Have done this many times on old 22 rifles along with barrel liners. Instead of locktite which I also use I have in past shrink fit the barrel and stub. Machine for a zero tolerance fit and heat the stub to expand it. Quickly screw it in place and let the parts normalize. You won't get them apart EVER again.
I aim for about .002 clearance. It's important to have sufficient clearance that you can get the pieces in place easily. Loctite is an anaerobic adhesive. Once confined, it sets up fast! I have been caught before.

When you machine the matching part to sleeve over the barrel, how much of a gap do you leave between the two pieces for the Loc-Tite? Thanks.
