I don't know if I'd call it under-appreciated. If you consider the size of the playerbase on the Switch versus, say, on all other consoles and PC combined, the Xenoblade games have sold significantly better than things like Final Fantasy XV. Xenoblade 2 pushed nearly 2 million on Switch to an audience of 12 million at launch, while Final Fantasy XV sold 2.5 million on PS4 to an audience of 65 million. JRPGs in general aren't as popular, but Xenoblade has consistently done surprisingly well. We'll see a lot more from this franchise.

I'm interested to play Xenoblade but I wonder if it will be too hard for me. Thanks for a great video and being an inspiration for older gamers. 😊👍
Hard to say, whether you'll be OK with Xenoblade. I was surprised myself, but somehow the combat style just made sense to me (it's very different from other JRPGs!) and felt comfortable. If you want to try it, I would recommend the original XC game (Definitive Edition).
@@Food4Dogs Thank you so much for your reply. Pokemon Shield is just about my speed I think. Rune Factory 4 and Dragon Quest Builders 2 are also fine. I gave up on Breath of the Wild after about 25% of the game. I beat Tale of Vesperia mostly using auto combat, the controls are very hard for me.
@@Tuinuiski I do understand. Actually, I find the combat controls in Vesperia awkward myself - you are not alone there. The one thing that actually makes Xenoblade combat 'easier' in a way (I had to get used to this) is that once you initiate your basic attack, your character will keep auto attacking. That's how the game is designed. You just need to keep an eye on the special skill attacks. You can see at a glance which onces are greyed out (cool down time) and which are available. It's a pretty fail safe system IMO, anyway, bc there are only ever a few options you have active. 😃 Dunno if I have explained that well enough .. but, yes, it does take some getting used to. The game has a very slow intro curve, giving you hours in the beginning to familiarise yourself with how everything works. If you want to read up a bit, here's an explanation: xenoblade.fandom.com/wiki/Auto-Attack_(XC1)
@@Tuinuiski Indeed, NNK1 has a few idiosyncratic twists! It's really hard to generalise with combat systems - what suits one person may not another, hard to predict.

Dragonshot67 8 God can males simply talk to a female that plays videogames as a hobby without mentioning girlfriends or wanting to date a female gamer at all?
You are a blessing. I have been debating getting this game and I am beyond sold. I played Xenoblade Chronicles 2 only so far and I fell in love with the game so I’m sure this one is just as magical. Great videos!
As a casual girl gamer, I want to grow up like you. I am often being laughed at when people found out I still play video games at my age. It’s cool to see how a casual gamer is still interested in gaming-related TH-cam content. Usually only core gamers would even watch this type of content.
Yeah, i agree. It is so easy to find youtubers that just keep buying tons of games just for the sake of buying and never play them. This quote warmed my heart. Thanks for the video! You’ve just gained a new sub!
I'm so happy this came into my feed. Working for a game store for 4 years I saw people of all ages and cultures buying games and this content very strongly supports what I told people every day: Gaming is for EVERYONE. Please keep making content, you are making so many people very happy.
Can't believe how sweet you are, it brought tears to my eyes. You seem to be such a wonderful person. I hope I'll grow up like you. Thank you for making this channel, you have no idea how heartwarming it is.
In the oversaturated sea of gaming content creators, it's so refreshing to see someone talk about cult games in such a detailed and personal way. True to the channel description, I feel cozy, like I'm actually with this lovely lady and she's telling me all about her favourite games and showing me her collection. You, madame, have my respect and subscription!
I was surprised to find tears welling up in my eyes watching this. I'm 37 now, but I've been on so many video game adventures since I was little. Xenoblade Chronicles has become my favorite for many reasons. But seeing this wonderful passionate video for this great game and about the beautiful experience it took us all on, well it makes me feel so good because it makes me feel like we're all on this journey together no matter who, or what age, or where, we are really all together right now at this time and we can take joy in it. Thanks for the great video! Salutations from Oregon!
I much prefer these histories to the ultra fast glossy productions. This feels more intimate, and reminds me of the conversation I’d have with friends around the table. Lovely work.
I cried watching this. Two times to be exact. It's a warmth feeling that humanity gave me. She knows what she is talking about. She is very precise and her tone is perfect. I miss my grandma so much. An unexpected one.

This is the best, most wholesome video I've seen on TH-cam in ages. It's so nice to see someone just talking about games because they love them, rather than how a game, or criticism around a game can be politicized one way or the other. Simple, personal, and honest. Subscribed.

