⚠️ Please Read⚠️ I feel like I need say this as I didn't mention this in the video. Yes. I understand using the radar when battling Big Man makes the fight incredibly easy. HOWEVER, my first few playthroughs I did not use the radar as I was fully aware that it makes the battle very easy. Without the radar it's pretty difficult to keep track of all the manta rays as I don't know which one of them is Big Man. Not to mention they blend in with the ink which makes them even harder to track. I based my judgment on my first few playthroughs with vanilla gear, not the fully upgraded gear you see in the video (This includes the radar). Glad I could clear that up 😀 Also for those wondering why Target Town wasn't on the list it's because I thought the stage wasn't that bad.
Something I discovered during a rematch is that if you throw Little Buddy down, Big Man's bombs are targeted at it. Plus, the torpedoes don't go into air at all.
Then I redid the boss fight cause I felt bad and I wanted to see what else he could do in the second and third phase (I was kinda disappointed, they should’ve made my man fly and rain ink like the ink storm instead)
The time limit in 'The Enemy Ink is Lava' is to prevent players from cheesing the limited ink by spreading it slowly with the tiny spread caused by going into squid form.
the ink rail target mission with the Bow is by far the HARDEST i've encountered, it's hella difficult, especially that end. Everything else except the final mission was a cake walk.
It’s called “One-Way Ride To Target Town” and yeah the level absolutely sucks. I just gave up on the level 5 minutes ago as I’m writing this. Even with the 2 other weapons it’s a literal nightmare. If they would’ve given you one or two checkpoints the level could’ve at least still been possible. But guess what? You get no checkpoints and you have to shoot a bunch of targets non-stop for almost 5 minutes. WITHOUT. MISSING. A. SINGLE. ONE. And if you do miss just one horribly placed target? You have to start ALL OVER AGAIN. That means that you have to do EVERY SINGLE SECTION AGAIN. Sorry if it sounds like I’m overreacting, but I’m not. F*ck this level, even After Alterna doesn’t seem that horrible to me. F*ck this level, f*ck it, I’m done.
They could honestly just swap after alterna and one way ride to target town and I would be fine with it. That god forsaken level is so incredibly difficult I would pass it as a final boss. I actually managed to beat it on one of my switches, key word: ONE. I lost the game save, so I just spent an hour trying to beat it again. The amount of precision you need to hit all the boxes in one shot in RAPID SUCCESSION, Nintendo really went overboard on that level. At the very least they should’ve added checkpoints for crying out loud.
@@Anonymous-sw3eh EXACTLY!!!!!! I’m glad I’m not the only one. I don’t mind a little challenge, but “one way ride to target town” is extremely unforgiving. I have heard that one person actually beat it. It was only because he was super lucky though. You know the level is miserable when people could only beat it because they were being EXTREMELY lucky. I could write a whole essay about how this level is not only the hardest, but the most miserable in the game. Is After Alterna hard? Yes. But at least there are still some checkpoints there. And at least the level tests your skills and makes you come up with strategies. AND AT LEAST it’s still kind of forgiving. Conclusion: f*ck one way ride to target town, its ruining an otherwise fun single player mode.
I will say, Inner Agent 3 was harder than After Alterna, because after I beat it, I went back to Splatoon 2 to beat him and it took me a lot more attempts than After Alterna, and my heart rate was much higher. I'd say After Alterna's difficulty would be in between Girl Power and Inner Agent 3.
After Alterna at least has checkpoints and, aside from the rail part, you can take it relatively slowly. IA3 though? You’re getting constantly bombarded and you’re all on your own. Also, After Alterna’s difficulty drops off a cliff past the rail section, while IA3 is ALWAYS a menace.
After Alterna doesn't seem too hard but it's impossible for me to complete it since I have joycon drift. At least I could beat Inner Agent 3 with drift.
i think beating most of the After Alterna sections really just depends on how well you mastered the things the game has taught you thus far and general gamesense. The one thing I can critique though is the third wave of the fourth and final section: I had enough Ink Savers to throw 2 splat bombs at the opponents so i could create distance between me and them, and often times, one was bound to hit. I also had to dodge a lot by inking under myself. While I felt VERY satisfied for beating the whole thing, the final section just felt like I was exploiting the AI rather than solving it with just skillful play. I don't guarantee what I did would work for every situation (and i'm NOT going back to test it lmao) but yea
Part three of the final checkpoint has taken me hours and I still haven't beaten it. I use coward strats for the first 2 waves and then get splatted on the 3rd cause they gang up on me with missiles and wave breakers
@@mariesyvian8187 yeah that third wave is kinda inconsistent like i said, the coward strats didn't always work lol- unlike the other octolings, the fuzzy ones can *aim* this time
@@mariesyvian8187 What worked for me on the third wave was to only ever face one of them at once when possible. Two of them in the same area? Time to hightail it out of there. Doesn't always work, cause obviously sometimes they corner you, but picking them off one at a time was basically the only thing that worked for me. Also you can kinda bait the first spawn to be (usually) be in the top left on the platform that drops in the second wave if you hover around the central area between round 2 and 3. Means you can get a free kill on one of them in before they drop a wave breaker on spawn. It's not a lot, but considering how annoying those wave breakers are.... (Get the hell out of there the second you kill that first one, cause another will spawn on the other side with another wave breaker.) Also, your mileage may vary, but I never switched special abilities during the final checkpoint. The one you start with is best for clearing area and getting out of tight situations imho. No shame in taking a break from killing, finding a (hopefully quieter room) and using that to farm your special so you got an escape rope at all times. (And even then there's still some luck involved... I think beating that final area took me nearly an hour)
@@mariesyvian8187 Honestly with a Curling Bomb to go back and forth between the 2 special spawns its not that bad, take out anyone if they approach you other wise just curing back and forth to the 2 specials and use them as much as possible
I honestly loved After Alterna. It’s a neat stage because it tests your abilities in each aspect of the game. Not saying it wasn’t ridiculously hard, but it was still kinda fun
I didn’t struggle with Big Man or Girl Power Station 2.0 in After Alterna For Big Man, if you’ve upgraded your suit, the sensor highlights the real Big Man with a red cursor. As for the Octolings, I just hid in the corner and waited for them to come to me. Took em out one by one. Didn’t even bother with the canned specials, splashdown did just fine. However the first and second sections of After Alterna were hell. Never want to touch that stage again.
