マクラーレン・ホンダ MP4/4 です。
TH-camにアップするのは2回目となりますが
今回はカメラがCanon XA20になっていますので
いくらか解像度の良い映像になっていると思います。
10月5日に鈴鹿サーキットで走行するための
確認テストとのことです。

What exhaust is he running? I want to put it on my civic.
The trick is the F1 cars have almost NO exhaust! Only a short pipe close to the engine. If you cut you exhaust from your Civic you will see how much sound you get!
It's just a set of straight pipes. But they're illegal in a lot of places because you're getting rid of the catalytic converter.

The turbos in the 80's just sounded mad, raw and furious. Rally cars, F1 and Group C cars, amazing !
You can hear the savage boost kick in when it hits the higher RPM. Haha god this car was badass.

These were only 2.5 bar (1988 limit of the regs). This car was neutered compared to the 1986 and even 1987 cars where they ran up to 5 bar boost. That's why this car runs a really shallow rear wing. It was not THAT powerful - around 680BHP.

Gotta love the low-end growl of the turbo V6. And 3 years later Honda SCREAMED in V12, which was also astounding.
So, Honda went from V6 in 1988 then V10 in 1989 and then V12 in 1990 and still got power and reliability from all those engine formats unlike nowadays. Although now there's a "powerunit" with Mgu-H and K. For which Honda is a pain to get right. I hope they can get it right for next year with Mclaren and Sauber. And Mclaren don't chicken out with Mercedes.

Nope, they went to the V12 with the championship-winning McLaren MP4/6 in 1991, and then followed it up with the less successful McLaren MP4/7A in 1992, which is, to date, the last V12-powered McLaren Formula 1 car.

A real F-1 car. The power input of the two turbos is brutal. Only legends like Senna, Prost, Mansell and Piquet could take these cars to the limit. The F-1 with the current cars that seem battery-powered will never bring this emotion.

juan2004623 if thats the case then why is it a lot more expensive to develop the hybrid PU’s than the preceding NA V8’s of the 2006-2013 era?
You cannot deny the actual potential of these Hybrid PU’s as opposed to the NA engines.
Jan Luzar Consider this, the current V6 hybrid uses less fuel and yet its a lot more powerful on the low end and rivaling the top end of the most powerful V10 f1 engine. The cars today have fuel tanks that are 30 percent smaller than the previous V8 cars, the FIA mandated that smaller tank rule not because F1 wanted to be more green but its to regulate the potential of these engines and force the development on newer systems such as the hybrid MGU H and K. Like it or not the manufacturers such as Porsche, Audi and Toyota arent coming back to F1 if they are going to spend millions on an engine thats worth jackshit after a season, the hybrids are there to pull the manufacturers back to F1 and moaning about Engine sounds isnt helping that. If the current hybrid engines sounded exactly like this Mclaren then you guys wouldn’t be complaining at all

Aquele tempo não havia controle de tração, ia apenas na sensibilidade do pé direito do piloto. Se vocês prestarem atenção o cara nem acelera muito e o biturbo 1500cc perde tração tamanha força. Os pilotos da época tinham que ter o feeling de acelerar rápido sem destracionar o carro e a hora que os turbos enchiam a potência vinha como um pataço no peito do piloto.
Pilotar esses carros era só pros fortes.
Até hoje não tem controle de tração, a única assistência que a F1 atual tem é o câmbio semi automatico, embreagem so serve pra somente pra sair com o carro de primeira mesmo.

What makes the modern day cars sound like such shit compared to this one? I mean modern day f1 engines are bigger considering the fact that they are 1.6L of displacement as compared to 1.5L that’s in the MP4/4 so what makes them sound so bad?

I had no idea these cars were this loud from the historic footage. There's something magic about seeing this car running in perfect condition like its been race prepared as it was in 88. Top marks to HONDA for the meticulous perfection powering this car.
The footage was shot in 2014. They fired up a really old car, not historic footage.
@@ElementsMMA you missed the point of the comment.. OP was saying that original footage could not convey the awesomeness of the experience without having actually experienced it.. and while that remains true, this clear footage conveys the sound and awesomeness much better than most footage from many of the original broadcasts.. simply due to the advances in technology

If you wanna see Williams bankrupt then no, these engines were highly unreliable and had to be replaced every 3-4 or so races.

It only had around 650 hp.
It was in 1986 they had the crazy 1000+ in qualifying. In 1987 boost got limited to 4 bar and in 1988 it got limited to 2,5 bar (this is the 1988 MP4/4)

That airbox / body work looks like a MP4/5 . The MP4/4 different shape. The MP4/4 was hidden in the first part of the video. MP4/5 has the high airbox

This one is only producing around 650 hp.
The ones with 1200 hp were "qualifier" engines with increased boost, that wouldn't have lasted a whole race distance. And even during the qualifying laps some driver shot the engines every now and then. Remember than for every extra mechanical hp there's 2 hp of heat that need to be cooled away.