This seriously warms my heart up so much. You project such elegant and graceful energy that I'm glad that you have the impression that "we're never too old to enjoy what we love." God bless you, you wonderful human.
I love that I managed to stumble upon your video. TH-cam just randomly recommended it to me. Xenoblade Chronicles as a whole, and particularly the first one, hold a very special place in my heart. Just remembering the story while I was watching your video filled my heart with such good memories, I really want to go back and play it now. It's so nice to meet someone else who's so passionate about this amazing series.
That made me laugh too. I'm assuming she is not used to the video technology, in which it can be paused, or watched at later dates, and researched multiple times. She is sweet and considerate nonetheless.

@@unOrigiNik Nik, I just found a comment of yours marooned in the YT Spam bin. You used a URL and that's a red flag for comments. Please remember in future? Thanks.
I still remember when I first played Xenoblade. I’m from Cuba, so there wasn’t ever a real commercial video game flow due to its politics (but some time ago in Mexico, during my early childhood, I was able to get a Game Cube and Wii). But one time, a cousin of mine, brought me a “ new” 3DS and among the games he got me (including MGS3, Tekken, Pokémon and Mario 3D world), I found Xenoblade. 15 year old me was a bit overwhelmed by the game at first, but at the same time, captured by its beautiful story and presence. It became one of my favorite experiences in gaming. I even got to play X at my best friend’s house at one point, which I loved!! It is very precious to me, even though I never got to play again it since 3 years ago my cartridge got damaged somehow. This video has inspired to maybe go ahead and get the ultimate form on the switch and go back to that world once more! Thank you
Leo not through official means. There are 2 ways that video games get around: Someone goes overseas and gives them/sells them in Cuba or, assuming you have a console, there are people that pirate the console. There were also unofficial sellers that had games on flash drives that they would sell, for PC gamers that is. I’m blessed that I had a source to experience gaming, let alone through the authentic means, especially now that I live in the states. 😁
Your insights and knowledge on the Xenoblade Chronicles series is impressive! It brightens my day knowing the series has stolen your heart much like it has with mine!
Normally when I think of games elderly audiences would enjoy, I’d think of slower paced games like Wii Sports or Animal Crossing. Never would I have thought of action RPGs like Xenoblade! Awesome stuff! You have a really nice voice too, like a very kind art museum tour guide kind of voice. :)
You were not kidding, that art book is phenomenal! When you started showing all the art just for Shulk I was blown away. I might have to try and find that somewhere
This showed up in my recommended and can I just say, you are a gift. I feel like I've been blessed watching this video. Love Xenoblade, keep up the fantastic videos! (P.S. you're making me regret not getting the XBCDE collectors edition for the artbook! Wow!!)
When I got to the XC2 part and said you were able to get into it and just loved it I felt so great because I love Xenoblade 1 and Xenoblade 2 with all my heart and hope that X gets a Switch version one day as well
This was an absolutely tremendous watch. Playing the Definitive Edition now as my intro to the series and honestly blown away so far. Taking my time with this game, I feel lucky that I can go straight to XC2 right after this. Really hope that X comes to Switch to complete the series so far.
It's a truly amazing game, I've gushed over for years. It still brings me to absolute awe that such a game could be made on the Wii U's hardware. And _such_ an insane level of detail in the world, and all _completely_ seamless... It's one of the best looking games ever made, it's so easy to get completely lost in Mira. It's pretty sad that it flew over a lot of people, many thinking BotW was Nintendo's first big open world. Mira COMPLETELY crushes Hyrule.
I love X and, while I do think it took a few steps back in some areas from it's predecessor, it is my favorite in the series and I adore playing through it.
Your video just showed up in my recommended feed, glad I have come across your videos! Your passion for gaming shines through, great content, keep it up!
Wonderful game, looks absolutely gorgeous on the Switch as well. Hope you have as much with it as I've been having! Sending love from Montana in the USA
It took two seconds to fall in love with this video, I’m subscribing and watching all of your videos! This is the kind of thing that I think proves the magic of video games, showing that people of completely different backgrounds can connect and share something they love. Beautiful 👍
Thank you so much for this video. I recently began playing the series for the first time with the definitive edition and just recruited Riki. I had to put it down for a while because I’ve been busy with school, and I sort of lost the spark. It is a complicated game with a big world and a lot of sidequests (I also get sidetracked all the time). But seeing your interest in the game has motivated me to pick up where I left off as soon as I’m done with school. Especially because now I want to play the other games in the series. Again, thank you!
Hearing your perspective on this series was really interesting! You have an obvious love for these games. Xenoblade is currently my second favorite series behind only Trails (I love the Mishy behind you!). They're all really special games with enormous and beautiful environments to explore, and the story and characters of the first game in particular are something special. It makes me happy to see the series going so strong currently. Here's to hoping we get a 3 or X-2 someday!
It brings me much joy to see a series I love so dearly, being enjoyed by people of all ages. Thank you for sharing your story with the series with us! It was wonderful to hear about.
My grandma: stop playing and wasting time with those things games of the devil. 😒 This lovely lady: lemme show you the good stuff about Xenoblade. 😊 Maybe yt put this video in my recommendations because I watched the animal crossing lady & I liked it 😂 anyway, it warmed my rancid soul watching you talking with such a passion about it, thanks food4dogs. 🤟😎
Xenoblade X was my first entry in the series and is still my favorite. Listening to you talk about the milestones it made for not only the series but for the system it was on really gave me some hope that one day we will see it on another console again.
My Collector's Edition arrived somewhat recently and then i stumbled upon this video. This is absolutely amazing, and you can just see how much love you have for this franchise, great video.
It makes me sad because I wish I could love any game like she has for Xenoblade. When she said she can spend hours in her recliner just looking at the art book, I can imagine that and it’s just so wholesome So happy that TH-cam recommended this video!
My grandmother is put off by the idea of even picking up on "smartphones", because she feels/fears it's just one of those 'new' things that she's "gotten too old for" and is only for the younger generations to enjoy. It really feels good to see there are those who cast aside such thoughts, start a collection they feel passionate about, as well embark on the journeys that they have to offer. Very pleasant video to watch and listen to! 😊
Nice catch. 😄 I'm pretty immune to spoiler culture - at my age, there are more important things to get worried about hehe - but I do try to not reveal really obvious stuff like plot points etc.
IDK why you put "just kidding", showing her is legitimately the biggest possible spoiler for this game. Your comment was 100% accurate, Seven SHOULD NOT be in this vid.
@@Gankstomper but even so I don't think it should be a deal break for you to enjoy the game lol. I mean even Shulk has 7 in his final Smash in ultimate. This game is literally a decade old btw.
This was so wholesome. I'm pushing 30 and still love anime, JRPGs, and all of this nonsense that often seems catered to a demographic younger than me and I wonder at times if maybe I'm outgrowing it. I hope not. I hope when I'm older I'll be like you. Quaint, well-mannered, passionate, and still anticipating new releases in my favorite franchises.

