I sung this to my kids a while ago and yesturday they started singing this in a B&Q garden out of nowhere!! Me and my wife were red faced in embarrassment. Another shopper said wow thats a blast from the past. My wife looked at me and shook her head and told me this was my doing LOL.
Classic advert, have not seen it in years but it is exactly as I remember it. Something about it never leaves your brain. Gino Ginelli and his catchy little jingle will be with me for life.
God forbid your name being Gino and living in the UK. There has not been one drunken night in which I haven’t had this tune being shouted at in my ear. 😂
I used to have that bloody song going round my head as a teenager and now it'll be doing it again! They don't even make Gino Ginelli ice cream anymore do they?
I showed this advert to my Italian friend in college. Don't think I ever heard him laugh that silly before. He later told me that they have much better ice cream in Italy.
I’m aware Wall’s ice cream is a division of Bird’s Eye (both are owned by - known at the time - as ‘Lever’). Getting to the point, I’m aware Gino Ginelli ice cream was discontinued (at least in the UK) in 1996 (especially post-August) [it was definitely history by 1997], when it was replaced with Carte D’or. idk, though, if that was a good enough reason for Gino Ginelli to be discontinued. Yes, I can see all the beyond delicious flavours, at the end of the advert (as well as mint choc chip) - choc and nut, toffee fudge and tutti-frutti. People keep getting rid of the good things, rather than what they really should be getting rid of (heck, even if, hypothetically, this and Carte D’or co-existed, especially in the UK, I’d see it as we’d have a hard decision as to what would be the nicer of the two; I still wish this wasn’t taken off, even if Carte D’or was brought out, in 1996). I reiterate - that reason wasn’t a good enough one, for our beloved Gino Ginelli ice cream to be taken off (at least the UK) market.
Apparently, Gino Ginelli ice cream still exists in South Africa and in Ibiza. I looked it up on Google yesterday. It's true! You have to take your holidays there if you want your fix of Gino Ginelli ice cream now. Wall's discontinued the brand in 1996 because they saw how another ice cream brand, Carte D'or was popular in France and they wanted to introduce that ice cream to Britain. So they discontinued Gino Ginelli because they couldn't afford to have two luxury ice creams in supermarkets.
I REALLY miss Gino Ginelli ice cream. I used to love putting loads of toffee and fudge and mint choc chip (that actually had crunchy bits in it) in a massive bowl and eat it all. made myself ill a good few times but it was bloody fantastic. I want it back dammit! i wonder if theres a petition or something to get it remade here in the uk. Whilst i'm at it i'm gonna get Romantica back too, that thing rocked. Lord knows why they stopped making it. You guys with me?
oh.my.god.what an advert lol.i never had this ice cream EVER.always wanted to try tutti frutti but never did.by the time i was old enough to buy my own,i think they took it off the shelves!
Wow I'd forgotten all about Gino Ginelli icecream! I seem to remember it had a slightly strange texture? I could never put my finger on it but its coming back to me now lol
The line that used to crack me up from these adverts was "in a room it creates a party" as a kid I thought Really?! If people see Italian Ice cream in a room they randomly start partying?! Ah the 90's were fun
Is this the original song, it's not how I remember the first half. The second half sounds a but more familiar. This advert was stuck in my head when I was a kid.
Hahaha, me too. I was allowed to have a speck of Tutti Frutti (*what a cutie!*) once, but otherwise it was the special mom and guests ice cream. I keep pissing myself laughing at the last 7 seconds. Aside from the main hook which I used to sing when I was younger, 'the ice cream sensation' - like Gino was a renowned ice cream man! Haha.
Oh my god . . . my boyfriend brought this advert's annoying song up whilst we were walking down the promenade in Scarborough this week!! They all look really nice . . . but weren't they in technicolour/full of additives and send kids hyper!?
Don't you love the way they HAD to put "Made in England" at the end. Evidently the advertising standards agency put the boot in. "So, its not Italian, has no Italian ingredients, wasn't made in Italy and Walls has no Italian employees and is being investigated by the racial equalities commision for this very thing? I think we need a big ol' made in england at the end. Possibly the beginning too" .
I had this tune stuck in my head today for no apparent reason and I haven't even seen this ad in over 20 years lol.
+peloquin HA! Just happened to me too!