First section of After Alterna isn't horrible. Just very tedious. I waited for the conveyor belt of platforms to cycle as I inked a route slowly. Thankfully the water doesn't wash the ink off so you can take your time getting ready for that last push. Also, SCREW Girl Power 2.0. First and second wave isnt that bad. It's the point where they start spamming specials where it gets ridiculous. Try to defend the higher ground if you can and use Smallfry as bait. Or you can cycle through the canned specials that respawn. If you get to Zipstriker two armor cases will spawn on the pillars. (You don't even have to use the specials, just grab the next one.)
I absolutely agree with you. The big man fight was boring and easy, Girl power station 2.0 was beat on my first try but the grind rail section was really hard.
i found the second section of AA (targets) actually pretty easy, got it second attempt. and then i was stuck for a good while on the final section, it was soul draining. agreed on the first section being mind-numbing though. one dropped input and you’re gone gone.
I forget the name of the stage but the one where you're on a rail and have to hit EVERY SINGLE BOX without missing any with no checkpoints is definitely number two for me. Also Big Man was honestly really easy for me. Did it first try.
My hardest stage besides After Altera was One-Way trip through Target Town! with the Tri-Stringer. Without motion controls, that stage was a pain in the rear as I kept missing and some burst shots wouldn't reach my targets while I'm moving away from them. Somehow I got through Deadly Dance Hall Jump, Jump! on my first try probably from my past experience with shockwave attacks from other games like Skylanders Trap Team's Nightmare Mode. Now for After Alterna, when i reached the end of sector 1 with the moving platforms that loop into the water I found out my ink doesn't wash away like the rotating floors at the beginning. So I made sure I ink my whole path with both the floors and walls of each platform thoroughly covered before starting my approach. I actually enjoy big showdowns with Octarian Octolings and was wondering about the lack of them as the only big one i went through had a foggy path. Then I reached the final sector of After Alterna and it didn't disappoint. The part that got tough there was when they started using specials but my radar can find them no problem. Now I can proudly wear the gear reward and read [][][][][][][][]'s story whenever I want.
One-way trip through target town... why the heck are they suggesting you use the tri-stringer on that stage when it's clearly NOT made for the stage at all? It's like trying to use a screwdriver to unscrew a nail. You're using the wrong tool. The other 2 weapons are SO much easier!
I actually like how after alterna gave us a true challenge without it being gimmicky and overly hard like inner agent 3 was. I love when games such as the Mario series give you a gauntlet style finale level. Did it make me rage any less? No it did not. But I still loved that we had something to do in the end.
@@L3ONwithaZ took about 30 mins and 20 deaths for me to complete this level, however After Alterna took about 15 mins and only like 6-7 deaths mainly on the battle
I found the first section pretty fun for my first try but when i got to the last section I wasn't thinking a proper strangest besides running up at them and shooting. Then my game crashed
i found big man to be the weakest boss, he felt like a bit of a joke? frye and shiver gave me a harder time, even after replaying them. the hardest stages for me were the on-rail shooting ones, especially the one where they give you the bow. the ending of that one got me sooo many times
i'm on the bow one atm and i can't handle the pressure of not being able to mess up a single target, i don't think i'll ever beat it cus i just feel anxious the whole time lol
Aside from After Alterna, the level that gave me the most trouble was "One-Way Ride Through Target-Town" with the Tri-Stinger. I spent HOURS on that damned rail, trying to get every box, but no matter what i did, i always lost. I only got to the end 4 times out of the dozens of attempts, and i only got it on the fourth try from sheer luck.
big man's fight is hard at first but then I realized that the real big man is marked with a red square and it became 100x easier. Also knowing you can shoot the torpedos helped. Same for Frye's fight, you can see which eels are decoys because they are marked with a yellow square but the ones that hit her are marked red.
The first one was the first level in gaming where I actually pushed myself to take a break before trying again. Due to anxiety and bad emotional issues, I can’t bear doing time limit-related levels. The target one with those balloons was kinda easy. I hated the ones with the bow because it made me realize how easy you can miss with trying and the arch and wide space the shots have. I despise error trials with every fiber of my body. Big Man, as much as I hated battling him, made me respect him actually. Also, keep an eye on the manta that uses the weapons. Eternity… more like… Alterna-ty. I’ll see myself out
From my experience, I kinda liked After Alterna. It felt like a review for everything you went through in the campaign. The only issue I have with it is the third phase of the Octoling area. Living through all those specials felt like RNG.
