He absolutely killed it in Manchester last week
"its soundsystem music im dealing with"
he is the fucking man...
Pure intellect. Let it not get diluted as we move through a new generation.
Cheers man! Love this one
I really do have endless respect for Mala..
Isn't he ONE THIRD of Digital Mystikz? Lovely interview series, don't mean to pick faults.. keep it up, one of the best things on TH-cam.
Much love and respect to Mala each and every! Always a pleasure listening to the legend that is Mala with his words but it seems that every interview they have with him is the same thing in regards to questions! I knew almost everything he was gonna say with the questions given to him lol. There's need to be a better interview with more questions like production for example. Much love to Mala though!!
What a contrast of personalities between Raz and Mala.
Sorry to hear about the migraines Raz, they definitely suck. Good interview w/Mala btw, it's good to hear about music artists (electronic & otherwise) helping youth out (Mala with CYDT reminded me of Mike Huckaby{ a good interview subject hint, hint ;) } teaching Reaktor & Ableton at a Community Centre to Detroit youth. Kudos to U Raz.
DMZ - Haunted (first song). Thumbs up so everyone can listen to this dubstep classic and make the kids stop listening to skrillex!!!!!!!11!
Proper OG
You did help! I found it thanks to you, I just think it sounds more like the original.
man is an Icon
the new mala made in cuba,,,,so good, that all i can say!
9:30 "Look beyond the format", I've been debating if I should continue to stick to using the mixing-sofwtare *Mixxx* or use *other ones* considering my DDJ-SB2 is made for serato (or vice versa.. idk). I'm now sticking to my gut saying- just because Mixxx doesn't have the best pitch-bending performance that can match the response of a vinyl record...I've learned to make great use of its literal controls (e.g. loading a track doesn't automatically set the cue to monitor that side of the deck for you).
So my way of defeating pitch bend is to use the filters to lower the volume a bit to match the beat up and then slowly bring it back up appropriately.
I respect Mala, and DUBSPOT has been doing great interviews with me beginning w/ Hatcha's. What I love about it the most is us being able to really tune into what the speaker is saying (no questions check'd-done)
If you need help regarding mixing-softwares let me know because I've had quite the experience dealing with most of the choices out there. I'm personally just more fond of Open-Sourced decisions, so that's why I use *Mixxx* -- Heck, it even works for my free netbook (just disable waveforms to avoid any slow-down, I no longer use them anyways as I just need the playback abilities obviously).
BE FANS OF THE MUSIC, KNOW YOUR MUSIC FIRST.
Exactly! A good DJ should never be determined by the equipment or program he uses, it should simply be mixing skills, track selection, and any extra flair you can bring to the table. That's what people listening are going to enjoy and notice
Keep doing what works for you bro! I used the SB2 for a couple years to learn and really grow as a DJ and it was a solid board
damn now i have to listen to some mala tracks again
a true legend.
thankyou mate
No. Club Event & Label/Group (Coki, Mala, Sgt Pokes, Loefah). The Duo is Digital Mystikz.
I would lose my shit if i was speaking to Mala and would need huge sunglasses to keep my cool.
killer interview
Mala is as London as they come innit fam
such a top spirit
Raz Mesinai AKA Badawi guys, I think some of you might not showing due respect to the guy, he's a legend as well in the low frequencies fields, go research you'll see !
he always looks like he has a MASSIVE hangover!
nice video !!
Kahn - Way Mi Defend
great producer, lot's of love. i'm gonna eat some lungs bread and then begin my everyday activities.
yes that`s true but I didn`t know the original so I was telling you about what i know.anyway glad that I could help:)
I`ve remembered that from Kromestar.I was tryin` to help.
Mala - unexpected
whats the tune at around 3:31?
Mala is king! I didn't Know he got his inspiration of the Jungle Scene!
Get wild on them breaks of the Jungle. Junglist massive!
Than smoke a spliff and relax get yourself a nice girl with Smooth Dubstep. DMZ!
Anyone know name of the reggae song at 01:52 ??? much respect for Mala from Czech Republic!
ah so frustrated if anyone could share with me the beat that kicks in at 2:18 would greatly appreciate it!
DMZ is the label, Haunted is by Digital Mystikz
actually dmz was a label too for a short time. Anti War Dub was released by them
King Tubby meets Rockers Uptown by Agustus Pablo
how did you guys get MALA
Digital Mystikz - Haunted
tru
tune at 1:52?
"Kromestar Baby I love you" a remix.Search on YT
raz looks like steven wright..haha half baked the guy on the couch
I searched for it and it honestly sounds like the original by Jacob Miller, not the remix.
And Sgt Pokes is Damien.
think he's on the hangover vibe..
where is coki?
He wore them while talking to Mary Anne Hobbs as well. seriously...
oshi
Get that man some windshield wipers for those shades
as do machas
his brother from another mother ... 00:16
I agree, it is disrespectful. Maybe the interviewer has a visual impairment. That style of sunglasses are popular among the blind and elderly.
mad love, but yo y'all misspelled pivotal.
i would feel bad for these guys of they got thier dreads stuck in one of the turntables
"my brother from another mother" yeah you wish mate...
Still wrong. I will repeat: DMZ is a club event, not the night club, as well as the label and crew involving Digital Mystiks (Coki & Mala), Loefah, and Sgt Pokes. Just Coki & Mala = Digital Mystikz.
he 'obviously' emigrated...maybe he's 2nd generation. im sure he was born in london and grew up there. and just cos he has dreads dont mean he's a rastaman
Your Eyez record has a pretty bad scratch
Jesus Christ son, I ment DMZ as a shortening. You are aware that it's used that way too? Don't need to go all smart ass on me bro.
140bpm not dubstep
probably embarrassed about his disgustingly hungover/stoned eyes
dmz released loads of tunes. Need proof? Go to Chemical Records and type in dmz. There you go, now facepalm yourself fool.
Those glasses are hideous
Kahn - Way Mi Defend
Badmon, opens up Dub War 5th Birthday with KING TUBBY MEETS THE ROCKERS UPTOWN!! Classic deep dub Don! Bless up the Mala.