Same here, why today I have no idea!
Same here! How bizarre!
same
Same, just the last few seconds of the video though lol
I sung this to my kids a while ago and yesturday they started singing this in a B&Q garden out of nowhere!! Me and my wife were red faced in embarrassment. Another shopper said wow thats a blast from the past. My wife looked at me and shook her head and told me this was my doing LOL.
+Glen Greeney blue166 I read it as "Another stripper" for asecond.
Haha. Brilliant
You should probably have sung them "You Can Do It When You B&Q It" instead
Brilliant work haha
This has been my brain's _'screen saver'_ for a long, long, *long* time!!
Lol, the line "tutti frutti what a cutey" has stayed in my head for 18 years.
likewise
Me too cos it irritated the bejaysus outta me and still does
You and me both Terry!
Classic advert, have not seen it in years but it is exactly as I remember it. Something about it never leaves your brain. Gino Ginelli and his catchy little jingle will be with me for life.
Love the fact that it said 'Made in the UK' at the end lol
Just like Dolmio ('It brings out the Italian in you!') - MADE IN HOLLAND.
Birra Morretti the so called 'l'autentica italiana' beer is also brewed in the UK, not Italy.
@@stephenmcconnell1000 lmao
Yes! Gino Ginelli was about as Italian as Marmite! 🤣😂🤣😂
Classic isn't it?! 😂🤣😂🤣
I've been singing this song for 26 years since I last watched it. Now I've seen it again!
Cat 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🙀🙀🙀🙀
Same
God forbid your name being Gino and living in the UK. There has not been one drunken night in which I haven’t had this tune being shouted at in my ear. 😂
My Dad used to sing 'Gino Ginelli's got spots on his belly'. God rest his soul. Oh the 90s *sigh* 😂
You know where to come...
My name is Gino. I was but 10 years old when this ad was popular.
Take one frigging guess what I had sang to me for years after...
Could have been this if you were born earlier, different spelling but sounds the same :) th-cam.com/video/RQO2wEJefjM/w-d-xo.html
I remember seeing this commercial in 1989/90, not from 1994.
i am italian, and i find this epic!
I'm epic and I find this italian
🤌🤌🤌
Yet another retro tv ad that has a tune which is firmly lodged in me old brain box!
Classic!
I don't know why but I'm in tears from that comment!!! So fucking funny!!!!!

The musical arrangement is class! It's like Miami Sound Machine.
Anyone else find teh fact that it's sung in an Italian Accent, Italy is emphasised and at the very end.... MADE IN UK!
Apparently, Gino Ginelli ice cream still exists in South Africa and in Ibiza. I looked it up on Google yesterday. It's true! You have to take your holidays there if you want your fix of Gino Ginelli ice cream now.

This was the epitome of all-things Italian when I was a kid. ha!
Gino Ginelli were the Ben and Jerrys of their time. In a sort of Shakin Stevens was the UK's Elvis kind of frame.
Jesus that takes me back. What a great ice cream we used to feel all continental eating this
Italian verve! 🤣
I used one of my mums old gino ginelli tubs for my packed lunch box at school (we were pretty hard up back then) lol
Luxury!!!The best we could manage back then was to wrap our lunch in old discarded newspapers.
The 'Made in the UK' text is so they didn't get sued under consumer law, I guess.
This tune stays in my head like a crap screensaver. This and, "I'd rather have a bowl of coco pops"
That looks more like about 1988 and the music sounds like it's from about that time as well.
this introduced me to the concept of Italy as a kid. lol.
I REALLY miss Gino Ginelli ice cream. I used to love putting loads of toffee and fudge and mint choc chip (that actually had crunchy bits in it) in a massive bowl and eat it all. made myself ill a good few times but it was bloody fantastic.

Yep, I remeber this ad from when I started school so it's defo around 1989!
This looks a teeny bit older than 1994.
This takes me back though.
"Tutti Frutti oh what a cutey"......!!!! hahaha, what a class line!
Oh my gosh I remember this, and also Orangina for some weird reason. Reminds me of when I was 4 or 5 and it was a really hot summer. Ah memories...
i loved this ice cream can't seem to find it anymore
I miss this ad!