For Big Man's boss fight, burst bombs are your friend, especially if you've upgraded them for reduced ink consumption. They quickly let you make space to swim and don't take a lot of precision, so you can just panic toss them and make a path out if you get swarmed by clones and bombs
After completing the octo expansion I was excited to see they upped the difficulty to the hero mode. I struggled with a few stages mostly time trials and error and after alterna. Like seriously 60 balloons in 60 seconds, give me a break. I feel like they incorporated ideas from the octo expansion stages they decided not to use. With the limited ink stage with all the enemies, I thought it was going to be a longer stage so I walked through and around enemies until I had a posse following me with a full ink bar at the end.
Frye was hardest Deep Cut fight imo. The Ink is Lava level was also hella fun and not too hard. My hardest were Time Trial And Errors with Squiffer, Those Arent Birds with Squiffer and Target Town. (After Alterna too ofc)
in my opinion almost any stage with a squiffer option is the hardest as charge times can be very annoying and especially for people that don't main chargers not seeing the recital all the time is annoying as hell
Well I wouldn’t say I had a hard time with it since the weapons didn’t really hit the other boxes so you could just look at which ones to break without worrying about where on the box to shoot
@@scarybirbman9256 well I used every weapon on every stage now and the charger was the easiest for me since it felt like there was no splash damage at all
Nintendo really said no to new players with this hero mode, it is almost similar to octo expansion ,I'm surprised I even beat all the levels ( excluding after alterna)
Nah, new players can still play the hero mode just fine. The fact that all levels are technically optional means one could skip a level they didn't want to do and still finish the game.
Only some levels where hard for me (rail target levels without checkpoints), other than that it was fun and the right difficulty. I love the creativity and now Im excited for the dlc
“Those Aren’t Birds” with squiffer is literal hell. Yes, you do have a long range, but you get *one* shot or else death. Plus, it’s a pretty expensive mission and my accuracy sucks. #1 for me.
Great video, surprised to see that One Way Through Target Town was nowhere on this list! I'm not saying it was hard myself (it was hard the first time then I keep doing it with either no deaths or one death the other times) but most people call it their personal hell. What would be your honorable mentions if any, actually? Also, a tip for anyone doing Target Town: For Stringers: Use the explosions with charged shots. One charge still gives explosions, but two charges makes them compact for better aiming. For Rapid Blasters: This is the easiest choice. Use it. For Splatlings: IDK. I don't like using splatlings, but I'd still believe rapid's the easiest for this stage
I'd heard about deadly dance hall before playing it and was really nervous, but I beat it first try and then beat it again after a couple more tries. It was super surprising, but I guess I wasn't moving around much
After Alterna was really easy for me so I'm surprised people found it so hard, after the first section it was a breeze I'm just surprised you didn't include the tri stringer level, by far the hardest and most rage inducing level in the series
Those Aren't birds is easy with Dapples and Nautilus, way more range and freedom with Naut, and Dapple can dash to catch the targets. And for the big target, just walk under it and keep shooting.
10 - annoying but doable 9 - i found dapples to be the easiest one for this level 8 - i found splatpro easier, also yeah some of these stages infuriate me, like i dont really get mad at bad teammates and losses (which is weird cause i hate bad teams normally, splatoon built different i guess) but the story stages and the perfection some of them require absolutely drive me up the wall. 7 - i didnt have any issue with this once i switched to motion controls, i originally did all of story/kettles (not secret) with sticks. (single weapon type, i revisited them with motion controls though) 6 - tapshots work better for the splatling on this, dont have to charge it much, just spam squid swim and tapshots, still an annoying level... 5 - I HATE THIS LEVEL, ITS SO DAMN PRECISE WITH SQUIFFER. (piece of cake with the others.) 4 - tapshot and swim, the chargeup chugs your valuable time. (same with squiffer bs above), flooders are a mix of RNG and pattern. 3 - i thought this one was fine actually, im just good at bankshotting curlings i guess. you can also squid jump out of the ink pretty far. 2 - this one was SUPER easy for me, get hero suit upgraded to see markers and big man goes down quickly. (oh wait, you do have the upgrade in the video, the red target is the real big man. (EDIT: i found your comment below on vanilla gear) ) 1 - part 2 of after alterna is brutal, but im surprised you didnt put target town on this list, the bow part is ruining me, i beat splatling and blaster parts though. i wish after alternas 4th stage octoling fight was redoable by itself, i enjoyed the pvp training. protip for some of the walls, hold squid surge and you can stick to the wall and move freely.
11:40 It is actually easy to keep track of the correct shadow, assuming you're prepared. If you buy the sensor upgrades, the correct one will have a pink icon on it while the others will be yellow.
The one i struggled with the most where the rail grind level where the boxes spin around each other as they follow your rail, i had some difficulty with the after alterna rail section but only because i kept running out of ink one one specific section, once i learned i needed to submerge whenever i wasn't shooting to keep my ink tank full it was very easy like the rest of the level
I personally don't think after Alterna was that hard! the rail grinding section was pretty difficult and the last section was HELL but the other two I just found kinda easy... but I understand that some people could struggle on it.
