I'm no mechanic but I'm willing to try and figure things out I'm glad the video helped you it makes me feel better that the time to record it. Good luck with your install thanks for watching.
(si hablas.español te agradezco tu ayuda)hello I write to you from Colombia. I have a 1954 Chevy Bel Air with a powerglide transmission and aftermaket steering column. I'm looking for a kit like this one on eBay or Amazon but they all seem to not be compatible with the powerglide transmission? Could you advise me and give me a reference that would help me?
Mafosa I had to adjust it a couple of times but it really close I adjusted it to the reverse and drive since the indicator has the whole word PARK and it's easy to know when it's in park. Also make sure you adjust the neutral safety switch to reverse since it's what turns on your reverse lights
The kit I bought said it would work with several other transmissions but they offer other kits also depending on the transmission and if it's a column shifter or cable shifter
Oh ok I'm hoping to be able to replace the cable shifter completely it's just turned into an unreliable hassle. Being able to use bolts instead of plastic clips is much more ideal and you won't have to worry about the linkage simply disconnecting so easily again👍😎👌
@@h.i.sc-10tips31 you're right asking plastic pieces to secure moving metal parts is an accident waiting to happen it just doesn't make any sense unless you work for a "STEALERSHIP"😳
I changed my column to tilt column off a 72 c10 I had but the none tilt column looked the same are you talking about the bracket on the column where the shift linkage connects too
@@h.i.sc-10tips31 yes that’s what I’m having trouble with. the bracket is toward the driver fender, everything is opposite a little confused looking into it right now 🥴.
It sounds like your column turned have you tried loosening the clamp holding it to the firewall and turning it the right way. Was the steering column rebuild that you know of
That I know of no. I didn’t disconnect anything from the firewall didnt know it would spin. Didn’t see any bolt. It was originally a v6, I put a 5.3 and well my headers are in the way of the gear linkage. So I disconnected it and it won’t go back 🤦♂️ bought the one you out but everything is opposite.
Like the transmission when going to drive the lever goes down toward the floor and the bracket on the column when moved to drive it goes up 😑 if only I could put pics
Accurate desciption of the linkage installation process. Great video. Thank you so much 👏👏
Thanks for the video. I thought I was the only one struggling with installing the shifter.. 😢
Great video bro, thanks to you I'm able to install mine with more confidence! God bless

@@jjsquire706 sadly newer cars are using more plastic parts but if you could replace it with metal parts make it more reliable. Best of luck to you

Did you replace your shift column? Mine has the bracket on the other side, and it ain’t working out all to well.
