    People always hype over the MP4/4, and yeah it was a fantastic car. But the stand out car for me was the FW11/FW11B from the 80's. Sounds and looks so beautiful, not to mention aggressive as hell. Love it.

      True and in that Era the tremendous horsepower overcame the rear wing drag, hence there was no need for drs systems in today's f1s. Incredibly superb race cars.

      Agreed and the only reason McLaren dominated 1988 was because of Honda shenanigans and micromanaging Williams’ driver decisions. The FW11/FW11B was faster than the MP4/4 since it wasn’t turbo boost limited. Had Honda not consolidated into McLaren, 1988 would’ve turned out way differently. But Williams had the last laugh and dominated the 90s with Renault.

      These cars sound like monsters with the clutch and stick shift. Yes the v10s sounded amazing, but much more clinical in comparison with those dual clutch transmissions (or whatever gearboxes they were running at that time)

      1 exhaust pipe, no twin turbo, lower revs
      that's basically what happen on the current engine

    • @brainandforce
      @brainandforce 6 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Also, the gearing is tighter on the new cars which prevents drivers from revving their engines dramatically. (And this car backfires way more!)

    • @thefowlyetti2
      @thefowlyetti2 6 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      The new turbo F1 cars have an MGUH system which harvests the exhaust for extra power which dampens the sound. They are removing this system in 2021 so should be a little better then.