6:55 i was SHAKING after i beat this level with the squiffer. in my opinion, next to after alterna, this is the most terrifying and hardest level (squiffer). even 2 levels after i beat it completely i was shaking 10:45 i found big mans boss fight extremely easy, the only boss that made me rage and start over was shiver, since i was unable to upgrade my weapon and it seemed that was required, but i beat it! i actually dont remember a lot from big mans except for shooting the tiny rays. i expected more, really
list is inconsistent. big man boss fight was extremely easy, the third stage is mildly stressful but i did it easily first try. "those arent birds" is pretty easy with the dualies, as yeah the red box is the hardest but the charger is too slow to hit multiple targets, atleast for me not used to using chargers. "ink fast", seriously? WITH PRO SHOT? the charger is more difficult because you can run out of time much more easily (the balloons disappear, and theres so many checkpoints...). "a compulsive collecters paradise" is one i struggled with at the beginning, but then i actually used my brain and got the fish eggs in order. that made it unbelievably easy as you dont run out of time anymore, the shower robots are really easy to dodge as you can literally dodge them around cornors. and you say how the secret level last section with octolings was multiple inner agent 3's. you know, this level isnt even nearly on the same level as girl power, and you people already compare it to inner agent 3. it truly annoys me how people bitch about the secret level more than the tri shot bow target rail level. that one crushed my soul, because every attempt takes 2-3 minutes from me, with the exact last section being so ridicolously hard.
It's always the time trial levels that are the hardest. You have to hit all the balloons without messing up or else you'll lose valuable time, which causes you to make more mistakes with how much you can't mess up. I consider the rail grind levels time trials too, considering... Well, you only have until the end of the rail, which is a set time.
For me, at first the level of jumping was a little hard for me since i lost when about 3 seconds were left, nothing that in a third was still a problem... after that, all the levels of the targets in rails were a PAIN... i just get too nervous of just thinking "omg ill miss", and i did. Big Man was a little of a deal for the bombs because i thought he was easy. Ofc the most challenging of them all was after Alterna, took me about 5 hours to finally get all levels and was worth it!
Need help? Time trial and errors: With squiffer, yes just spam, but use the burst bombs for large quantities of balloons. Compulsive collector: 1. Make a map of the entire lay out 2. Make a good route to take. 3. USE BURST BOMBS (ps. Aiming the bomb in a certain way could collect a trail of eggs similar to the charger) BIG MAN boss: Burst bombs are your best friend/curling bombs splash down will help a lot, the perk that let's you mark enemys when in squid form will also help to much (ps. The shadow with a red mark is the real BIG MAN) After alterna: Kneel down and start praying. SMALL FRY IS A FAT HELP AGAINST THE OCTO SEGMENT. I hope this could possibly help y'all.
Tips for the mentioned stages (i guess) 10: avoid eggs and stay at your corner so you can predict the shockwaves 9: dodge roll to move and splat the orange target faster 8: don’t shoot balloons with a fail balloon below them and if you have to, shoot one shot at a time 7: try all other weapons first to get a feel for the target positions and shoot a little ahead of the moving targets you can cancel your shots midway by pressing ZL (swim form) to charge your next shots 6: ignore all enemies except octosniper, get armor to tank more hits 5: burst bomb 3 target groups to save time and refill lots of ink at one go swim to your destinations as well to refill ink 4: get into the maze ASAP so that flooders do not ink the place Learn the map layout to ensure you get all eggs but beware the random flooder AI 3: the ink is a clue build momentum in squid form before moving from one puddle to the next 2: Get Sensor. Red = Real. Yellow = Fake. also the fakes attack too make sure to refill 1: Max your hero gear. The camera viewpoints and the Areas Of Interest on the map indicate where Sardinium may be. As After Alterna is expensive, 100% all of the previous stages to obtain eggs for spending. Then, complete ‘Bet You Mist Us!’ And ‘Stamp 'Em Out’ before attempting as they are the only Fuzzy Octolings. Lastly, learn to Squid Roll and maybe play some multiplayer. Those fuzzy octolings are dangerous. When you complete this stage, go outside and take a nice soothing break, you deserve it.
Big man was easy and this is my first spatoon game so I'm surprised you thought it was hard Shiver was much more harder. The hardest stages for me are anything required shooting a box thoses are annoying as heck to beat. After that it's After Alter.
i will sya that fo deadly hall jum jump it get SIGNIFICANTLY harder when you try to go for the eggs becuase once you get the first batch you get 2 more that spawn and then 3 more spawn all in diffrent locations and because i cant help myself i spent A LOT OF time trying it over and over to get ALL 6 of the eggs, the hardest part was getting the last 3 egg containers and surving the last 15 secs you need to pass. On another note also found out its a great way to farm eggs (i think) if you die after getting all 6 (which isnt hard) you get to keep it (i think) after you die so late in the level too they give you some pity eggs (not sure about this). BUT that means that you get 150 eggs in under a minute i didnt notice until after a couple of tries. you do lose 30 eggs because the level has a fee but i thinks its still good. also because they only give you one Life in this level once you do beat it you keep 150 eggs and get the first time bonus completion eggs & the reward too (i forgot how much they give you) when i finished i had around 4,000 eggs i think
I found "One Way Ride Through Target Town" (Site 5, Kettle 7) way more difficult and frustrating than "Easy Ride, Tricky Targets". For one, "One Way Ride" has no checkpoints. And the ink rail ride is about 1.5 mins long. So if you mess up and miss breaking a target, you go all the way back to the beginning. The second is the last 2 groups of targets requiring a jump-and-shoot technique. This requires the most accurate precision and timing of your shots so that it breaks all the last 2 groups of targets or else you fall straight into the water.
