Full disclaimer I’m a Knights fan. Good show and fair assessment of the Knights. UCF will be looking for payback on the Bowl beat down we got last time the teams met so there is that little extra motivation. In my opinion what BYU has to worry about is the likelihood that UCF is working on improving their passing game with high reps with new QB and WRs. It’s often a timing and communication. At some point when BYU is crashing the line to stop the run some teams are going to get beat. It’s a matter of time. Is this the game? Good luck and safe travels! GO KNIGHTS

Our defense is phenomenal against the pass. Our defense is pretty good against the run.
If you try to switch to passing, that's honestly going to work in our favor-That's trying to beat us where we're strong.
I think we're ranked 6th in pass defense, and we create a lot of interceptions, but we're 18th and run defense. UCF is ranked I think 4th run offense.
You'll do better if you run the ball.
      If you pass, BYU wins.
If you run, I think UCF wins.

is the 2020 boca raton REALLY a valid motivator for the game this weekend? is there anyone involved with UCF that was even there in 2020? maybe a few seniors who stuck around for a 5th or 6th year?

Jake Retzlaff said that UCF is the best team in the nation that has a 3-4 record. I would go so far as to say they are the best team that currently has a losing record. As a BYU fan, I am very nervous about this game--way more than I was against Oklahoma State, or Arizona, or Baylor.

what are you worried about? jake's (as well as everyone else's connected to the program) comments should assure you that BYU is taking this game VERY seriously and will have prepared and planned accordingly. also, i want to point out, the fans' level of consternation specifically has no bearing on the game. lucky for BYU, with how little faith the fanbase has in this team.

BYU wins with one interception and one fumble. If they give up the ball and don´t win the turnover battle it could be trouble.

that's almost universally true. in basically all football games when teams are relatively evenly matched, the team who wins the TO battle, wins the game.

what about this BYU football team or this specific game suggests to you that BYU hasn't prepared with the same intensity, completion, and creativity that they have for every other game on the schedule this year? and maybe i don't understand your meaning when you say it's a "trap." for me a trap game is a game where the favorite UNDER-prepares or UNDER-estimates, or UNDER-values the opponent or situation. I'm not guaranteeing a win, cuz shit happens and you always gotta play the games, but there isn't one drop of evidence that BYU isn't coming into this game with absolute focus and preparation. and honestly, they're probably even MORE prepared than usual considering how well UCF has been playing AND how this game has specifically been one of the most noteworthy on the schedule since day one.

Fair analysis of the BYU, UCF matchup…I’m still surprised that UCF is favored, given the records and the fact BYU is on a 7-0 roll…UCF is obviously a better team than their record, so if they play up to their talent and BYU falters, it could be an interesting game…I still think BYU wins by 1 TD.

Hopefully, once the euphoria of a comeback win on Friday night wore off, byu realized that they can’t look past anyone in the big 12. Everyone had written off Oklahoma State, and it nearly cost byu dearly. All that hype about byu playing at home, in front of a huge crowd and at night. And Oklahoma state played their best game of the season. UCF is no pushover, and they nearly won on the road against Iowa state. You are playing in a big boy division now, and you need to come out ready to play every week or one of these teams is going to take a bite out of you.

BYU didn't need last friday to know they can't look past anyone in the BIG12. that game wasn't close because anyone at BYU "had written off Oklahoma State. this BYU football team has been completely focused all season dude. it's crazy that BYU fans still don't believe in this team's effort and commitment. week after week after week they prepare and plan and train and rep and execute effectively... yet the fans still think they're just out here to mess around.

@@markbaileycimarron-memoria3446 that would be from YEARS of experience. BYU has a tendency to get huge wins against top 10 opponents, only to get cocky and lose to teams like UTEP. I can still remember things like byu celebrating Ty detmer winning the heisman trophy, only for byu to get absolutely destroyed by Hawaii the very next day.
Sorry man. I love the cougars, but I’ve had enough experience to know to stay cautiously optimistic.

With the development of "down the chart" running backs while Martin and Lopati recuperate, why have we not seen ANYTHING from that depth since the return? We lauded the depth and capability down roster, and that depth is languishing on the bench.
Same goes for utilizing the tight ends.

@@LarryOwens-g8b - apparently you have never been to Provo. This time of year, humidity is comparable. UCF is barely above sea level so BYU athletes coming down from 4,670 feet in elevation are naturally doped by 13.4% more O2 in the air they breath. The flight is two days before the game, will not be a factor. Traveling west is much more difficult than traveling east, especially for night games.
