    This deck seems like the perfect interpretation of the brew that I'd sent across. Thanks for staying true to the vision of getting a stable board and winning with whatever you have left once the dust settles. I think that this deck struggles due to the issue of being a control deck without force of will in the legacy format, but I'm still very happy with how it did. The deck very much struggles with combo decks, and with big creatures. One card I liked in some builds is a copy of meekstone to tutor off ursa's saga for the secondary issue, winning against combo is a matter of games 2 and 3 needing to line up.
    Thanks for taking it for a spin, and for contributing your thoughts at the end to improving the deck.

    ooo I loooove this. non-blue control is something I’ve half-jokingly messed around with in the more powerful end of casual edh a handful of times, including boros. it’s a great time

  • @GeoQuag

    I think Mardu control is really solid for non-blue options. Bowmasters and thoughtsieze give more proactive plans.

    Last month I played something similar, bet went into The One Ring and Wastelands (with a higher land count). Also no Comet at the time so ran good old Ajani Vengeant lol. Somehow got a positive record, feels like you can gobble up creature matchups easily with Boros Control which is something.
    Also, your fourth round opponent is one of my members and they love Ratchet, always donating decks with it, I really enjoyed how much of a wild ride you had when playing against them and seeing all the weird stuff going on.

    There is something extremely funny about the line "Urza's Saga, tutoring Pithing Needle, naming Comet, Stellar Pup", in game 3 of a legacy match, without Comet even being on the field. The fear factor is real.

    My modern deck is boros control. Boros 4 color control that uses blood sun and lotus field to get lots of mana for spells to win the game. Used to be strictly boros but almost every iteration had some jank to create enough advantage to win.

    You ever thought about running Idol of Oblivion over Staff in this deck? I think if there’s ever a deck where idol is better than staff is a deck that has plenty of removal and plenty of token generating sources. This deck has bolts, helix, swords, solitudes, emperor so handles removal, therefore the chump blocking of Staff’s 1/1 isn’t as valuable. And this deck makes a bajillion tokens, even the fable shaman token makes treasures which triggers Idol but doesn’t trigger Staff. There were enough times in these matches where the mana advantage of Idol would’ve helped where Staff was limited.

  • @lolsatandudewtf
    @lolsatandudewtf ปีที่แล้ว +1

    This is super cool. I always thought boros control should be more supported by WOTC. One piece of advice in round 3 game 2 at 50:34: I would have activated staff with W instead of playing retrofitter and trying to hit that next land drop right then and there. You would have hit the vista a turn earlier, but even if you didn't, you'd get one card deeper for next turn. It didn't matter there because of how it shook out, but it really could have mattered.

  • @Interesting_Failure
    @Interesting_Failure ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Silly question, maybe, but would you consider a one-of Dwarven Mine? I'm not sure what the odds are on it screwing you by showing up at a bad time are (and they'd have to be pretty low, as the benefit is fairly marginal), but the idea is you can fetch it to get a storyteller counter.

    • @insomniclipse9400
      @insomniclipse9400 ปีที่แล้ว

      staff of the storyteller and forth eorlingas are the main sources of card advantage and they aren't legal in modern. It would be interesting to see a modern take on the deck though. I just cant think of card draw spells in boros as good as those 2. The thing about control decks is they usually need some consistent way to play the long game and get card advantage to have enough removal for whatever the opponent does. Maybe palantir would be a way to go in modern. Idk about the one ring though since it kills you. I don't really play modern so I haven't played with the one ring enough to determine how much a control deck would want it.