Time trial and error with squiffer is actually not that hard, the problem is thinking about it as a charger. It pops the ballon without even charging making it easier to pop balloons in succession towards the end and consuming less ink. Once I realised this I cleared it immediately.
Some big tips for on rails is very simple but very easy to forget under pressure, which these levels do a lot; keep calm and let the targets come to your crosshair. If you stress too much on getting your marker on the target, you'll inevitably have a point where you over aim and miss an easy shot. Also keep in mind that all targets have a fixed pattern so remember where they are every time you fail.
that sinking feeling had me on edge 😭 i thought the water was gonna rise but then the PLATFORMS STARTED GOING DOWN?? I was literally rushing and stressing so much ☠️
The enemy ink is lava has a time limit to avoid players cheesing by squid bagging through to make a trail. Though it's super forgiving as if you mess up one throw or two, doing so will still have lots of spare time
1:07 As a Fellow splatoon player and also a JSAB fan (i have beated mortal combat in JSAB) this was easy, this was just a bullet hell! and i love bullet hells! also if i did this i would replace the obscurest chiaroscurist with THE MORTAL HELL THAT IS "ONE WAY RIDE AROUND TARGET TOWN", DONT EVER REMIND ME OF MY SUFFERING, I SUFFERED
Imo I feel time trial and errors is the best stage to teach yourself on chargers and the limitations of the squiffer. Although painful, most people think “oh i gotta charge nonstop” but theres lil techniques you can do to just splat a target easily. Also just spam the small charges when you get up close to specific targets. Its my guilty pleasure level
I just finished beating the stages with all weapons and this is a good list even though I don't agree with all of the choices. Like a lot of other people I'm surprised one-way ride through target town with the tri-stringer isn't on the list, that was the hardest stage besides after alterna for me.
I was incredibly surprised to not see One way ride through target town with Tri-Stringer on here. Especially since you included another much easier rail grind mission.
Just started the game and decided the first thing i was doing was marathoning story mode, doing all stages with all weapons. It's interesting that our hypothetical lists are very different. I'm particularly shocked that Those Aren't Birds with the Squiffer wasn't on here. I did struggle with the dualies a bit as well, but that's just because I'm really bad at the dodge roll. The squiffer was the REAL menace. Hardest level for me save After Alterna. Time Trials and Errors you can actually fuck up on quite a bit as long as you get the first half down clean. My winning run was surprisingly messy! It's also at least fast to restart and retry. Meanwhile Those Aren't Birds requires borderline perfection, especially in the last segment due to the fakeout ending. If I was to give my personal list. Spaces between entries indicate a huge jump in difficulty level: 10) Splitting Crosshairs - Splosher 9) Bet You Mist Us - In General, shout-out to Splatana Stamper. It lost points once I learned you can cheese the encounter after the midpoint (the hardest one due to its tight space) by staying on the grate platform and attacking below you. 8) That Sinking Feeling - Carbon Roller. The one level that ACTUALLY gave me a panic attack. Find this much harder than the mini splatling due to its low range unless you spend extra time to do a jump slash. Also mini is my baby and I will not stand for this slander. 7) Conveyor Belt Tightening - In General, shout-out to Flingza Roller 6) Enter the Stamp Gauntlet - Unarmed 5) One Way Ride Through Target Town - In General, shout-out to Tri-stringer. Really its just the stupid, non-intuitive ending + the lack of checkpoints. Legit had to look up how to do it, would never have guessed it wanted you to jump off on my own. That and for Tri-stringer specifically it can be hard to deal with the high box stack. The rest was easy. It gets most of its points for being frustrating. 4) A Compulsive Collector's Paradise - E-Liter 3) Time Trials and Errors - Squiffer 2) Those Aren't Birds - Squiffer 1) After Alterna... But almost entirely because of the first section. Honestly the octoling fight is overrated in terms of difficulty, you have a lot of room and can easily spawn camp them. The only hard part is the ending when they get specials. Meanwhile the first section takes eons and has no checkpoints. Its gotta be at least a good 10 minutes to clear that part alone. Everything else was quick and easy by comparison.
Some of these I did with the weapons you listed for their first times, for example the dapple dualies with the flying target block level or the mini splatling with the sinking level, and I thought it was more fun
Fact: After alterna is the hardest mode because at the end you face kelp octolings, and the last wave of them features wave breakers and you only get ONE set of armor
Chiaroscurist is pronounced Chee-arrow-scure-ist. I honestly found the second part of After Alterna to be the hardest part of that level for me. The last spiral always got me and once I got past it, I absolutely fluked the ending. Great content. I just discovered your channel and subbed.
I know I’m late to seeing this video. At 13:07, as someone that had beaten Inner Agent 3 the first time after over 2 years (I raged quit a lot of times [and lost count of how long I tried to beat it), but still wanted to do it because 100% to sometimes 1,000% completionist), I’d say Inner Agent 3 is harder than After Alterna. I’m not saying it was easy for me to beat this level, but I believe it only took me like 2 to 3 hours to beat it (the first and last stage/part of the level gave me the most trouble).
