I’m thinking about exactly this choice at the moment. I want a larger diver but not deep sea fat. The SD43 looks such a nice watch so leaning towards that if my AD get one .
Thanks for the comparison Marc! I have the 41mm Sub and have been thinking about going bigger to the 43mm SD. I just bought a 44mm Panerai to see how I feel about it. I am used to something big and thick in my pants, not sure how I feel about it on my wrist. :-D
I owned the 16610 the 116610ln and always was not happy about how small it looks on my wrist, change for the Deepsea and the face was right but the thickness was too much for me so got the 116600 and still too small, now I have the 126600 and im happy with the watch, some people may think is too big but that depends how big is your wrist. the only thing I advice when buying a watch is to buy what you like, don't read or listen to others opinions as you buying a watch for you and is for you to wear it and enjoy it.

Just got mine from AD. Took about 4-months. Took off the extension upon recommendation from AD. Wears great, took a few days to get it just right😷. I find the the text is a bit small, probably old eyes. But the bubble is really good for seeing the date.
I have the SD but was too big for my wrist so I sold it and bought the Hulk. I agree with you I could make a nice profit of the Hulk but it’s a keeper.
No only do I keep a UV flashlight by the bed for the purpose of charging lume, but the UV flashlight I have is a high power one that uses special batteries and can damage the eyes if looked at directly. Because I ain't playing when it comes to lume.

I've tried on the new 41mm Kermit on my 6.25" wrist and the size is fine. It doesn't look too big at all. I think they've done a great job on the new Sub. I'm on the list but not holding my breath

The new 41mm sub isn’t..it’s only 0.3mm larger than the old one. Since when have Rolex’s official sizing has had any relevance to the actual size. DJ41’s are 39.5, ‘40’mm Daytona’s are 38.6mm etc etc
I’m 8 and 1/4 and the Maxi case never appealed to me. Doesn’t look bigger, just boxier. SD43 is really fluent, a very nice watch so I’ll take that over a measly 41 mm sub any day.
As a producer of videos typically based on something interesting or new in the industry, this one appears to be much ado about very little, especially for most of your viewers who are most likely owners of, or otherwise familiar with, both of these watches.

The SeaDweller is 43mm and Sub is 40mm, but hands, dial and glas........same size on both watches. But the 40mm Sub had bigger lugs than the SD.......so we have the new Sub now to fix it.
Based on the size of the new sub, I think Rolex has farmed out the manufacturing to Harley Davidson .. Rolex discontinued the Hulk and now we have the Hog.
The choice here is totally subjective. There is no wrong choice. It depends completely on you own subjective preference. For somebody who prefers the Sea Dweller, the Sea Dweller is the best choice. For somebody who prefers the Submariner 41, the Sub is the best choice. No right or wrong here. And of course, your wrist and body size may influence your preference.
The new Sub actually has the same if not wider lugs when measured from one end of a lug to the other lug. It's the bracelet that gives it a more streamlined look. If you take just the watch head footprint it's the same if not wider on the new Subs lugs.
@@terrydaigle8356 ok, many other watches are 15mm thick, less capable divers, chronos. I think you'll hit a 12mm watch just as easily. It's not the watch, it's you :-). The movement running fast is easily regulated. But I get it, you didn't like it.

I have a theory about the 2020 releases: Rolex doesn't need more customers, they are almost impossible to buy. Asian marked buying everything? And it's always good to have a good relation to the country/region you are located in. So the only way to make a "fair" and un-noticable change is to increase the sizes to out-size many of the asians. The OP41 will be too big for most people, especially asians, same with the Sub. Therefore it will be easier to buy the larger models in Europe and America. Also the OP "Stella" coloured dials on the old DD originals were almost impossible to sell back in the day. So Rolex are trying to slightly decrease demand, and to give more watches to the western wrists.
So Western American woman with small wrist are wearing Sub SeaDewllers and deepsea. It will bee a feeding frenzy for the new subs hotter than the Pepsi GMT . Nest year Coke will be the killer.
The SD43 is THE only Rolex model that was so uncomfortable I had to sell it. Not the case with the DSSD JC on my 7 1/4” wrist. The case back on the SD43 was no bueno. Now my Sub 41 126610LN is perfection on the wrist yet still yields the same dial and hands as the SD43 so it all worked out with in a better package. The SD43 feels a lot bulkier and heavy than the Sub41 which in my mind kills the SD43. Honestly, I think the new Sub41 will pull from the SD43 buying pool. The Sub41 dial is a much deep black than the charcoal black SD43.
Was uncomfortable for the first week of wearing it, went back and had the AD to take out the dive extension which adds so much unnecessary weight. Made all the difference in the world
Same here. Worn my SD43 for a year, found it so uncomfortable I swapped it for a Sub. Best decision I ever made. Love the size of the SD and I wear bigger watches, 46mm navitimer, it was just the case back, was uncomfortable unfortunately.
The SD43 has a thick and narrow caseback. It should be wither. It feels like the movement is to smal for the SD43. The caseback of the Deep Sea is better, better proportions, but ok 17,5 mm thick is to much. I guess the new sub will be perfect.
@@mikaelkallin7058 No need to be wider, it's only about 45g heavier. I personally find it very comfortable, but it probably depends on the wrist. I have divers with large caseback surface and these can be uncomfortable after a while
The caseback on the Deep Sea is beautiful. Perfect. Beautiful watch the Deep Sea. I would like to se the caseback on the SD43 to be bigger like it is on the Deep Sea. It is smal and thick. The surface on the wrist could be bigger on a 43 mm watch.
43 Sea-Dweller is an unwearable watch - just too thick. I have a large wrist (19.5 cm) and, trying on SD43, I felt extremely uncomfortable. Why are people buying it at all..? Sub 41 - unnoticeable changes to Sub 40, should be still one of the most comfortable watches in the market. PS. GMT Master II is a winner in terms of comfort on the wrist anyway!)
If u take out the dive extension that adds too much unnecessary weight it actually becomes quite comfortable and made the world of difference to me. I mean if you want the most comfort get a smart watch. The matte dial and red writing are subtle but way more special than a sub and something not everyone has. If buying on the grey market, unless u have very small wrist, idk why you would even buy a submariner instead of trying to acquire an sd43 from an AD or even pay the very small markup on the grey market.

Unless you have a nice collection of other watches, I wouldn't consider it as a single piece for everyday use. For the same money one might get a Bluesy sub for example (that's what I did), as plain black submariner is the most boring watch in the world indeed - everyone has it and actually looking at it nothing interesting is going on both on the dial and on the bracelet. But due to less thickness sub wins over SD43 for me personally. Would be nice if SD was 12 mm thick - perfect watch.

Flat wrist the 43 is 👍. Depends on body shape. They’re all good wingers