If I recall correctly they also made Gino Ginelli Pizza's for awhile
Cor! Bring back Gino Ginelli, please. Gino Ginelli was the Ben 'n' Jerry's of its day, only better! :D
My dad used to sing gino adelly to me 😂😂😂
I loved this ice cream as a kid and remember the colour changing spoon you got with it
Nostalgia :)
I miss the 90s.
this made me melt a little inside
Brings back memories of my childhood . I used to sing along to the advert. lol ah children
oh.my.god.what an advert lol.i never had this ice cream EVER.always wanted to try tutti frutti but never did.by the time i was old enough to buy my own,i think they took it off the shelves!
I love that ice cream. Can't wait to try it again!!
Oh gosh I remember this advert
I love the gino ginelli ice cream to bits. I would find it very hard to resist if I go near
This just popped into my head. Isn't the brain a curious device.
Some one said "mint-choc-chip" and I had to come here to stop me singing "tutti frutti".
Wow I'd forgotten all about Gino Ginelli icecream! I seem to remember it had a slightly strange texture? I could never put my finger on it but its coming back to me now lol
Hehe! I used to sing this song all the time!
I loved the gino ginelli ice cream
Same adverts were used for HB Hazel brook farm in Ireland as we remember.
Lovely ice-cream
The line that used to crack me up from these adverts was "in a room it creates a party" as a kid I thought Really?! If people see Italian Ice cream in a room they randomly start partying?! Ah the 90's were fun
Tutti Frutti what a Cutie...!
Is this the original song, it's not how I remember the first half. The second half sounds a but more familiar. This advert was stuck in my head when I was a kid.
You’re right, it’s not. From what I remember it was trumpet music with the line ‘only Italy could inspire such stylish ice cream’
We gonna let the comet line slide?
Who checked this video out after hearing it on Celebrity Jungle 2023? 🤣
Lol Love the made in the UK logo at the end. But ye Loved this tune and avert. So retro!
I remember everyone selling tutti fruity ice cream in the 80's and early 90's. I've not seen it for years now.
I could swear this advert wasn’t made in 1988?
You may be right. I recall seeing this ad around 1989/90. Observing the fashion and hairstyles of this ad it's obvious this is not from 1994!
bring back gino ginelli!
@RabidRaccoonUK I know - Thorntons used to sell it aswell in their icecream stands in the shops. Havent seen it for along time now.
A boy in my class is called Gino, needless to say he gets the song every time I see him. He's Thai 😂 Toffee fudge was the best!
Haha.
Wow the tutti frutti one takes me back!
SIMPLY EPIC
YES!
Tutti Frutti, what a cutie!
TOFFEE FOOGIE!!!
Mmmmm. I love gino ginelli ice cream.

Tom Campbells TEW stream brought me here!!
I used to love the mint choc chip flavour!
Damn right mate! I've written down the lyrics so I can sing it to my mates lol
What happened to Gino Ginelli?
the taste was great
Hhaha I'm named after Gino GinelliXD
So was this advert playing on the TV a lot while you were being conceived? #lol #TMI
Thumbs-up if *_Lethal Weapon S01E02_* brought you here... (Gino Corelli...)
I remember this being my Mums ice cream ONLY and being out of bounds :(
The taste of Italy says the ad but the smallprint at the end says made in UK! XD Would explain why the product itself was pish.
Tutti Fruity! Forgot about that one. It was rank lol.
Hahahahahahahaha. That is funny!
It was not Italian as it was made by 'Walls' plus it even says it in the the ad
yes, from the capo di tutti frutti!
I miss Tutti Fruiti; where the hell do you get this flavour ice cream from?
Italian Verve!
0:12 That bloke just doesn't fit in with this advert.
Another product that has been discontinued for a long time
I think Gino Ginelli is now Carte Dor
Oh my god . . . my boyfriend brought this advert's annoying song up whilst we were walking down the promenade in Scarborough this week!! They all look really nice . . . but weren't they in technicolour/full of additives and send kids hyper!?
Can you still get Tutti Frutti?
wine gums add is back though
lol i told my italian girlfreind about this and she was weting herself.... tutti frutti! LOL!!
It says: "Made in U.K."
Believe it or not, England is not the only nation in the U.K. neither is it the centre of the universe.
italian VERVE!
Wrestle Me brought me here
Think it was this ice cream you got a free colour changing plastic spoon