For Time Trials and Errors, you can use the burst bomb to eliminate any groups of a targets. In the clip you had you actually had it equipped to but just didn’t use it.
number 5 is actually pretty easy if you do it the right way. just tap fire instead of charging your shots for every single target. the few at the end are really the only ones you should charge your shots for
I loved After Alterna for one reason. If you're at least a bit decent at the game, you can beat EVERYTHING as long as you're very patient YET confident in what you do. Yes, even the final phase. (Granted the amount of patience needed is greater but still) I actually really liked trying over and over again because that's the first thing I noticed. Don't disrespect the level, rush it if you want but only if you have the confidence in your skills to do so.

I feel like I need say this as I didn't mention this in the video. Glad I could clear that up 😀
Also for those wondering why Target Town wasn't on the list it's because I thought the stage wasn't that bad.
Now time for the speedrunners to go crazy
It took me about a minute to beat Big Man because of the radar. He literally doesnt get enough time to do anything if you just burst him down.
Something I discovered during a rematch is that if you throw Little Buddy down, Big Man's bombs are targeted at it. Plus, the torpedoes don't go into air at all.
But you used the radar in the video..?
@@cubic3282 Re read the last part
Big man’s fight was pretty easy imo, Frye was definitely the hardest deep cut member
once again, radar tells you what is real
Yeah frye was the hardest fight, other than grizz he was a nightmare
Yeah I didn’t get how big man was hard I clapped him on the first try in less than a minute 😅
Then I redid the boss fight cause I felt bad and I wanted to see what else he could do in the second and third phase (I was kinda disappointed, they should’ve made my man fly and rain ink like the ink storm instead)
Frye was a pain to beat
The time limit in 'The Enemy Ink is Lava' is to prevent players from cheesing the limited ink by spreading it slowly with the tiny spread caused by going into squid form.
Huh. Never considered that. Good thinking
i still did it either way lol
But it's super tedious and hard af anyway
@@Chifeture I beat big man on my very first try
you can still do it easily
The top two better be After Alterna and that target shooting one with the bow
Agreed
How can after alterna not be top 1 I mean it’s a super hard level with the length of like 3,5 normal levels
Agreed
Fr
I hated that target shooting one , they recommended the bow but the blaster made it way easier
the ink rail target mission with the Bow is by far the HARDEST i've encountered, it's hella difficult, especially that end.
Yes
I did it first try with the splatling
the ultra stamp + octoballer stage with the specials you had to pick up drove me crazy. The timing was so unbelievably tight
I actually did that one first try, you just gotta remember that you can throw it.
@@dragonslayer7724 Did it second try because I missed the last throw on the first lmao
I kept chaning I want to die on that one I wanted to break my switch
I saw my sister struggling for an hour with that stage, I don't even want to test my sanity in that one
TIP: Instead of stamping them one by one, you should throw it so that it goes above them in a straight line, you'll get them faster
Yeah lol I can beat after alterna after a mild bit of dying inside but I have never beat inner agent 3
I havnt played inner agent 3 but based on what iv seen I wouldn't stand a chance 💀 I stand somewhat in alterna
After Alterna doesn't seem too hard but it's impossible for me to complete it since I have joycon drift. At least I could beat Inner Agent 3 with drift.
i don't get why people say girl power station was hard. i managed to beat it first try lol but i struggled so much with after alterna
i think beating most of the After Alterna sections really just depends on how well you mastered the things the game has taught you thus far and general gamesense.
@@mariesyvian8187 yeah that third wave is kinda inconsistent
like i said, the coward strats didn't always work lol-
unlike the other octolings, the fuzzy ones can *aim* this time
@@mariesyvian8187 What worked for me on the third wave was to only ever face one of them at once when possible.
(Get the hell out of there the second you kill that first one, cause another will spawn on the other side with another wave breaker.)
Also, your mileage may vary, but I never switched special abilities during the final checkpoint.
Agreed it’s not too bad. I’m just a klutz who keeps falling off the map. 😂
I honestly loved After Alterna. It’s a neat stage because it tests your abilities in each aspect of the game. Not saying it wasn’t ridiculously hard, but it was still kinda fun
Maybe you were raised in hell or had a hellish childhood if you can enjoy the feeling of pain
The second stage was painful 💀
I didn’t struggle with Big Man or Girl Power Station 2.0 in After Alterna
For Big Man, if you’ve upgraded your suit, the sensor highlights the real Big Man with a red cursor.
As for the Octolings, I just hid in the corner and waited for them to come to me. Took em out one by one. Didn’t even bother with the canned specials, splashdown did just fine.
However the first and second sections of After Alterna were hell. Never want to touch that stage again.
Ironically for me, even if I hid in a corner and played the waiting game they would always know exactly where I was no matter what
First section of After Alterna isn't horrible.
Even with the Radar, Big Man can still easily overwhelm you, so be careful.
I forget the name of the stage but the one where you're on a rail and have to hit EVERY SINGLE BOX without missing any with no checkpoints is definitely number two for me. Also Big Man was honestly really easy for me. Did it first try.
Number one for me, too, that rail level is just hell. Big man fight was actually fun, but he didn't take any stock from me, it was really easy.
@@arthurag.8267 It seems we had similar experiences!
I used motion controls and one way trip was still hell.
One way trip felt just has hard as after alterna
As of typing this, I still haven't beat it, I want to 100% the story mode but I hate this stage in every conceivable way possible.
One-way trip through target town... why the heck are they suggesting you use the tri-stringer on that stage when it's clearly NOT made for the stage at all? It's like trying to use a screwdriver to unscrew a nail. You're using the wrong tool. The other 2 weapons are SO much easier!
