    My understanding is that, after a long and extensive search, Mig found the actual "Panzer of the Lake" wreakage and that these brass toothpicks are forged from 7.5cm KwK 37 shells still inside the tank!

    It sometimes seems, that most of the modeling companies’ Research and Development work is searching websites like Wish and Alibaba, looking for penny times they can rebrand and sell as hobby specific items for a high multiple of the actual costs. Toothpicks, nail salon brushes, pencils, nail clippers, hardware store quality clamps, ordinary scissors, make up brushes, tape, sharpies, cotton swaps, dropper bottles, mixing pallets, milk foamers, wooden sticks etc etc

    I made a similar tool by super glueing one of my wife’s sewing needles into a wooden dowel about the size of a pencil. It’s great for adding small drops of CA glue to model parts. You just drill a hole into the end of the dowel with a pin vise.

      Thanks Jerry! It went well, but my video didn't come out well. My high-quality audio recording cut out after the first 20 seconds, so I only have the terrible audio from the video camera. If I can de-noise it, I may upload it.
      Now, I will also have a presentation at the US IPMS Nationals in 4 months, which will be the same discussion (just more polished), so I will try to record that better with my lessons learned at HeritageCon.

    I've been building models for over 40 years and I think I've gone through around 500 toothpicks (maybe a smidge more) in that time. So...yeah, I think your comparison to a $5.00 box of 500 bamboo toothpicks kind of drives the point home (no pun intended).

  • @allanatwick1606
    @allanatwick1606 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Well I use 0.25mm diameter single strand guitar wire which cost me £2.50 for 3 meters which is then fixed into the end of a piece of 8mm dowel which I had lying around up the shed which serves as a handle.
    Not only can I put the tinniest of blobs of glue on but I can also bend the wire to get to hardto reach spots.
    Cost per aplicator....... 4 pence and can very easily be cleaned of and re used time and time again

    • @G60syncro
      @G60syncro ปีที่แล้ว +4

      True that! I play music and though I'm just the drummer, I always grab my guitar player's old strings whenever he changes them and I'm running low on my supply of free wire!! Also the fatter wound strings have a thinner wire running down the core. So that extra bit that gets clipped off at the tuner has an inch or two of the thin core showing before the windings start, making a perfect thin wire applicator with a bigger handle to hold onto.
      Even if bought new, a pack of guitar strings is a very cost effective source of wire material!
