitches and other weird details have been found due to that, my favorite example being a completely unheard of alternate ending to the most recent tomb raider game, which was changed in the day 1 patch
What I found funny about the luigi and yoshi hoaxes on the pokemon games, is that the method to evolve them is nowhere near as convoluted and annoying to do than a lot of the ones we got after gen 8 💀

10:59 the funny thing about this is that later on in Pokémon X and Y they actually had a Pokémon where you needed to turn your system upside down to evolve it. I am of course referring to the process of evolving Inkay into Malimar

Fun fact: Slender Man was supposed to appear in Diamondbolt's last video, but the devs cut his appearance at the last minute. If you look in the code, you can find his model and animations.
Last year, there was a whole event in the Monster Hunter community where what was long considered a real detail turned out to be a hoax. Or maybe more rumor? idk
Long story short, it was thought that the monster Deviljho was capable of eating his own severed tail. Deviljho is known for his gluttony, so this would make perfect sense. Then, all of a sudden, we realized there wasn't actually any footage of him eating his tail. Any footage that claimed he did, there was a piece of meat placed under the tail that he was eating instead. After weeks of people trying to see if they could get legit footage, nothing turned up (except maybe a few more fakes). And just like that, the entire fanbase was left bamboozled.
You should make a vid about "hoaxes" that ended up being completely true, like Missingno or The Freezer from Saints Row.
Even if the hoaxes are fake AF, they're still interesting to look back on

Waluigi Mario 64 DS is one of the most interesting ones. Like, both Mario 64 and Mario 64 DS had a rumor of a playable character with Luigi in the name and both were false but we have evidence of them being there pre release(the Super Leaks for M64 and a Purple Bunny in the instructions for M64 DS)

during YIIK A Post Modern RPG's initial release, the devs teased about a secret ending that no one could ever find, and indeed no one could find because none of the map/dialog data for it is in the game, the only video of it is a fake ARG-type stuff in a dev account where he clearly used debug to max out his stats and film himself beating this ending.
Since then they've been teasing an update to YIIK that would expand/polish the story and they hinted that they might put the ending in the game after all

Man I remember following the nier hoax so closely as it was coming out. Constantly shifting between, "this has to be fake", "is Yoko Taro fucking with us", or "okay but like...what if". It was a fun few days joking with my friend about it.