@@trickygamer555 probably because of the walls you can put the fully charged shot on
I actually like how after alterna gave us a true challenge without it being gimmicky and overly hard like inner agent 3 was. I love when games such as the Mario series give you a gauntlet style finale level. Did it make me rage any less? No it did not. But I still loved that we had something to do in the end.
the second hardest for me was the bow grind rail one. Its so hard and I can't beleive its not on the list
Was it the one with no checkpoints and had you use the charge shot explosions? Cause if so same… 15 attempts later.
@@victormartinez4928 yep thats the one- for me that one took longer to beat than after alterna no 🧢

for Big Man boss, using smallfry as distraction is very helpful especially upgraded smallfry

I love how After Alterna took me over an hour to beat and most of the time spent was on the first section 💀
The 1st section was so damn hard

The only way i could beat that one was simply trowing the Tri-Stinger to the trash and using other weapon
big man's fight is hard at first but then I realized that the real big man is marked with a red square and it became 100x easier.
Living through all those specials felt like RNG.
what I did was spam the curler bomb and peek octolings for splats 1 by 1. Slow going but the specials can't really touch you
I honestly thought it was kinda fun
For Big Man's boss fight, burst bombs are your friend, especially if you've upgraded them for reduced ink consumption. They quickly let you make space to swim and don't take a lot of precision, so you can just panic toss them and make a path out if you get swarmed by clones and bombs
For me, Agent 3 was definitely much harder than After Alterna, that fight totally broke me and when I won it was the most satisfying thing!
I am honestly ASTONISHED that One-Way Ride Through Target Town isn't on this list. That level is SO FRUSTRATING I SWEAR TO GOD.
Frye was hardest Deep Cut fight imo. The Ink is Lava level was also hella fun and not too hard. My hardest were Time Trial And Errors with Squiffer, Those Arent Birds with Squiffer and Target Town. (After Alterna too ofc)
The only ones I really found difficult were "deadly dance hall" and "the enemy ink is lava", the second one being really frustrating to me
The true final boss: ONE WAY RIDE THROUGH TARGET TOWN: RECOMMENDED WEAPON? B O W
in my opinion almost any stage with a squiffer option is the hardest as charge times can be very annoying and especially for people that don't main chargers not seeing the recital all the time is annoying as hell
As someone who 100% Splatoon 3’s story, I can confirm that these were the most painful stages to go through
...after alterna... 𝙥𝙖𝙞𝙣
Surprised the stage where you have to make a shape out of the boxes isn’t on here- that took me FOREVER
Well I wouldn’t say I had a hard time with it since the weapons didn’t really hit the other boxes so you could just look at which ones to break without worrying about where on the box to shoot
Taking forever doesnt exactly mean “difficult”

Also, a tip for anyone doing Target Town:
For Stringers: Use the explosions with charged shots. One charge still gives explosions, but two charges makes them compact for better aiming.
For Rapid Blasters: This is the easiest choice. Use it.
For Splatlings: IDK. I don't like using splatlings, but I'd still believe rapid's the easiest for this stage
Swap big man’s fight with a one way trip through target town, and you’ve got yourself a list.
The true treasure were the heartattacks we had along the way.
I'd heard about deadly dance hall before playing it and was really nervous, but I beat it first try and then beat it again after a couple more tries. It was super surprising, but I guess I wasn't moving around much
After Alterna was really easy for me so I'm surprised people found it so hard, after the first section it was a breeze
I'm just surprised you didn't include the tri stringer level, by far the hardest and most rage inducing level in the series
me too
Those Aren't birds is easy with Dapples and Nautilus, way more range and freedom with Naut, and Dapple can dash to catch the targets. And for the big target, just walk under it and keep shooting.
as someone who 100% all 3 Splatoon games, the only hard part of after alterna was the octoling fight part.
inner agent 3 was definitely harder
After Alterna my beloved
Bro what big man was the easiest boss imo
Nah I felt Shiver's battle was the easiest imo

Surprisingly I actually completed That Sinking Feeling w the mini spaltling first try. My heart was racing by the end, but boy I sure did complete it
10 - annoying but doable
9 - i found dapples to be the easiest one for this level
8 - i found splatpro easier, also yeah some of these stages infuriate me, like i dont really get mad at bad teammates and losses (which is weird cause i hate bad teams normally, splatoon built different i guess) but the story stages and the perfection some of them require absolutely drive me up the wall.
7 - i didnt have any issue with this once i switched to motion controls, i originally did all of story/kettles (not secret) with sticks. (single weapon type, i revisited them with motion controls though)
6 - tapshots work better for the splatling on this, dont have to charge it much, just spam squid swim and tapshots, still an annoying level...
5 - I HATE THIS LEVEL, ITS SO DAMN PRECISE WITH SQUIFFER. (piece of cake with the others.)
4 - tapshot and swim, the chargeup chugs your valuable time.
(EDIT: i found your comment below on vanilla gear) )
1 - part 2 of after alterna is brutal, but im surprised you didnt put target town on this list, the bow part is ruining me, i beat splatling and blaster parts though.
i wish after alternas 4th stage octoling fight was redoable by itself, i enjoyed the pvp training.
protip for some of the walls, hold squid surge and you can stick to the wall and move freely.
Big Man was easy as fuck, tbh.
Also, the secret level is pretty difficult, but doable. Inner 3 was WAY WAY harder.
