Agreed. I think there aren't a lot of quarterbacks that can play under Whittingham due to his risk averse style. Cam fit well because he didn't care what Whittingham said about turning the ball over, he would just make plays. Isaac doesn't have that same IT factor to play for Whittingham that Cam did. He pump fakes every throw and is too hesitant to make decisions between running and throwing the ball.

They aren’t playing to our strengths Wilson is good enough and Money and Singer and Micah are phenomenal which should improve Wilson’s performance but they don’t play to it and they don’t adjust our O Line to create better holes for Micah so he’s always has to pick up the slack and get tired. Funny that the attitude was met with colossal failure that no one could have predicted. Tragic that injuries precipitated the fall that has come at the personal expense of Cam Rising. Ludwig was a great OC until he wasn't. Four appearances in the Pac12 championship, 2 wins with the other two losses because of no offense. Ludwig's offense was consistently inconsistent, either firing on all cylinders or took 2 quarters to do anything. Ready for something new.
Don’t forget Kyle’s 9 offensive coordinators in 9 years not so long ago. All with similar offensive troubles we’re seeing now. The same constant throughout is Kyle Whittingham. Can't blame Ludwig. He did well before, but with Rising injured what could he do. Wilson is not ready, and maybe never will be. Utah couldn't get a top transfer QB because Rising was returning.
Offensive coordinators don't just step down on their own, in the middle of a season, when things are going well. It's clear that Utah couldn't continue with the same offensive plan each game and expect different results from what they were already getting. Utah is 108th in the country in points per game. We can't throw, we aren't dynamic in the run game, we can't score in the redzone (if we even get there at all). Our offense isn't and hasn't been working. Ludwig and Whittingham talked about it, and Ludwig decided to remove himself from the equation. Whittingham probably didn't try to talk him out of it. When alumni with deep pockets are mad...when fans buying tickets and merchandise are mad...when recruits (and probably current players) are questioning the program...you have to make changes. Ludwig knows this and took the soft way out. The other option was to refuse and then be fired in a game or two anyway. It's speculation, but it's far more likely to have happened that way instead of Ludwig randomly deciding midseason to leave because everything was hunky-dory (because it wasn't).

How much of Ludwig down has to do with missing on Jerome Miles? At some point we need a OC that is more passing focused and we are able to land top tier recruits in Utah. A two back offense so defenses can't key on just one back. This worked well for the N.O. Saints the first 2.5 games before Tayson Hill got injured.
We'd put in Sam Huard who has experience but the play book was "too complicated" for a new transfer to learn. So something has to give.