This is so wholesome to watch and we can tell you're really a fan of the franchise. Wishing you the best and let's hope there will be even more Xenoblade games soon :)
You're probably right. I can't hear it bc of hearing loss. Hope it's not too intrusive. PoodlePa sometimes has to do contortions for getting the angle and zoom-in right. He's been known to keep shooting with cramp in his feet!
This is simply Awesome. Thank you for making good informative content. I’d rather hear from you than anyone now. You’re my new go to. Keep it up and god bless you
Xenoblade Chronicles X was the first Xenoblade game I ever played. It was also the first completely open world video game I ever played. I always loved exploring my games as much as I could, but nothing could've prepared me for Mira. The only places you can't reach are Mira's moons and the oceans that lie beyond the game's perimeter. Literally everything else is fair game. My FrontierNav map says I've explored 100% of Mira, but I don't believe it for a second. I find something new every single time I turn on the game. I'm still finding new stuff. I'm just as amazed at the size of the game's world now as I was when I first started playing it. It's just tragic that a world I feel so free in is ironically trapped on the Wii U. I would cry if Monolith Soft could figure out an efficient way to bring X to the Switch. I love X's world so much and I want more people to be able to experience it.
The infantile writing and vast but empty intro segments killed X for me, despite it being the reason why I purchased a Wii U. I never made it past the city gates. All of that enthusiasm ended up funneling in to Breath of the Wild, which is now in my top 10 games of all time. Does X ever get better than those god awful intro segments?
I really want Nintendo to wait until a more powerful Nintendo system comes along. Not that the Switch couldn't run X, but you know, they might screw it up seeing as how 2 and Definitive Edition turned out. There'd also be quite a bit of work to bring the gamepad features onto the TV and to do online without Miiverse. At that point, why not go all out remake? If it were up to me, I would change Conquest Squads into an fully fledged MMO mode with a better chat/voice chat system. And I'd also change the player cap from 32 to 64... mayyyybe 100. Nobody likes the Switch phone app, so they might as well use it to do something cool. Why not have frontier nav work with it while you play the game? There also seems to be some kinda network the blade members are connected to, so if they basically did a Miiverse kinda thing but for X players, notify about global nemesis stuff and participate in those weapon draw things, doing all that can really you feel like a member of blade. Speaking of nemesis, they should really have more than only two. Now, after beating the game, you'll unlock an epilogue that goes all out. And this epilogue wouldn't be as lame as future connected. A genuine 50 hour story focused continuation so that player don't have to go through that rage inducing cliffhanger. After that, the X universe could possibly end here so that there aren't multiple series for Monolith Soft to juggle at once. Now small things. The tutorial for the game is a little bit non existent. I hear a lot of newcomers starting up the game and getting overwhelmed by the battle system, tyrants, menus and numbers. So if all that were to happen in a future remake of X, it would no doubt become the best Xenoblade game. It already is the best in my opinion, but all that I talked out could make the game even more epic.
@@anothercoda3403 To me, Breath of the Wild's world felt far emptier than X's unless you were in a town, but if you're more into story than exploration, then you might want to stick with BOTW and/or the other two Xenoblade games. A lot of X's lore actually comes from doing side quests, so it might be worth your time to get further into the game and try some of them out. The beginning of the game is rather slow, but other than that and the ending, I thought the story was fine. Then again, I'm more into exploration, so I was okay with less story.
Words cannot describe how happy this makes me. It always warms my heart seeing older people or just people that don’t fit into the normal stereotype of people who play video games express their interest in them and talk about them.
Just came back here to tell you I hope you end up enjoying Xenoblade 3, or are already enjoying it if you've already started. I'm glad you found and fell in love with one of my favorite series ever!
Seeing this type of collections really hurts me, I couldt get any special editions not X itself because well no wii u. But still seeing that no matter the age(with out offense normally you would think of people playing jrpgs until 40 years old at most) you can be still even more dedicated than the so called biggest fan and such. Also have checked the content this far and I really like it, thanks TH-cam this time you did your job. And keep up the cuality content.
Thank you. 😊 No offense taken - I know I'm not your "regular" gamer, age-wise, but hey, age shouldn't matter. I love games and I love to share my enjoyment.
XCX is _completely_ worth buying a Wii U for, in my opinion. As some bonuses, you get Wii backwards compatibility, Metroid Prime Trilogy on VC, and Xenoblade on VC with GamePad compatibility.