11:40 It is actually easy to keep track of the correct shadow, assuming you're prepared. If you buy the sensor upgrades, the correct one will have a pink icon on it while the others will be yellow.
Any "break all the targets on the rails" is the hardest😭
The thing is, I had to do all the stages in the game with EVERY weapon available because I thought that’s how you 100% it

Sensor really helps with the big man stage as it pinpoints the correct manta ray to hit with a red color
I thought bigman’s fight was a joke because of how easy it was
I cannot deny that After Alterna is do or die, but you can't deny that it was cool that they decided to make a Champion's Road for Splatoon.
I personally don't think after Alterna was that hard! the rail grinding section was pretty difficult and the last section was HELL but the other two I just found kinda easy... but I understand that some people could struggle on it.
i thought i was the only one who thought after alterna was harder the inner agent 3
6:55
i was SHAKING after i beat this level with the squiffer. in my opinion, next to after alterna, this is the most terrifying and hardest level (squiffer). even 2 levels after i beat it completely i was shaking
10:45
i found big mans boss fight extremely easy, the only boss that made me rage and start over was shiver, since i was unable to upgrade my weapon and it seemed that was required, but i beat it!
i actually dont remember a lot from big mans except for shooting the tiny rays. i expected more, really
list is inconsistent. big man boss fight was extremely easy, the third stage is mildly stressful but i did it easily first try.
I looked up at first of any hardest levels in splatoon 3 but there was none until this came up in my recommendations, thx
Chifeture: After alterna is not a good idea
3d mario devs: they just did what we always do
This really shows how different everyone's opinion can be
14:50 Just to let you all know, if you use an ink-bomb on the bottom of those platforms it automatically covers the entire thing in ink
Tips for the mentioned stages (i guess)
10: avoid eggs and stay at your corner so you can predict the shockwaves
9: dodge roll to move and splat the orange target faster
8: don’t shoot balloons with a fail balloon below them and if you have to, shoot one shot at a time
7: try all other weapons first to get a feel for the target positions and shoot a little ahead of the moving targets
you can cancel your shots midway by pressing ZL (swim form) to charge your next shots
6: ignore all enemies except octosniper, get armor to tank more hits
5: burst bomb 3 target groups to save time and refill lots of ink at one go
swim to your destinations as well to refill ink
4: get into the maze ASAP so that flooders do not ink the place
Learn the map layout to ensure you get all eggs but beware the random flooder AI
3: the ink is a clue
build momentum in squid form before moving from one puddle to the next
2: Get Sensor. Red = Real. Yellow = Fake.
also the fakes attack too
make sure to refill
1: Max your hero gear.
Question for all the Mario 3d World fans watching this: Which one’s harder? Champion’s Road or After Alterna?
Big Man reminds me Dark Souls’Pinwell: intended to be a long crowded encounter, ended in no time with no effort.
I was literally rushing and stressing so much ☠️
After alterna I still haven’t beat yet
The enemy ink is lava has a time limit to avoid players cheesing by squid bagging through to make a trail. Though it's super forgiving as if you mess up one throw or two, doing so will still have lots of spare time
So He Didn’t Talk About That Rail Level With The Tri-Shooter?
No. Because it's easy

And Darkest Side of the Moon.
And the Sword Trials.
*You literally triggered me with #10. Thank you for the pain.*
the hardest was the target for me. I was so glad that I beated it. It took me like 2 hours to beat it and get the bear headbands.
I have no clue why but Splitting Crosshairs with the slosher was an absolute nightmare for me and is the honorary #11 spot in my eyes
Spaces between entries indicate a huge jump in difficulty level:
10) Splitting Crosshairs - Splosher
9) Bet You Mist Us - In General, shout-out to Splatana Stamper.
7) Conveyor Belt Tightening - In General, shout-out to Flingza Roller
6) Enter the Stamp Gauntlet - Unarmed
5) One Way Ride Through Target Town - In General, shout-out to Tri-stringer.
4) A Compulsive Collector's Paradise - E-Liter
3) Time Trials and Errors - Squiffer
2) Those Aren't Birds - Squiffer
1) After Alterna...
Time trial and error’s is a night mare thanks for putting it in
Some of these I did with the weapons you listed for their first times, for example the dapple dualies with the flying target block level or the mini splatling with the sinking level, and I thought it
was more fun
Fact: After alterna is the hardest mode because at the end you face kelp octolings, and the last wave of them features wave breakers and you only get ONE set of armor
Chiaroscurist is pronounced Chee-arrow-scure-ist. I honestly found the second part of After Alterna to be the hardest part of that level for me. The last spiral always got me and once I got past it, I absolutely fluked the ending. Great content. I just discovered your channel and subbed.
I still haven’t bet After Altrena. I’m still trying
Bro why do u not even have 1k subs u deserve so much more!
Big Man's boss fight being a callback to Mario Sunshine was pretty cool
For number 5 you can cheese this by just tap shooting the ballons. It doesn't need a full charge. A tap shot is enough which saves ink and time.
The box breaking level with the slosher was definitely the hardest for me other than after alterna
4:38 my way of coping the stress of falling off a rail of ink in a kid’s game as a sentient squid kid holding a weapon that shoots ink
>no Conveyor belt Tightening (Flingza)
That stage is being the bane of my existence
(Granted the amount of patience needed is greater but still)
I actually really liked trying over and over again because that's the first thing I noticed.
Don't disrespect the level, rush it if you want but only if you have the confidence in your skills to do so.
