    For the rear seat belt that you said if it's turned you hear a rattle. Here is something I just thought of that would work for that. Go to the dollar store and see if you can find velcro and take the soft piece and stick it where that seat belt buckle would hit and instead of hitting the plastic and making a noise it'll hit the soft velcro and not make a sound.

    Good review btw. I find the shelf in the floor of the door space irritating as well - gathers dust and grime. I also find the lack of a rear wiper occasionally annoying, mostly for road grime and morning dew, but mostly doesn't bother me.

    Hey man I caught this video when doing some research on the Ioniq 5. I just put a down payment on the same exact car and color (digital teal right?) but with the all black interior. So excited to pick it up next weekend. Keep up the great videos and I look forward to seeing more about it. Let me know if you are able to get any fast charging speed tests. I don't do a lot of road trips but I do plan on testing the waters.

    Great vehicle (coming from a model 3) only complaint I have which is not too bad is hearing the fan spinning and other related climate control noises (not good at describing noises), however you only hear it if not moving and radio is off. Otherwise really a well made vehicle happy so far at 1k miles in

    Agree with Kasper regarding lack of rear wiper. Test drove and bought car on a beautiful day. Never crossed my mind that any crossover would not have a rear wiper! I was also surprised it didn’t have the interior garage door opener. Guess they don’t have many garages in Korea. It also lacked a few creature comforts we were used to because we have had them on our last 5 vehicles. If I had to do it all over, I would have waited until the high end Ionia 5 became available or do a better job of identifying what was missing and shop other brands or models. In spite of these problems, the car is comfortable and fun to drive - even for this 73 year old guy.

    After having this car for 3 weeks, my biggest dislike is the lack of a rear wiper. In the rain, the rear window is completely useless, especially if you also have toned windows.

      Yes, this is pretty bad. Rain is rain, but dusty roads are extremely bad, as rear windows gets completely covered and there is no way to wash off. I live in a cold climate where roads are being de-iced with salt and sand. It becomes very dirty when air dries ou, and the whole spring. Unpaved roads are also really bad. Some weird aerodynamics may be at play here as well, as my other car does not have these problems, without a wiper.
      Hyundai should have expected bad roads when offering an AWD car.

    Quick maths: 77.4 kWh battery charging from 0-100% is going be about about 70 kwh of juice going into it (EV’s shut off around 10% battery charge to prevent damage). Most manufacturers recommend only charging to 80% on a daily basis to prevent premature battery degradation, so it will likely be about 56 kwh that you put into it on a daily basis. At 2.5 miles per kWh, that is a range of 140 miles to empty. My twice weekly drive to a job site (which has free chargers on the other end of the trip) is 125 miles. I go from near sea level, through maintain passes that hit 3,200 ft elevation and I usually set cruise control to 79 mph. With my current driving style, I’m pretty sure that 80% charge would not go 125 miles based on the numbers you report. I had the same problem with a Tesla model 3 long range. With 80% charge, it would go 160 miles at 2.9 miles per kWh at 79 mph. That is good enough for my work drive, but I didn’t like how low the model 3 is and it is not easy to get in and out of, the way a cross over is.

    • @TheIoniqGuy
      @TheIoniqGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Larz. Leaving with 80% you would probably be cutting it pretty close with that amount of elevation gain at that speed. In warm weather that drive should be no problem though. Even in near 0°F I'm able to get about 190 miles in a rolling hills scenario. I'm assuming that drive has massive temperature swings as well from sea level to 3200ft?

    I have a 2021 Hyundai Sonata Limited and have been using the BlueLink app since I purchased the vehicle half a year ago and it definitely has the ability to turn on my heated leather seats as well as my heated leather steering wheel. It may just not be a feature available for the IONIQ 5 specifically. The Volkswagen Car Net app has less features for the ID.4 than it’s ICE vehicles so it is a possibility. Just like how the Hybrid Limited version on my Sonata lacks a few of the features my car does despite being the same make, model, trim, year, relative cost & chassis, just in the hybrid version of my specific vehicle.

    How can a feature like this be a trigger that needs to be turned on after every drive? The doors on this car are quite long so the further back you set the seat, the less likely your elbow is to be hitting the B-pillar causing you to have to move the seat further forward so that doesn't happen. I've had that issue in other cars I've owned.

