    On the Pretty Intense podcast today is Sadhguru who is a pretty intensely spiritual man. Sadhguru is a renowned speaker, a best-selling author, and founder of the Isha Foundation, whose mission is to raise human consciousness through individual transformation, focusing on human empowerment and social revitalization. For any of you out there doing some spiritual diving, you no doubt have come across Sadhguru. This was a true honor to speak to him. His wisdom is wide and deep, and he’s also very playful and fun. He has a real true understanding of the human experience, and how to essentially escape karma. This is what we talked about most. How memory affects us, and ways to make peace with it. Leaving that bag of Karma behind, to allow ourselves a more joyful life. Make sure to grab his new book " Karma - A Yogi's guide to crafting your destiny."
    ====
    Sadhguru is a yogi, mystic and visionary. Named one of India’s 50 most influential people, Sadhguru’s work has touched the lives of millions worldwide through his transformational programs. Sadhguru has a unique ability to make the ancient yogic sciences relevant to contemporary minds. His approach does not ascribe to any belief system, but offers methods for self-transformation that are both proven and powerful.
    An internationally renowned speaker and author of the New York Times Bestsellers Inner
    Engineering, A Yogi’s Guide to Joy, and Karma, A Yogi’s Guide to Crafting Your Destiny, Sadhguru has been an influential voice at major global forums including the United Nations and the World Economic Forum, addressing issues as diverse as socioeconomic development, leadership and spirituality. He has also been invited to speak at leading educational institutions, including Oxford, London Business School, IMD, Stanford, Harvard, Yale, Wharton and MIT. In February 2017, Sadhguru was the recipient of the Padma Vibhushan Award by the Government of India, the highest annual civilian award, accorded for exceptional and distinguished service.
    Dedicated to the physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing of humanity and gifted with utter clarity of perception, Sadhguru possesses a perspective on life that never fails to intrigue, challenge and surprise all those he encounters.

      He is a fraud. He constructed his ashram amidst a wildlife sanctuary near Coimbatore in India driving all wildlife out of there. He will do anything for money. He disguises himself as a spiritual person while spreading the hindutva philosophy colluding with the present indian government. His teachings are unscientific and unsound.

    I've been critical of sadguru for so long, damn. This saint of a man is targeted so much in southern India because of the challenges he poses to "christo-islamic conversion mafia".
    Thankfully I had the sense to read primary sources for myself instead of going completely by the narrative set by these mafias, and it saved me. Not a big follower but I don't have a problem with him anymore.

      he just called it a memory and took it past the time ...he would have taken it past to previous lives and called it a karmic memory...however, you are not only suffering from your memory. Many people worry about the future and that's not a memory but an entire thought process. What matters is that as humans we should try to stay in the present moment, no matter how good or bad it is. As humans, we think a lot because we have big brains... many animals don't have time to think ... they reflect and react to the situation. life is a journey..experience it..

    When I was 7 years old I ask my Indian Grandfather a profound question to which he replied.
    Q- Why death scares us, Nana?
    A- Because if you think you're wave you will always fear to be crushed under it, splashed onto shore, or eaten by big waves. But if you just realise the truth that you're water in which the waves come to existence, that your reality is not wave but water and realise you're the immortal one, you will never suffer. Unification with cosmos is the only way to not suffer.
    I didn't understood him until later when I saw smile on his dead body.

    I sat with this man for 3 weeks, for 3 hours a day. He was not well known in the US. He did not go by the moniker, Sadhguru. He asked us to call him by his name, Jaggi. He spoke a little quieter. His English was good, but he was not as fluent or worldly. He seems more "famous" and "charming" now. Nonetheless, he was a special person. There was no doubt. I was fortunate enough to talk to him personally and felt no anxiety whatsoever. From that point, I began meditation, ate uncooked, fresh food, for the most part, but made my own bread. After a couple of years, my contemplative life faded. I lived alone, my mother died, and I just drifted. I wish I could recapture.

    18:15 It's useful to understand karma from a psychological perspective. When you perform an action, you're constructing and strengthening a "mental schema" (a mental pattern) that will make you more prone to repeating that behavior in the future. In practice, this means for example that the more you perform a selfish action, the more prone you are to acting selfishly in the future, and the more selfish you are, the more consequences it has for your life.
    Karma emphasizes that no action happens in isolation. Previous actions are always affecting your future actions, and your personal actions are always affecting other people's actions and vice versa. Therefore, karma isn't merely some mystical force that punishes you for bad behavior. Instead, it simply describes how the conditioning of behavioral patterns affects the outcome of your life. Karma is therefore perfectly compatible with a scientific understanding of reality.

      Karma pre-programs everything in this life just like a script for a movie. It pre-programs a person's character (or gunas), situation, circumstances and opportunities. It also pre-programs date and mode of death. Free will is very limited in creating new likes and dislikes based on the experiences of the current life. It leads to new karma which goes to our future lives since Karma works on the principle of delayed causation.

    14 minutes in I must say, Danica's way of conducting a interview is so refreshing. She is actually listening and asking relevant questions. A lot of other interviewers ask pre-meditated questions and rarely follow up on a question, instead ask questions that he's already answered to some respect.