Dunno if I have explained that well enough .. but, yes, it does take some getting used to. The game has a very slow intro curve, giving you hours in the beginning to familiarise yourself with how everything works.
If you want to read up a bit, here's an explanation: xenoblade.fandom.com/wiki/Auto-Attack_(XC1)
@@Food4Dogs Sounds quite doable, thank you. Ni no Kuni 1 is another JRPG I managed to get through, rather unique combat system too 😊

I’m a dude- but just saying I think also this amazing lady is part of a generation that didn’t grow up with video games; so even an old man would probably seem unique playing video games.

As a casual girl gamer, I want to grow up like you. I am often being laughed at when people found out I still play video games at my age.
Thank you
Aw, that's wonderful! Lovely story. 🤗
Are videogames being sold in Cuba? I'm curious.

This was an absolutely tremendous watch. Playing the Definitive Edition now as my intro to the series and honestly blown away so far. Taking my time with this game, I feel lucky that I can go straight to XC2 right after this. Really hope that X comes to Switch to complete the series so far.
Here to rep X because more people should experience the glory of it.
We definitely need a switch version, it would sell so good omg :(
I'd be all over it if it was on Switch. I can't stand using my Wii U though.
I love X and, while I do think it took a few steps back in some areas from it's predecessor, it is my favorite in the series and I adore playing through it.

My grandmother is put off by the idea of even picking up on "smartphones", because she feels/fears it's just one of those 'new' things that she's "gotten too old for" and is only for the younger generations to enjoy. I love your channel and perspective, thank you!
Amazing video, you have some brilliant knowledge of these games. Just started playing XCX and enjoying it so far.
I discovered this channel a while ago and I wanted to say it a really nice channel and I enjoy your videos
We won't give up hope yet. Let's wait and see. "trapped on the Wii U" is a very apt phrase.
@@anothercoda3403 No, you never leave the city and you spend the rest of the game working and doing taxes.
Her Monodo rant was hilarious. Makes me think, and want to know why, as well.
I never rant. I'm far too ladylike for that. 😊
@@Food4Dogs it was a ladylike rant, I assure you. You've got yourself a new sub.

Seeing this type of collections really hurts me, I couldt get any special editions not X itself because well no wii u.