  • @circuitdotlt
    @circuitdotlt 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    One more annoying thing - invisible door handles from the inside. My passengers experience a huge frustration as they don't see the handles and don't know how to close the doors. And me explaining does not help at all, they end up with more frustration, as they say "where??? I don't see it!!".
    So called "self driving" is really bad as well. It really struggles to "see" the road and does many random steering inputs, some pretty dangerous.
    Also speed control when handling other cars entering and leaving your lane is really bad.
    Also turns are handled poorly - when entering a turn in the road, it will often no longer see the car in front of it and start accelerating, also lose the road and go staright off road, while accelerating.
    Also I had many "wrong way" errors, even when not using navi. They remained constantly on screen until car was powered down. Covering vital information, like range left.
    Sound system on my P45 (highest trim?) Is pretty bad. 5-speaker Brabus sound system on my 2004 Smart car is way better.
    No wireless android auto??? No option to display notifications from the phone on screen or heads up display. And phone's screen is not visible in the dedicated place.
    Middle console is just nonsense. Especially the part where you are expected to place your phone for charging. It is quite difficult to reach, and you can't see the screen. So I end up putting my phone between my legs or in the cup holder. Quite tragic.
    The level of integretion under the hood is really low. It is probably 5 years behind tesla.

    • @TheIoniqGuy
      @TheIoniqGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Suspension is definitely a little looser. There's 4 speed humps on my way to work. In the CX-5 if I took them at 40mph it was very jarring. In the Ioniq 5 I can take them around 45mph and barely feel them. The speed limit is 35mph on this stretch. If you're referring about the quietness of the cabin, they're actually pretty comparable. The CX-5 was like a tomb at highway speeds and so is the Ioniq. I was always amazed how quiet the CX-5 was, at least the 2017-2022.

    I'm glad to find out the Hyundai Group still has some catching up to do regarding Tesla. IMO, an adequate sound system doesn't cut it in today's market and I'll wager next year's model will have a wiper. The frunk is pathetic!
    I've got an M3 Dual Motor which impresses me everytime I drive it. Best sound and navigation systems I've ever encountered. Light and wiper auto functions seem to read my mind. I have a bigger frunk but never use it because I detest the way the lid closes. My main gripe is the somewhat harsh ride which is more sports car like than I want at my age. Regular roads the ride and comfort are fine but iffy roads, comfort is lacking. Charging network is perfect!

    I don't know of any car that has remote start heated seats. It may have to do with potential fire hazard. Your fanny acts as a heatsink and you'll turn them down or off when they get to hot. Maybe some of the super luxury brands may have that where otherwise it would be too costly to add all the sensors and switches necessary.

      Wow, I wasn't aware some cars can do remote heated seats. I know my Niro gets pretty toasty and warm quickly so I don't really miss remote seat heaters. Front and rear window defrost is what I usually need and seat heaters ain't doin much about that. Once I have the front and rear clear I'll switch on the seat and steering heat and basically shut off the cabin heat if conditions allow, saves a lot of juice that way. I wonder who else has remote seat heat.

My model Y became available last week, 9 months earlier than expected.. if it hadnt I would have tried to get one of these. One thing that surprised me was tesla software... in the car it doesnt do some things I just assumed it would and the phone app is so wonky i really dont like it. Trying to figure how each charge session went is almost impossible. I cant figure out how much at home charging is even though i have all the set up to my hydro provider plan... and the "other" doesnt seem to be working either.

    Finally a real world review. Considering getting a base model, as daily life with my wife's model 3 LR has proven electric is doable to completely replace ice. I think the base 5 would make a good second utility urban vehicle for hauling and daily use. 2.5 miles per kwh seems a bit thirsty though. I can find no info on the net about the base model that doesn't have the heat pump, and real world mpge. I did test drive a mid-range rwd, and wasn't super impressed with the acceleration. It seems to run out steam once past 70mph - but it does ride much softer than the model 3. Two very different vehicles with different missions.

    I'm not a fan of the exterior styling and I expected it would look especially bad when dirty, but this video dispelled that notion.
    The interior is fantastic, and the excellent visibility is something I crave, as my SUV's A pillars often block motorcycles and cars from view.
    The fixed headrests in the back would bug me too if they block the seats folding down while the fronts are in normal driving position.
