I’m more excited about Wyatt Becker and Jamarian Ficklin coming in with the new recruits than I’m about Isaac Wilson returning. Isaac tested the transfer portal couldn’t even get scholarship offer to BYU-wonder why? I think his future will be very Tate Martell like.

Let’s be honest! After the year Isaac Wilson had, he hit the portal and nobody really wanted him.

Carson Ryan does not fit into becks offense. Tightends are not prominent in the new offense. Carson is from American Fork so BYU sets up for his family to watch.

As far as 18 players in Portal, everyone realizes that all rosters have to be paired down to 105. So most teams have 120 - 130 players which means there will be a large number of players from every team eventually.

With the season that was, players ‘jumping into the portal’ is to be expected. Could it also be that some players are leaving because they were told that there isn’t enough of an upside for them and were essentially told to leave?

All valid points about the playoffs. However if BYU and Colorado would handled business against Kansas and teams handled business against Texas Tech there was a much better chance to get two, maybe three teams in the playoff. Same issues that the Pac12 had. Teams that should win must win.

With all his playing last year he could come in, in case of emergency if the starter goes down,. Utah has shown they need a lot of QB's, using all 5 QBS last season. How weird would it be if Nate Johnson comes back also? Maybe at another position, not QB. Looks like players are finding out the grass isn't greener somewhere else.

Utah picked up AAC FoTY WR Joseph Williams from Tulsa. Possibly the Utes WR1 next year at 6'2", 195lbs. The pieces are coming into place. GO UTES!

Do you think Isiah Garcia will have a spot on the line this year? Feels like with fano and lomu if we could pick up another stud interior lineman the line could be very solid this year.

Apparently BYU didn’t offer Issac any NIL incentive. They told him he was welcome to walk on, but he was unlikely to see any playing time.

Coming in as a qb or an athlete?? Really, QBs are not athletes I guess. Just keep bringing back Rising, yeah good plan, rebuild that house with rotten wood, should go far next year. I’m excited to have Isaac back. He’s got tons of arm talent, can run capably, and has a great personality and attitude. There’s a reason he was a 4 star recruit. He just needs a year or two to develop. I also hope they bring back Nate Johnson as a QB3 and receiver. Can you imagine the QB throwback play run by Nate to Dampier??

I wanted for Wilson to go to BYU. wonder what happened when he talked with them? Maybe he was offered more NIL here in Utah. For some reason, he thinks Utah is better even with his embarrassment.

Not really excited about Wilson. He put himself in the portal, started shopping around and realized there was no market for him. He doesn't want to be at Utah. He just has no where to go.

I think Dampier should and will be QB1 when its all said and done. Wilson to have another year to develop and watch things to help the game slow down for him will be good. Isaac was thrown in there and did show potential (when he had time), but under duress he cant get the ball out of his hands in time. I think he can be good but he needs to get that mental clock down and his foot work honed in.

Nate Johnson would be an awesome WR/RB. But he didn’t seem to have a very accurate throwing arm when we saw him vs UCLA and against Oregon State he looked like Isaac Wilson at QB which is not good. I was hoping Isaac would go to BYU, but I guess they weren’t really impressed with him either. And I don’t think we should automatically be giving the starting position to Devon Dampier. He has to earn that. Utah should not be looking for a backup QB, but a QB that could start over Dampier and that is John Mateer. I’m sure he has a high price tag, but that kid slings it.

I think this is great. We need more QBs in the room. Spend a year leading and growing. Red shirt. And come in as a 2026 potentially starter!

Isaac Wilson leaving was one of the highlights of this offseason and now this shit... look. If hes 5th string and maybe red shirts next year and humbles himself.. great. Be a sponge for the next 2 years and see where hes at. Maybe maybe in 2 years he could be a starter, but I doubt it. I was hoping hed ruin one of byus seeaons.

I figure that I’m in the minority here with this thinking, recognizing that I don’t know much about ‘The Portal’, are there any expectations about ‘student athletes’ earning credits and being on track to actually graduate? Or is this clearly just pay for play and drop the facade of ‘student’ ? These athletic programs are connected to universities it would seem appropriate that people are earning degrees for life after sports. How about ‘you Can’t transfer unless you earn a specific # of credits first’

Not sure id call any of them ELITE… good pick up though with some potential for sure. Would be nice to land a top RB and maybe a starting caliber LB. Who’s next up in the open DT spot?
